Motorola Milestone :: How Can I Reset My Contacts List?
May 11, 2010I need to delete all contacts in my milestone and re-enter entries, any idea how I can do so? I tried little bet to realize a method but no success.

Motorola Milestone :: Imported Contacts - Not Seen In List
Aug 2, 2010I saved my contacts from my old handset (LG) to the SIM card. I put the SIM into my Milestone and went to contacts, went to import/export and chose Import from SIM. It showed all of my SIM contacts, and I chose Import All. At this point, a dialogue box with a progress bar comes up as it imports all of my contacts. However, when it's finished, they don't appear in my contacts list. It's set to display contacts with numbers. I bluetoothed the .vcf file from my old handset to my MacBook and then from there to the Milestone, and chose Import from SD Card, but I just get the same result. my contacts seem to appear when I type the name into the recipient box while texting but still not in the contacts list, meaning I can't call them and come to think of it, receiving texts from people who should be on my contacts, their name shows up.

Sep 1, 2010I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place (from what I can tell). Story as follows: Purchased a milestone from telus and unlocked in order to my current account. Previous SIM card was old and did not recognise Wifi, no data plan when phone first arrived therefore could not account sync with Google. New SIM card fixed wifi problem, data plan now on board. Still cannot sync accounts (can't establish reliable connection with server error message). Online research reco'd pulling out sim card/sd card which did not make a difference, and other minor setting variations all of which made no difference. Looks like a factory reset will resolve the issue but I would like to back up my SMS history as my understanding is that I will lose all SMS/MMS with the reset. (Other data is already backed up no problem). The dilemma is - apps to backup SMS history are available through android market. I cannot access android market as my phone will not account sync. Is there a way to dl an app online through my computer and then manually dump it to the phone? Is there a file where SMS are stored on the phone that will be recognized when the Milestone is connected to my computer? I feel like I'm going in circles(perhaps blindly) and would appreciate any geek-insight. I do not wish to root the phone as I do not have enough knowledge in this direction.

Aug 18, 2010I need to copy the contacts stored in my Milestone to the Sim Card. The phone settings do not seem to allow this which is bizarre given that this function is standard in almost all phones I've had before. I downloaded an app from Android called "Copy to SIM Card". When I tried to copy the contacts it just said "failed SIM locked or full". As far as I know the SIM is neither locked nor full (in fact it is empty!) so I guess the App just doesn't work.
Does anyone have any advice / ideas on how to complete this very basis task? The reason I need it is to try to syncs my Milestone with my Audi car blue tooth system which currently refuses to recognize the contacts on my phone. If anyone has had similar issues with comparability between Audi blue tooth and the Milestone I like to hear from you.
Motorola Milestone :: Contacts Not Syncing
Jan 17, 2010Is anyone having issues with googlemail contacts not syncing onto their milestone? I've tried the sync option, but the date/time stamp stays the same. According to my phone it synced last on 20/12 even though I have just tried now. If I then create the contact on my phone it will double it up when it does sync!

I was using the hero before and you could easily do it via vcard.For example, I want to send Mr Jones a contact number of a client, I can easily SMS him through contacts the client's contact numbers(emails and whatnots).However, this feature seems lacking on the Milestone. You can attach just about everything else except a person's contacts!Did I overlook something here? Or it just doesn't come with it?

Oct 23, 2010I have a UK Motorola Milestone running Android 2.1-update 1.
Yesterday all my contacts and my google accounts, to which they were synchronised, disappeared. Just like that, out of the blue.
I tried to add the google account again, but I keep getting a "can't establish reliable data connection" error. It is not a network access issue because internet and email (imap, not gmail) work fine, plus I tried with two different SIMs and with Wi-Fi, but to no avail.
I read about people deleting some files from their rooted Android and/or hard resetting their phones, but these fixes don't seem to always work and I'd rather try something else first.
I must say that, even though I like Android, I am getting very annoyed at how unreliable and buggy it has proven compared to my iphone and blackberry. Is it too much to ask to have a phone that doesn't reboot every other minute and that doesn't delete your contacts?

