View 3 RepliesSo I made my first attempt at rooting the phone and it did not go well to say the least. I ran the unroot, and then I did a factory reset on the phone. It starts up fine, screen works well, but no connection to T-mobile, and Wi-Fi won't work. I tried searching for a network through settings but it won't find anything. Does anyone now how to fix this?
View 2 Replies View Relatedwhen all i see is a black screen with some icons along the top. no app drawer. can't get into the settings where the master reset is located. i flashed it to 1.6, worked sort of well for a few weeks, now this.
View 5 Replies View RelatedTo all that have received the 1.6 update I want to make a note that if you ever do a Master Reset the touch screen WILL NOT work until you either pull the battery or power down and power this POS back on. Maybe it's my phone I won't know until I receive a replacement due to the fact that the camera firmware gives me an error.
View 1 Replies View RelatedLong time Droid user, brand new to the Fascinate Forum. I just bought my wife a Samsung Fascinate and I have to say the thing is absolutely phenomenal! It makes my Motorola Droid look like a 1990's flip phone!! Except for one problem the darned thing has been automatically spontaneously performing a factory reset / hard reset on itself. And it is happening at completely random times. You're sitting there playing a game, you're reading your e-mail or you just pushed the screen ON / power button to wake the phone up and unlock it and then, all of a sudden The phone reboots to the black and white Samsung startup screen, then recovery pops up and yellow writing appears that says "Formatting FOTA:", "Formatting DATA:", "Formatting CACHE:". Then the phone reboots again and comes up like you just pulled it out of the box; a full factory reset / hard reset. The contents of the SD card are thankfully fine.Is anyone else having this problem? Does anyone know if there is anything I can do to turn on some sort of logging so that maybe I can figure out what causes it? This is now the second phone that this is happening to. We took the first phone back to Verizon the very same day we got it and they swapped it out right there for another brand new one. The second phone behaved perfectly for three whole days before it went and wiped itself. We thought for sure that the problem was with the first phone, but now it is happening with the second phone.I am going to start from scratch again, adding one app at a time making sure the thing continues to work. But there weren't any apps on the device in the first place that were really out of the ordinary.- Gmail POP3 Yahoo- Corporate E-Mail to Microsoft Exchange Server (No, it wasn't the Exchange Admin sending a kill package, I'm the Exchange Admin)
- Angry Birds
- Robodefense
- Facebook
- Beautiful Widgets
- Cal Widget
- Google Maps
- Pandora
I have all of those apps and more on my Motorola Droid (also connected to the same Exchange Server) and my device is behaving just fine.I'm trying to think of reasons this might happen and I'm drawing a complete blank.
For the noobs What is the difference? And how do you do both?
not sure if i should do a factory reset through settings > privacy or use the hardware keys to do the hard reset. does the hard reset wipe more stuff?
View 1 Replies View RelatedThis may be a silly question... but I was just wondering. Is a hard reset is a battery pull and is a soft reset a "alt +right shift+delete" ?

So I did a hard reset of my Vibrant a few days ago (delete user data). I was able to reinstall most of my apps very easily because the market still had them listed in the downloads section. The only problem is, the preinstalled apps were all reset to their original versions, and I can't update them. The two that I'm concerned with in particular are Google Maps and T-Mobile My Account. If I look at them in the market, the only control available is "Open". "Uninstall" is greyed out and disabled. Basically, the market thinks that I already have the latest version installed, even though I don't, so it doesn't give me the option to update. The My Account app is completely broken. If I try to run it, it just sends me to the market saying that I need to update it. Then of course, the market doesn't give me that option, so I can't use the app at all.
View 4 Replies View RelatedOnce again, I must do a hard reset on my Samsung Moment. I love and hate this phone! My calls started randomly going directly to voice mail, then they all went directly to voice mail. Yesterday I couldn't make or receive any calls! They got that fixed today with a reprogram process, BUT, now I cannot connect to the Internet!
How do I forward/save, whatever, my text messages? Can I save them somehow to the SD card and remove it? Can I forward them to my email (without using the Internet?).
I have the messaging program that is standard, plus I use Chomp SMS mainly.
Alright whats up people I was recently searching through and through for a way to get mobile internet without paying that ridiculous android price so as I was searching I stumbled across a regular behold forum at Samsung Behold Forum - New Proxy (TMobileX (Free Internet!)) - UPDATE: Analysis 01.07.10 -> 1500 Users because someone said free internet for it and I gave it a run to see if it would work with our behold 2 and surely enough it does.
Instructions on how to use proxy:
Open up the (default) browser on your Samsung Behold.
Type in the following address into the : tmo-x.co.cc/tmobilex/
Type in the address you want to visit in the form on the page and select whether or not you want to use my HTML trick (free; allows you to see sites in full HTML not 'WAP-stripped').
After many attempts to try and use the terminal emulator that is already preloaded onto the behold 2 , and many failures..After trying out different Terminal Em.'s and always having my phone lag because they wernt made for it...i have finally found a way to get terminal emulator working with no lag or no slow down in performance... First you must have root,of course, Next, Use an app called root explorer or something similar and goto the folder /system/app/ and find the two files Term.apk and Term.odex, and MOVE them to your sd card from your phone, you want them gone from your system/app folder After that simply goto the market and search for Terminal Emulator , re-download and there you have it, Working term. em. on the behold 2.Peace Ladz.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have just recently bought a Behold 2 with the price drop. I like the phone except that it is very slow.
So i would like to root it and run a factory1.6 no twiz rom on it, but I'm having issues while doing it!....
I was succesfully able to get adb to detect my phone serial. but whenever I type in: adb shell /data/local/try3 /system/bin/sh
in the CMD, it returns with "permission denied"
Does anyone know if you can use any multitouch because any app that says it has multitouch doesn't work
View 8 Replies View RelatedThis phone has the WORST idea for an sd slot. When trying to take out my sd card, i took off the cover that holds the sd card.I could use some pictures on how its supposed to look when connected. I have been trying to put it back on and all I ended up doing was bending it.I got my hands on an HTC Leo Windows mobile 6.5. Best implementation of an SD card slot ever.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSprint release the 2.1 update for the Samsung Moment today. Here is the link to the update on Sprint's website. Will this update work for our Behold II? I'm willing to try to install it on mine (I'm currently running 1.6 no twiz). What do you think guys?
View 9 Replies View RelatedIs there a good and comprehensive way of getting the Behold 2 recognized by Linux (ubuntu 9.10)? I have the SDK installed and everything works but I don't Know how to get Ubuntu to recognize my phone, when I do ./adb devices it comes up empty.
View 9 Replies View RelatedG1 and my Behold 2 her phone had good reception and the behold had nearly none. Half the time I don't get phone calls. They go straight to VM. My roommate's BB pearl gets double the reception mine does. My other roommate's Nokia gets even better reception. All on the T-mo network. Another friend who has a G1 same thing, he has reception I don't. Not to mention the other problems I have had. This is my 3rd Behold II by the way. Been replaced twice and back to Samsung for 3 weeks once.

