A lot of the materials I've found mention that the Galaxy S line includes an FM tuner, but I've also seen that the Captivate doesn't seem to have it. Can someone who's used the phone clarify whether the Fascinate will come with one?
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe headphones that came with the phone. Do they have a mic built in? Or is the person's voice going through the headphones and the phone itself picking up my voice? I ask because I thought that the pause/play button on the cord itself was only a play/pause button and nothing else. Caused a awkward situation when my friend called and I was listening to Pandora so I was about to unplug the headphones after answering and I was like "hold on" and he said "okay" in my EAR, so I said "WTF you can hear me?" and he said "Yeah, pretty well". If it uses the phone's built in speaker that'd be awesome because then I can use any headphone combo I want and leave them in all the time if someone calls.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWell I've been a long time user of WinMo and Iphones. The android world is all new to me. I have a few questions that hopefully are quick to answer:
1)Has anyone used the tethering that came built into the phone? That seems to be the only one that works for me. I tried PDAnet but I can't get it to work. But has anyone noticed that the internet is very slow when tethering?
2)I have rooted the phone and would like to remove some of the AT&T bloatware and what not but before I do, how easy is it to restore the phone back to factory? is it a matter of just using the restore to defaults option? Depending on my experience i may or may not return the phone in the 30 days.
3)Does anyone suggest a nice fast IM program. I'm using Palringo but there seems to be a nice big lag in between switching from buddy lists to chats.
is there a FM Turner for the Samsung Fascinate?

View 12 Replies View RelatedA friend called me and i rejected the call since i was busy, later when i unlocked the screen a pop-up kinda window was there with 3 options and a title saying Unlisted contact number, the options were : Blaclist number, deal with it later(or something like that) and dont show this again. From mistake i pushed blacklist. Where are the blacklist setting in DOnut(galaxo), i cant find them, i know in froto u can find them somewhere in call settings, in galaxo there isnt any.
This happend now, i`m charging the phone on my laptop, and when i removed the usb cable the music started playing, but the screen didnt showed anything or the notification bar,it wasnt even the last song i listened in music player; while the music was playing i went to music player and that started singing too, but the last song i listened, both songs were playin, i stopped the player and the intruder music was still playin, it stopped when i dragged down the notification bar. I re-did the action a few times and it was the same, now it doesnt do it anylonger.
How to disable the baked-in power saver feature in some Samsung Android phones? the one that dims the screen, turns off the keyboard backlight, and doesn't let you use the camera once you hit 15%(or 10%) battery left? can't stand that, for my own needs anyway!
i figure it might be an edit to the kernel source code, or something like that. i just don't know where to do that. I know it can be done tho, because i remember having some ROMs on the Epic 4G that had that junk disabled. guess i'll also see if some of those old devs. are still around.
Is there any app out there that will allow me to play the music on my phone through my car radio by setting them to the same channel.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to block or remove built in applications on an android phone. I want to limit what you can do on the phone e.g. only call, text, email and use one or two third party applications. Is it possible to do that without rooting the phone?
Looking to do this on a Samsung Galaxy Pocket.
My Samsung Galaxy Reverb has nobody willing to build CM10 for it, so I decided to take on the task. It built without error - processed the kernel and all the CyanogenMod 10 files just fine and generated the .zip. However, after flashing the .zip I end up with a Samsung logo, then a black screen.
The compile went through without error, so I'm a little lost as to what I should check next. From doing a little searching it seems the kernel is at fault, but what to do about that. Am I supposed to flash the kernel separate from the .zip that the CM builder outputs?
I did some changes in my phone's ROM via Dsixda's kitchen.
I want to include the CWM recovery in the ROM.
I have the .img file for the CWMR.
How do I add the recovery in the ROM, so I dont have to install it separately everytime?
Also what are the changes that have to be made in the 'updater script'?

Bought a used android phone (MyTouch 3g) and was surprised it doesn't have a FM tuner. Do the new android phones have FM tuners? It is required to listen to the TV's at the gym and my old Nokia dumb phone had one so I just assumed they all did.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have published gstrings - a chromatic tuner app (for tuning your guitar/violin/..) on the market yesterday. www.cohortor.org/gstrings) People who ran it seemed to like it a lot (5*), but 2 out of the 20 reviewers gave it a single *, stating simply 'it does NOT work on android 1.5'. The truth is, it NEEDS 1.5 (cupcake functionality) to run. The problem is I have no way of getting back with those people to ask them 'HOW' did it not work. Naturally, it seems to work just fine on my device. I would like to ask for a bit of help from the community - you - to help me figure out the deal with the two nay-sayers. So if you own a guitar, violin, or any other stringed instrument that you tune occasionally and would like to have a tuner on your android phone, please try gStrings and let me know (gstrings@cohortor.org) if you experienced problems (what kind?) running it.

Now when I go to manage my applications to uninstall, it's no longer on the list! How do I get it off my phone?

I released my first Android application yesterday: G-Tuner. It's a chromatic tuner that listens through the microphone and works out what note you're playing. There are some screenshots here: G-Tuner for Android When I started working on it there were no other chromatic tuners available (in the UK anyway). A few other people have beaten me to it, but I hope there's room for a few of them. Within an hour of publishing my application I had my first rating: 1 star. Things have picked up a little since then, but I'm wondering what caused the initial bad reviews. Maybe they had a different model phone, and the application just doesn't work. I've only been able to test it on my own G1. Although a friend of a friend has tried it out on a Hero, and it seems to work. If this type of application is of interest to you, and you have some feedback I'd be most grateful. Does it work for you? Does it look bad? Is it obvious how it works? Any feedback or suggestions would be most welcome.
View 9 Replies View RelatedThe FM Radio app on my Evo died for some reason and now turns on to station 00.0 and I can't do anything. Does anyone know how I can fix this app or know of another app that will allow me to tune in over the radio stations? All of the "radio" apps I keep seeing and hearing about are for webcasts of the radio programming, and I want to actually use the FM tuner.

View 6 Replies View RelatedHas anyone been able to stream XM Radio directly from their PC to their phone using XM Tuner or SiriusXMStreamer? I have gotten it to work with Orb, but would prefer to take Orb out of the equation and stream directly from the XM program or use TVersity. Orb streams in a format that uses the camera player, which I do not like. I would prefer an mp3 stream from TVersity, but have not seen where anyone has gotten it to work.
View 1 Replies View RelatedJust got the phone today and i cant get enough of it. I am trying to check all the new stuff and am kinda stuck on the tuner. So my understanding is that you have to insert a headphone jack to listen to it and it won't work with the bluetooth headphones. If that's the case then it sucks as I really wanted to use my BT headphones.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am looking for some help. I'm new to android, and java development. I've got a pretty good handle on the basics, but I'm having an issue figuring out some more advanced operations. I'm working a guitar tuner, which is a stepping stone to a chromatic piano tuner. There is no public API for frequency analysis, so I'm thinking I need to write into code a Fast Fourier Transform, and I'll assume I need to import a different package for this. Once I display the frequency of any given note, I need it to reference it's offset to a pre-measured Mhz. There is alot to write, I'm aware, but my first step is to try to figure out HOW to get the frequency, and display it in the UI.