Nov 16, 2010so I just convinced my boss that we should switch from our costly Ms exchange solution to google apps, as it can do all the same stuff we need and more. We all have Android phones and I have set up my HTC Desire (Android 2.2 sense UI) to sync with my google apps account, no problem.However my boss have the Motorola Milestone, and his android version just won�t sync with his google account. Every time I try adding a google account with his mail address (name@ourdomain.dk), I just get a �no network connection� error. But I can browse internet and youtube just fine.I have searched the forums, and it seems other people can add their google apps accounts just fine, while some have problems.

Nov 10, 2009I did a hard reset this AM due to some sever instability in my Droid. Droid came back up fine after the reset, I activated it and signed in again on my primary Gmail account, added other email accounts, and reinstalled my Apps from the Download section of Marketplace. The only thing that didn't come back is my Contacts...Calendar sync'd to the Droid just fine, but Contacts wont. Tried rebooting the phone, turning contacts sync off and on again, and the sync icon shows for a few seconds next to the "Sync Contacts" checkbox, but none of the contacts sync to the phone. My contacts sync'd to the phone just fine before the reset they are the contacts in my phone's primary Gmail account.

Jan 20, 2010I am using Motorola Milestone UK version with AT & T. G Mail and Yahoo etc work fine. Data plan also work perfect wih At&T 2G. AT&T 3 G can not use with Milestone because 3 G band of AT & T is not supoerted by Milestone.
However, real problem is that when I call anybody, he always finds my voice breaks on Milestone. When I switch to speaker they find my voice perfect. I can hear their voice clearly. Any body has same problem.
Secondly, I would like to dowload "Car Home" app which is available with Droid. It is not available in Market place. When I try to see how it is intsalled in my friend's droid, it shows 0 KB. Does this app is part of Android for Verizon. When I dock the phone in Car dock, as I dont have Car home app so phone does not pop up Navigation window which is part of Car Home. I can use Google Map manually. This is not big problem.

Aug 3, 2010If you have missing contacts in your contact list (even if all contacts is selected) but when you search for them they come up, here is the worlds easiest fix. Log into your google mail on your computers browser, click "contacts". In the left hand column the 1st row says "my contacts", note the total.Now 2nd to the bottom there it says "all contacts". If that total is more, click on it. At the top of the list of names click "all", In the column to the right there is a box that says "add to my contacts", Dont worry it will not duplicate contacts. Click on "add to my contacts" Now after this my phone started syncing contacts automatically, if yours does not, force the sync in the settings, accounts, google. as soon as its done, your missing contacts are now displayed.

Thus, you can add all the contacts you want to the Phone Contact list, which has the side effect of being able to use the Verizon backup app to make a backup of your contacts.Kind of pointless, but might be useful to people who want to change their default Google account for whatever reason and get some crucial contacts back after a hard reset using Verizon's MyBackup.

Jun 14, 2010Here is something interesting about the Milestone. Enable Airplane mode, put it on the charger over night. Wake up to find your Milestone drained. This happens with my Blackberry Curve as well. Airplane mode drains the battery faster than its being charged. Has anyone else seen this? Or am i just getting lucky twice?

Feb 2, 2010My Motorola has begun to behave strangely. I think they lost the battery too quickly, so I have yesterday installed Netcounter and a Task Manager to see what it may be due.
Since yesterday, it downloaded 53 MB of data, including 28 MB today. It's too much, because I have hardly used it for anything but standby. There obviously mail pops up on it, but I read them on my PC. I have not used Google Maps, Web browsing or other things.
WiFi is off, but my battery is at 50% (this morning at 7:30 am, it was at 100% - now 4 hours later it's 50%).
Last night the Milestone was warm on the backside, but not where the battery is placed, but closer to where the sender/radio is placed.
Conclusion: Some programs must be running all the time,
1 hour ago I closed all programs using Task Manager.
But now, all these apps seems to be running (according to task manager):

Why does all my programs start? And which are using the Internet?
I looked at settings -> about phone -> battery usage:
android.process.acore: 71%
Facebook: 6%
display 5%
Android system 5%
Phone idle 4%
Cell standby 3%
Google 3%
Android os 2%
Cell Standby should be >90% since I've not using the phone today.
Any ideas? Should I erase all and restart? Or is it because I have not updated yet (still running the 2.0 version from out of the box)

