View 2 RepliesI just got my refurb today and it wont let me install the smoked glass roms neither v4 or v5. i rooted the phone with no problems. and i had smoked glass running perfect on my other phone.
I go to "advanced nandroid restore" then "choose backup" and i choose the smoked glass rom then the phone says: "nandroid exited with status 25." and if i try to use the backup rom i made it says "nandroid exited with status 21". any ideas? ive tried several times today with same results.
Everytime I try to install a rom through ROm Manager, after it boots into recovery and starts loading it it just keeps saying it cant mount and that the file isn't found over and over. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? If I try doing it through update.zip it acts like it's installing then just goes back to recovery without doing anything. I have an X and have had no problems modding that so I really don't know what the problem is.

good app for those wanting to take the plunge and do not have time, or worried about messing up.
discussed heavily here:

when u install be prepared to see a balnk screen and wait, but it works real good.
When I switch ROMs on my droid, and boot up the new ROM, sign in to my google account, etc. the market automatically starts downloading all of the apps that I had. Now, like most rooters, I'm using Titanium Backup and restore my apps through that so I keep all of the data and settings as well. How do I stop the market from automatically starting those downloads? All I need to download is TiBu so I can restore all of my backups. The last couple of times I just go into the market and cancel all of the downloads except TiBu but with over 100 apps, that's very time consuming. There has to be an easier way that I haven't found or read about yet.
View 18 Replies View RelatedI finally got 2.01 back onto my phone. It took a new version of RSD lite running as an admin to get it to work.. Now, I want to root this bad boy and install bugbless beast, where can I read up on how to install custom roms?
View 23 Replies View RelatedI cannot, for the life of me, figure out what's wrong. I've rooted my phone, 2.2 with Clockworkmod Recovery. I've loaded up my sdcard with .zip files of a few ROMs I'd like to try, go through the whole process of loading up a new ROM, and every single time the phone boots back into the stock ROM. I've had some success with loading up the given ROMs in ROM Manager- but I'm trying to install Smoked Glass 8 or Ultimate Droid, and those are not working.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo, since switching to 2.2 roms I've been having issues with DLing programs and updating etc from the market. Program will download 100% then hang, wont install. often I have to re-download multiple times until the install starts.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI want to be able to restore all my apps and data the easiest way possible when flashing new ROMS, what is the best way to do this?I was thinking one of these ways might work?
1. Advanced restore of other ROM and only restore data, but could this be problematic?
2. Titatinium backup: What batch should I run when I'm backing up my stuff and what batch should I run when I'm restoring on a new ROM?
My wife has an original iPhone and is thinking about UPGRADING to a Droid -- however, another Android phone caught her eye. It's the Motorola Motoroi, about to come out on TMobile. http://www.gsmarena.com/motorola_xt720_motoroi-3090.php
QUESTION: Will everything that's been developed (ROMS/APPS) for the Droid also work for the Motoroi since they are both Android -- or is it not that simple?
I'm thinking that every phone is unique, so every phone will need it's own rooting program and special attention. I'm also thinking that there may not be a following like the phenomenon experienced with the Droid, with soooooooo many techy folk developing so much, so fast, and where the average guy (like me), stops in my tracks, hovering over to the geek side, wanting to learn more...
The Motoroi may be incredible on it's own, and it may not need or get the following that we have with the Droid...
But I think the wife is addicted to the idea of changing things up now and then, always looking over my shoulder at what I'm modifying next, secretly wishing that her iPhone could allow her to do the same.
I have found that the AD Community ROM acts as if it is a brand new phone, never activated, and runs you through the set up of all your settings - and then proceeds to DL all your apps that you had installed previously.I posted a comment about it at AllDroid - View topic - [Rom] AllDroid Community Beta 0.3 release and got a reply that when someone went back to un-rooted and what not, the OEM ROM did the same thing. So, this led me to believe that there is some particular setting that allows for this to occur, where the ROM being installed is installed in a certain state so as to make the phone think it has never been activated before. This being said, I wondered if other ROMs could be tricked into thinking the same thing - and I hit upon an idea- what if, after installing a new ROM, you go into settings and do the factory reset that is there? Since I don't have anything installed except for this custom ROM and SPRecovery and such, I am not really gonna lose anything by doing this, so why no give it a whirl

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo ive been rooted for a while now. Almost a year now. Ive been using all sorts of roms but recently(up to 2 months ago) i started getting errors. Games like fruit ninja and angry birds will not install on my phone. I have more than enough memory for them and they are downloaded fine, just fail on install. Ive tried all sorts of roms, wiping data/cache, and fix permissions. The market gives me this message "unknown error-18" any help would be great as this sucks.

View 23 Replies View RelatedI'm using Titanium Backup to backup and restore my apps whenever I switch to a new ROM, and I was wondering: is it possible to have it automatically have it install apps without me having to manually hit "install" then "done"? I hate it cuz I could be restoring 40+ apps and I'd have to manually hit "install" for every one.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been running Pete's beast, which I installed using the update.zip. I'm considering doing a fresh install via nandroid, but I have one concern: will I lose my apps that I paid for, and all the data? Is there anyway to back them up?

View 4 Replies View RelatedSince the Dinc also has root, I would think they also have posted master backups in their forums. (I'm still trying to find some links.) Wouldn't their backup have some stuff we don't, (like the cool weather app that shows rain drops on their screen and a windshield wiper that wipes it clean), that could be installed on our phones?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI think I may know why this is happening, but I don't feel like doing a full nandroid reinstall and losing my data before I ask. I'm getting "incompatible update" errors when trying to reinstall Facebook and Mixzing. Now, I had those apps installed and working on my previous ERE25 based ROM, however, I was at the time using the Dark 24K theme, which modified them. When I went to ESE53, I didn't nandroid, I just used update.zip, and that of course reinstalled the stock theme, which may be causing the problem. It's not showing those two apps in my installed apps list. When I check them in the market, they show "installed", but I am able to redownload and reinstall them, I just get the error during install.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've had this issue since the 2.2 leaks (2.2.9-2.3.15 and now with RubiX) and have finally gotten tired of it. When downloading apps or updates from the market, 1/2 the time it'll finish downloading but then won't install. It just hangs there at 100% and nothing happens no matter how long I leave it there. I have to cancel download and then re-download, sometimes multiple times, before it'll install it automatically. This happens with every app, and while I do eventually get everything install, it will still very annoying. Does anyone else have this issue?
