When I select it a new drive shows up in my computer, f:. However when selected to browse or transfer files it says "please insert disc in drive f:". When I look in the phone the mini sd is detected and has 14.7 gb of free space. What is going on?

I have samsung I7500 and when I connect it with PC I turn on mass storage device. Than I start copying files from PC to mobile phone and in the middle of transfer it stops and my mobile phone turns back from mass storage device, so I cannot longer see it on my PC.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've had the phone for about a day now and I'm starting to get the hang of it. I connected my phone to my laptop (WinXP) via usb cable and mounted it and what not and the laptop recognized it. I see it in explorer as my E drive and see the following folders:
Android
DCIM
LOST.DIR
tmp
app(which I created)
when I copy files to the app folder and try to search for it on the phone I cannot find it using Astro. I also set the phone to mass storage.
I have a problem with the mass storage Usb fuction on my huawei U8185 (phone does not detect SD card after unpluggin USB cable). I have another stock Rom free from this problem, I want to copy files which correlated with this function on my actual rom, but I don't know which files to replace with the ones from the stock rom.

My wifes phone does not have this problem for the most part. Only when pdanet. What can be done? I have tried many different drivers and still same issue with my phone.

But, the file never shows up on the card, in the file browser (on the device - I use Glance). Where did the file go? When trying to browse the device from my desktop, I notice the USB Mass Storage option is missing guess that's expected since others in the forum explain that it was removed in this version. But, I can't get my PC to browse the memory card when it's stored in the phone. This all just seems to add up to a flaky memory management problem, but I can't be sure.

It detects the two internal memories, but the moment I access them; it says please insert the disk in the drive. What might be problem here? The memory shows as mounted in the phone.Also, Kies application does not appear to be working on Windows 7 64-bit. It does get installed properly, but does not detect the Galaxy S.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I connect my new Galaxy S to my computer using the usb connection, I can see both the internal and external SD card (I use a sandisk Ultra 16GB card). However I cannot open these disks. Windows refuses to open them. The right click on these disks in order to get their properties gives 0GB! So what is going wrong. Do the SD cards use a special format (linux ?) that windows can not see correctly.

My wife just purchased an iphone 4. By far I prefer the samsung's screen. Concerning the battery. One can go for one or two days without recharging. My feeling is that it is not shorter than the iphone's battery.

Usually a drive should be installed and then it should be visible on my computer. But this doesn't happen. How do I get it to work? I don't use kies because it is rubbish and don't need it. Using ES file explorer I was able to view system folders and found the system media files containing ringtones, notification tone, etc. However, I can not edit the files there or paste new files in there. I cannot find the system folder when I connect the fascinate to a computer. I tried showing "hidden files" but the folders still would not show up.
What I want to do is add my downloaded ringtones into the system media folder so that I can use those ringtones without having those ringtones appear in my music player. Another post tried to deal with this issue of the music player recognizing ringtones and notification tones, but no one could provide an actual solution to the problem. If I could move ringtones from the media folder on the SD to card to the media folder in the system folder, this would solve the problem.
Can anybody access the system folders in a manner that I can add files to the folders.
EDITED: PROBLEM SOLVED.
With the help given below, I came up with a solution, and have pasted instructions directly below.
Here are the steps I did in case any one else is interested.
Once your phone is rooted, it's pretty simple.
1)Download Root Explorer from the Market. Root explorer will give you the ability to edit folders/files that normally can't be edited, ie read and write permission as opposed to read only.
2)Using Root Explorer (make sure in top left of program it says "mounted as r/w"), copy any ringtone, notification file, .ogg file, .mp3 file, etc that you have made or downloaded, by selecting sdcard folder and navigating to the location of your tones, long pressing the file of interest, and select copy. (You can even long press on the folder and copy the whole folder of tones).
3)Still using Root Explorer, back out of the SD folder, and find the folder called "system". Navigate to system/media/audio/"ringtones" or "notifications" . Click the paste button at the bottom of the screen (which should have appeared as soon as you copied your file/folder). The file/folder will now be in your system's tone folder.
4)You must power down and power back up your phone before the phone will recognize these newly added tones.
5)Either delete the tone files from your SD card, or put a .nomedia file into the folder to remove them from the SF's media player.
Previous versions of Android but ICS changed things up a bit and the answer is no longer useful. I'm building a small android file manager type application for the desktop and any system call I might be able to make through adb to enable UMS or mount the sd card of a device from within the desktop application.
