Ever since launch, once I unplugged the phone, it would drop to 93% within 10 minutes with me doing nothing.so i did everything suggested and nothing worked.. HTC charge trick, format SD card in reader, in phone, in computer.. nothing. before and after the firmware update.. same thing..so i got fed up a couple days ago and took the SD out of the phone and left it out.with the SD card out of the phone, it stays at drops only about 100% for at least two hours.. as a matter of fact, it still shows 97% after unplugging before going to bed last nigh.I have a SAMSUNG branded micro SD card, my hardware is v3.
View 24 Replies View RelatedI did unrEVOked 3.21 and applied OMJ's 2.2 netarchy kernel ROM. I am not sure what my battery life was at this point but I was now on 2.2 after using eclair 2.1 for so long. I wanted to go to the new stock kernel so reupdated to OMJ's stock kernel 2.2 ROM. I also added back the Sprint TV Widget. Ever since, I have noticed a major drop in battery life. I usually get 30-40 hours on a single charge. Now I'm down to about 10. It is REALLY screwed up. I have CWM backups of all of the phases, including my 2.1 ROM. I might experiment rolling back if nobody else has any better ideas on how to debug?
I am using ATK but I make ATK kill itself so it is only there to help me kill procs. I noticed QIK and FRING seem to run all the time now whereas they didn't before I updated them. Not sure if that is related. TOP app shows me nothing special but system_server taking up most of the CPU like maybe 6% peaking while idling. Otherwise I just can't figure it out!! I used to be the one bragging about how awesome my battery has been (running original OTA1 which let me still use unrEVOked 1.0 to get simple root all this time). I am finally on 2.2 and I'm disappointed with battery life now. WiFi is WAY better but that is about it. My Nexus One does not suffer from 2.2 battery blues.

Could someone with good battery life on a Galaxy S post their batterstats.bin file?
I'd like to try this fix and not sure if the batterystats file would work from the other thread since its a different phone.
However, this simply has not been my experience at all, I get a couple of days out of my SGS whereas some others report only getting a day.
I just thought it would be interesting for us to post in here how much battery life we are getting for the amount of use we put the phone to.
There must be some sort of pattern.
My usage:
anywhere between 10 - 30 texts per day.
Several emails - sending and recieving.
a few phonecalls.
30 Minutes of gaming.
Twitter.
Live wallpaper running.
BBC News widget running and Weatherbug widget running.
I also listen to some music but this varies day by day.
3G and HSPDA are left on constantly as is my wireless.
GPS is turned off.
Thats my usage and i get at least a day and a half. Would be interesting to compare...
I have had my Samsung Galaxy S phone (Samsung Fascinate to be specific) for a full year now, and it wasn't until just recently that i have been having battery life problems. I could get a full days worth and more in the past, but now, my battery has been acting odd. I would usually charge it while I was sleeping, then wake up and go through my day just fine. But now, the minute i take it off the charger, it goes straight to being only half charged, and this is after 5 or 6 hours of charging.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo when push email is enabled (for my exchange work email only) my battery drains 10% every hour, even if i don't touch the phone it drains 10% Is this normal?
Looking at my screen, the 3G icon in the notification bar is constanlty changing between a 3G and H and the arrows are lighting up all the time. I don't receive to many emails (between 1 and 5 an hour)
I have recently flashed to JM5 and have only had that problem since comming to0 JM5. I have tried to different tricks for restting the battery stats and calabrating the battery but nothing really works.
Anyone who owns a SGS have any battery life reports?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI installed the galaxo rom on my I7500L the other day and immediately encountered a problem. My battery died in less then 7 hours with the screen off. I read into the no sleep problem (and being able to tell I have it by not being prompted by lock screen) and do not believe I have that problem. I am running it pretty much bare bones, with adw launcher, advanced task killer, and handcent. I did have the task killer set to auto task kill and aggressive (turned it off completely now) that may have been the issue.
Although its particularly odd that every time I enter task kill the settings application is always open no matter if i kill it or not. Is there any common knowledge I didn't follow (heard of deleting launcher.apk cause galaxo constantly refreshes it) but haven't done so yet.