View 3 Replies View RelatedSprint is suggesting a hard reset of my HTC EVO because of a problem I'm having. Can't download pictures that are sent to me via text. Texts themselves come through okay...but the photos do not. Anyway, this particular problem isn't the bottom line issue. It's about the bigger question of whether to start all over or just live with given problems as they come up. The longer I have this device (any Android device I'm guessing), the more inevitable it seems that I'll have to do it sometime. Perhaps multiple times. One gets exhausted researching fix after fix after fix after fix. It seems to me that it will take me a long, long time to get my device back to the way I want it; if I wipe it. Got it June 4th and it seems like I've constantly been tweaking; adding apps, configuring, and such. On the other hand, maybe I'm overestimating what it'll take to get things put back together? What are others' experiences with the reality of a hard reset? Is it as big a nightmare as I fear/suspect?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI uninstalled all my task killers and will be using my phone for awhile without. So far, so good and the phone does run smoother. My main question is concerning the hard reset and when to do one. Does the Linux-based Android get corrupted like Windows when you download lots of stuff, etc? Does it build up? I'm wondering if I should do another fresh hard reset and just start over with all my apps I have now. Now that I've narrowed down the ones I use.

View 13 Replies View RelatedThis was b4 a hard reset with ATK downloaded and all of the system updates. This is after a hard reset with no ATK downloaded and no system updates (prl, firmware, or profile). Also did the GSM to CDMA trick with *#*#4636#*#*. Edit: apparently a hard reset doesn't eliminate the update i previously downloaded. (http://androidforums.com/htc-evo-4g/91176-clear-storage-doesnt-remove-update.html)

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an lg c800 -- mytouch q by lg
I rooted it yesterday and removed all the bloat. I also installed several root only apps to optimize the phone. It ran smoother than even right out of the box.
So, I figured it be a good idea to backup the rom, and maybe later try cyanogenmod... So I installed Rom Manager by clockworkmod
It said i needed to install clockwork recovery rom. I went in there but it said my device was unsupported (only like 12 were) so I backed out, and stupidly hit TWRP listed under "Recovery Already Installed". (thinking that meant what options I had to SETUP a recovery/backup)
I hit backup rom. almost instantly the phone restarted. After the bios, but before android it went to a screen with a box, and an arrow pointing from the inside of the box to the little android man. Then went to the regular android boot screen. It does this every reboot now. The SuperSU is still there, whenever Rom Manager (which I have to reinstall each reboot) asks for root access I get that dialog box, so it hasn't actually hard reset the phone I don't think. But all the user data, contacts, apps, wifi passwords, google id "(to access Play) get wiped out.
I understand what I did wrong. I think I understand what its doing (booting to the factory rom as it was, and I can't set it to stop doing it each reboot)
what I had previously, among other things, I had a bunch of tasker profiles and notes that will be time consuming to replace.
EDIT: SuperSU is now listed among the factory installed apps. This is unchanged each reboot.
Question: If I unroot the phone what that invalidate Rom Managers ability to run before android boots?
i have a lava Etab Z7H. its locked with too many pattern attempts . i tried nearly all combinations to hard reset but none worked . its a android 4.0.3 OS.