Jun 10, 2010I am unable to use Gtalk, gmail, Maps, Market, Email (all pre installed) using GPRS/EDGE (Vodafone Live) on my Milestone. But All of these works with Wi-Fi connection. I installed Meeboo Messanger, this is also not working with GPRS/EDGE.
I called Motorola Customer care, they are saying that I have to take a DataPlan from Vodafone and should ask Vodafone to activate all GPRS/EDGE settings on my mobile. So I took a DataPlan (200 Rs. 100 MB), Vodafone People are saying that all available setting are already activated on my cell. But I am still unable to use any of them above. Every time no network connection found error is coming.

May 22, 2010When i take a photo in the dark just using the flash with a close up photo of an object. Half sometimes 3/4 of the screen is black, i have a feeling its and app because i sent it back to motorola and the re-flashed the phone, it was working fine until i restored all my apps using "my backup pro" and now i have the same problem as before.I need to find out which app is causing the problem.I also find that the camera doesnt work at full flash capacity because when i press the camera button to focus the testing flash is alot brighter than the flash it uses to take the actual photo.

Sep 8, 2010I just got a milestone yesterday, and I was fascinated by it. The only thing that kills me, is that it doesn't take permission to connect to the internet. I used to have a Nokia, which always had to take my permission first to connect to 3G internet network.
But with the milestone, it doesn't, and I get charged for every single 1kb used I just lost what is equivalent to $10 USD in the last 5 mins for just trying to open Google and download the SlideME app. is there some kind of hidden tasks that uses the internet or something ?
One more thing, today morning, I opened facebook after recharging my credit balance with 20 USD. And guess what ? They're all gone too for just opening the home page! if I have an active internet connection, how can I close it ?

Only problem is that I have set up my work e-mail (which sits on a server and is a POP-3 account I think!...can you tell I'm not technical?!?!) using the in-built client on the phone, trouble is that it keeps crashing and has to do a force close on me pretty much every time. I've looked for this same topic in the forum but cant find anything which answers the issue. Is the next software release likely to fix this bug?

Mar 25, 2010My wife and I both got Milestones about a month ago. So far so good; we're trying to keep up with the kids on technology. Anyways, we discovered we're unable to receive texts with pics, but are able to send them to iphones users (who can receive them). I asked about it at the Telus store, thinking it was a setting or something, and she said "smart phones can't receive pics by text, you have to email them". Doesn't really sound right... The choice to send a pic by text is an option in the menus, and it seems from reading the forums here that at least in the US, it's possible with the droid. So is this a Telus issue? No big deal, we're just wondering what's up. Even our daughter with a non-smart phone can send/receive pics by text.

Jul 29, 2010I've got a Motorola Milestone and would like to mount it to my Linux (Suse 11.2) without the use of the media cradle. With the cradle, you pop the phone on, connect your USB cable to the cradle and to the computer, and -- very important! -- switch your cradle from "charge" to "sync". Then your Milestone is immediately recognised as a USB mass storage device and all is fine. But without the cradle? The phone charges from USB but won't talk to my Linux. There is absolutely nothing in the syslogs, so it looks like the phone is not behaving as a USB-enabled device. It seems from the above that I should switch my phone from the charging mode to sync, but does anyone know how to do it?

Jun 23, 2010I have now been using the overclocking function for over a month and would like to report on the settings found to be most effective.
I use a combination of apps to achieve excellent battery consumption (1 1/2 days generally).
1. Screebl, set to 15 seconds.
2. Milestone Overclock, set to custom 1000 MHz @ 69 vsel
3. SetCPU general 1000/500 with charge 250/1000 and sleep 250/500
Ive found that the 125 MHz setting does not push enough juice to the radios and i sometimes get glitches with the touch panel/ dialler when SetCPUs ondemand governor is waking up to a call or 3g connection.
Also, the lowered vsel value of 69 seems to save a half day's battery as opposed to standard 1000 MHz/ 72 vsel offered by Milestone Overclock.
Screebl is a must for anyone who doesnt have it, as its simply the most effective battery manager out there. Would like a five seconds option though