Allowing the screen to time out and using the end call button to bring it back on has resulted in the settings program not running in the task manager as it constantly has. scratch that, still doing it.
It's been 9 days since i bought my galaxy wonder. Its battery is too weird for 3 days.Because 3 days ago 2.5 hours passed until %98.Now once i unplug its charger, it downs to %84 in 2.5 hours
Why is it too unstable? I didn't calibrate. (If that means charging it 12 hours after it discharged for the first time, i didn't do it.May it be the reason?)
BTW, important note : All settings are off (Wi-fi,bluetooth,gps,syncronization) and screen brightness is about %30 or %35 i guess.I don't even use live wallpaper and only widget i use is battery widget.(A simple widget 100 kb)
I noticed a huge drop in sessions for all of my apps (using Flurry). I don't think the problem is reporting, since ad revenue and sales were also affected. Sessions for my most popular game plunged yesterday to a level of a month ago, and all my apps saw a similar drop (about 25-30%). I didn't see anything about outages or issues on any of the blogs I follow...anyone here know anything?
View 4 Replies View RelatedSince installing Froyo, and also doing a factory reset, my battery life seems much worse.
Also when I check what has been using the battery there are not as many apps displayed, typically just 'Display' and 'Cell Standby' even though I have used the web browser, wifi and Angry Birds.
Maybe the battery needs recalibrating with the new firmware?
I'd like to know the opinions various Galaxy S users have about this phone's battery life and their usage profile. I'd appreciate if you can provide me the following information:
1/ How long does the battery charge last between charges?
2/ What is your approximate phone usage profile during a day?
(Eg. 2hrs of browsing over wifi, 1 hour of browsing over 3G, 1 hour of video playback, 2 hours of audio playback/streaming while browsing etc.)
3/ Other useful information (Eg. signal conditions - poor 2G/3G coverage around my office)
Ive got the xperia x10 which I love now the battery problems are sorted but I've another upgrade due and had a quick play with the galaxy s today. Seemed pretty good but before deciding whether I should take it whats peoples opinions on the battery life and the camera? The battery on all my android phones hasn't been great but as long as I can happily get a day/day and half out of it with reasonable use i.e. bit of music, lot of texts, a little web and a few calls then id be happy with it. Also I notice the camera doesn't have a flash, what are the pics like people have been taking? I really liked the look and feel of phone but a little worried the amoled screen would drain the battery too much.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am getting a Galaxy S end of this week or early next week. Wondering how good it will be for VOIP. I am thinking of using either Skype, Fring or Nimbuzz in the background 24x7, connected mostly over 3G but sometimes (at home and at work) over Wi-Fi. If Wi-Fi is going to drain the battery faster, then I can have it on 3G all the time. I'm more than happy if I can get one day out of it. What do you guys think? Has anyone tried it?
View 3 Replies View RelatedAnyone seeing an issue where they charge to 100% percent overnight, pull the phone off the charger and see a very quick drop to 90%?I know the HTC Evo had this problem, and it seems like my phone is doing as well.I charge it all night, pull it off the charger and surf for like 10 minutes and the battery level plummets to 90%.Its interesting to note that if you charge the phone to 100%, turn it off and charge it, the battery indicator will display 90% and take about 10 mins to get to 100%.you then turn it on and charge it, the battery will be at 90% and will take another 10 minutes of charging to reach 100%.This is basically the HTC charging trick. After doing the charge while on/charge while off cycle several time, the battery will truly be at 100%. The problem is, I dont really want to do this every time I charge my phone.
View 1 Replies View RelatedJust wondering if anyone else has seen this issue. I have some Altec Lansing Backbeat (903) bluetooth headphones that I use with my Galaxy S. Very nice, decent quality, signal doesn't drop much, etc. Generally very pleased. My phone is however now being a pain with them....
Previously turning the headphones on, with the bluetooth already enabled would cause them to connect automatically. If i didn't have bluetooth turned on i'd have to manually connect from the bluetooth settings once I had enabled it. So far so good.
