View 4 RepliesI use a headset with a microphone for Pandora. It has a media button on it that when pushed, will pause or play the Pandora app or accept a phone call in which case Pandora is paused. However, pushing the button with the X brings up the voice command window. Is there anyway to disable or remove this app altogether? If it can be removed, I want to be sure that this app is not associated with the talk to text feature, which I use and like. is there any way to disable or remove this application from the X?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was watching TV, and playing with my phone, and saw a commercial that mentioned how you can launch certain apps and do certain actions via voice commands. I had forgotten about that frankly, and have only used it to navigate before. So I tried to launch a song. No go.
So, after a very brief google search, I found this:
Just speak it: introducing Voice Actions for Android - Official Google Mobile Blog
I updated the voice search app (even though it didn't show up in market without the direct link), and tried again to launch a song. Again, no go.
Apparently it only works with online radio apps like Pandora. It doesn't work with the Music player that comes with the damn phone! I mean seriously, how stupid is it that you can't tell it to play a song from your SD card but you can call up a radio channel (and not actually get to hear that song)?
Anyone know any other ones besides "Navigate To" and "Call"?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI found some hidden programs for Moto Droid. Open Voice Dialer (Not Voice Search) and say
1. Open APN
opens APN settings
2. Open SIM Card Lock
opens sim card lock settings.
3. Open Battery Info
opens detail battery information
(Note I'm referring to the google Voice Search utility, not the Voice Dialer utlity)
So far: I've confirmed that 3 special voice commands work on my Droid X:
CODE:............
However, there are supposed to be more (from my research), but none of the following is working:
"Call <contact> mobile/work/home/etc" to call that contact
"Dial <number> " to dial the number
Has anyone discovered any other working voice commands?
This has been an issue since the first day after I installed all my apps via appbrain (roughly 300). It takes ~36 seconds for it to open. I am starting to think I am the only one experiencing this. Does anyone have any ideas?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been playing around with the new voice commands in Froyo (Sending Txts, Calls, etc.), and I've noticed that while the feature is cool in theory, it seems to fail in practice. To be more specific, the Voice software can't seem to recognize any name that isn't John Smith, David Samuels, etc.
As an example, I have repeated tried to use it to text a friend of mine who's name is Ryanna (pronounced like the singer). I have tried using "Ree-ahna", "Ree-anna", "Rye-anna", "Rye-ahna", and other methods of pronouncing it, but all of them fail. The software doesn't even bother to take a guess!
Is there any way to "train" the software to better recognize names?
I was just wondering if the Droid can handle voice commands such as "Play Music", "Party Shuffle", "Play (Artist)", "Play (Song)", "Play (Album)", "Open Email", "Play (Video)", etc, etc; or if there are plans for this in the future firmware? I personally could make use of this, especially "Play (Artist)". I tried to make it play a song and it called my grandma ):
Also, can anyone tell me the difference between voice search and voice dialer? It seems like when I use voice dialer, I say "Call Home" and a list of options pops up of who to call (one choice being Home) (When I wish it would have just automatically called Home), but if I use voice search it automatically does call Home.
I recently rooted and ROM'd. It used to work that when I held down the little magnifying glass in the lower right corner of my screen it would bring up a voice search that let me say pretty much anything... navigate to [here], call [this person]. It's stopped doing that. Now when I hold it down it brings up a little message saying "you haven't enabled quick compose, please enable it from handcent settings"

View 5 Replies View RelatedOne of the great features of the the 4th soft button is to hold it down to bring up the voice search prompt. A this prompt there are several commands that are extremely helpful, such as: "Navigate to <place>" opens Google Navigation and gives you directions to <place> "Call <contact> work/home/etc" will call that contact. (Is there a way to set a default so that you can just say "Call <contact>" and it automatically calls that person's cell/home/work?) "Locate.../Map of.../Find..." will all open and search google maps.
"Driections to <place>" will open google maps and give you directions to <place> "Look up <place/thing/etc>" will do a google search
Now that we have Bluetooth Dialing working, does anyone know of printed instructions anywhere? With WinMo 6.1, you could simply say "Help", and it would tell you a list of commands. does 2.2 only allow for voice dialing and nothing more?