About a week ago my phone started 'forgetting' the headphones. This means almost every time I want to use them I have to pair them again. A huge pain. Even when the phone hasn't forgotten them they don't connect automagically, meaning I still end up in the settings menu. Any thoughts?
I just rooted my Galaxy S Blaze and Got Rom Manager, Titanium backup which I have already backed up my phone. And I got SetPCU so my phone is currently over clocked I believe.
What roms could I get that enhance battery life? Or change the overral theme of my phone? I was expecting some drastic changes when I rooted

View 27 Replies View RelatedWhen the battery is low (Red LED blinkng) and somtimes at 15% when the popup comes up and you try to take pictures in close to or complete darkness pictures taken will look cut off like below:
Picasa Web Albums - JeffreyPeacock
If you keep taking pictures it will get to a point where the flash will stop working altogether and it will focus red bars take a picture of darkness since the flash did not come off. Opening and closing the camera app fixes this problem temporarily. If you plug it in and take pictures while plugged in the problem goes away. If you let it charge for a little bit unil it gets to around 15% and take unplug it and take pictures, the pictures will be fine until the battery drops to low (Red LED blinking). Two of my droids experiences this issue and my friend's droid as well.
This happened with 2.0 and 2.0.1
Additional Info:
What is weird is that when I start taking pictures, first 1/4 of the photo will be cut off, then 1/2, then 3/4, finally just a sliver of picture will come through. Then the flash wont even come on at all... even if I force the flash on under settings no light will appear. Then I have to restart the camera app to get it to cycle through. It would make sense it is a battery issue having a decrease in voltage and not being able to supply the needed power to the LED, but do all droids have that problem? Do I defected unit or battery?
Before the update I would bring my phone to work at 100% and with moderate usage, maybe some Pandora/web browsing and it would be nearly dead by the time I brought it home 8-9 hours later. Or even at night lets say it was at 100% when I went to bed, I'd wake up without it plugged in 6-8 hours later and it would be down around 50% battery. Now the difference is almost night and day. In those same time periods I'm coming home from work now with 60-70% battery when I had 10-20% before. And in stand-by the phone hardly uses any battery, at most 1-2% per hour. I am now extremely satisfied with the battery use, it's much improved from the Palm Pre I came from. Also, before the update my phone was power cycling/resetting about every 10-20 mins. I would also experience times of extreme lag when trying to either open multiple apps at once or go through the menus very fast. I even had an an appointment setup at Sprint to have them look at the phone. However, once I applied the update the phone is much faster and I haven't experienced so much as a hiccup. Anyone else experiencing these positive changes?

View 13 Replies View RelatedI have been having some battery issues on my Captivate and can only seem to get through 12 or so hours with minimal use and it is quite bothersome. The main reason I bought the phone was because of its battery life and so far, I am disappointed. For instance, I charged my phone all night, woke up and made a less than one minute phone call, looked at my status and I was at 96%. As the day went on with minimal use, it seems to drain without me even touching it. As of now (13 hours later), my battery icon is blue and showing halfway full, but the battery status says 36% which does not add up to me. I also don't have a live wallpaper and have Advanced Task Manager that kills all apps as well as GPS and Wifi turned off. Any tips? Should I take it back and get a new one or see if I can get a new battery?

If I pick it up at all while it is charging, the cord falls out. I love this phone, but this may be a deal breaker. What are the chances these issues are just with the phone? Should I go to AT&T and get a new one?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI seem to be having what I consider unacceptible battery life and I wanted to collect some thoughts on how to improve it, or if I should seek remedy with AT&T or something. At this point, the phone is of limited use to me because it dies part way through the day, which is unacceptable. Normal routine. Phone charges completely overnight. I unplug my phone sometime in the 7am hour. I usually get my first battery warning around 3pm. Phone usually shuts itself off around 5-7pm (hence, a serious problem). Since the phone is dying, it is "cycling" the battery every time I charge it. My day is what I would consider moderate usage. For comparison, my Samsung Jack last a day and a half under the same conditions. My settings for display and other things are essentially stock.
I pulled the battery stats the last time the phone died just as it was shutting itself off.