View 4 Replies View RelatedHTC Desire, Android 2.2, new Google Voice Search
Several commands - 'send text to', 'send mail to', 'note to self' and 'go to' - are missing. They are not parsed, and they do not appear in the Help list when voice search is launched.
Is this because I don't use the standard HTC message, mail and browser apps, by any chance? (But they are still on the phone, of course.)
I noticed that if I just speak a web search, it launches the HTC browser, whereas Dolphin is my dafault browser.
Either through an application or on the default music player?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm not sure I get Google and the Android strategy regarding music. Android has largely removed support for SD cards. Most phone makers are no longer including SD cards. It would appear that for large music libraries, Google wants us to use the cloud, yet....... I can't do a simple voice command to play music stored in the cloud rather than on the device. The results come back with "no results found". The only time it finds the music is when it is actually on the device.
So, I can either constantly have to manually manage a play list (since 32gig is not nearly enough space) or not use voice commands. I don't get it.
So I just got the Samsung Galaxy S4. Whenever I try to use S Voice, it never listens to my commands. If I press the microphone button S-Voice immediately says "I didn't hear that. Please say it again" with literally NO time for me to ever say a single thing. Also, saying "Hi Galaxy" never gets it to pick up on me either.
View 6 Replies View RelatedQuick question that probably has a simple answer..
When I hook up this phone via the audio jack it repeatedly asks for voice commands instead of just going into playing some music.. anyone know of any setting to maybe disable this or some way to correct it?
This is my first android device and i'm loving it... but one thing that irks me is the use, or lack thereof, of the back button.
As I am navigating menus and options in the Settings, I cannot simply go back one menu using the back key. For example, if I go to Settings->Battery Manager->Battery Profile Options and want to go back to the Settings screen, I cannot.
Pushing the back button does nothing and I can only go back to the Settings menu by going Home, then re-entering.
Another quirk regarding the back button is when reading emails. Using a regular email account such as Hotmail, I cannot simply read an email and go back to the inbox using the button.
It makes navigating the phone very tedious.
Don't burn me at the stake, but I want to switch back from Google Voice, but when I switch to carrier voicemail, it asks for a voicemail number, which I assumed was my phone number, but when I enter that, calling voicemail just goes to voicemail, as if someone called me. My reason for switching is because the SMS feature is about 25% accurate and when I turned that off, I stopped getting sotifications that I had received a Voicemail.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI changed the voice mail number from *86 (version default) to my Google voice number. This works when I am not answering the phone and I the caller gets connected to my GV account. But when my phone is not in coverage the caller gets my version voice mail. Appreciate if someone can correct my settings or suggest any app that does it. I am from Windows mobile world and missing those settings when you can define several settings for voice mail (unanswered, rejected, unavailable etc...)

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm finding that I'm using the back button A LOT whether browsing the web or just navigating the OS. It kind of sucks because the buttons on the droid x are well, really small, and sometimes hard to press because they are so narrow and flimsy feeling. And depending on how you are holding the phone, it could be a good bit of distance for your thumb to travel or I'm finding myself having to reposition the phone in my hands just to reach the back button, which you seem to need very frequently.
Anyone know of any kind of back 'swipe' implementation ? Like some software you can install that makes it if you swipe left to right on maybe the top bar it goes back?
It just started randomly. If I pinch to go to Page order or open or close folders the phone is giving me voice feedback. I've turned off talk back and all its options.

View 1 Replies View RelatedOK I've been with Sprint for.. well since I first got a cell phone. I got the Moment recently, and have ONE major (for me) issue with it. I loved the feature in Sprint's V-mail, that allowed me to connect directly to another Sprint users V-mail. It was a great time saver, allowed me to just leave the message & get on w/ my day (ok I admit it, it was mainly used to avoid talking to my mother when I knew she was in a bad mood)Since I got the Moment, even when I call my v-mail directly, said option is no longer there. Borrowed my g'friends phone for a minute, and the options is still there for her. I checked Sprint's forums, and couldn't find anything about them changing the v-mail with the Moment.
