Motorola Droid X :: Why Wouldn't 2.2 Download For Droid 1 Not Work?
Aug 5, 2010
I am not sure to the exact answer to my question. Is it because the moto widgets are difference from the droid 1?We have almost the same phone. So why wouldn't 2.2 for droid 1 work? There has to be a better explanation than, it just doesn't.

That goes without saying but it appears that it flashes the bootloader so I would hold off on doing it if you like root.It could mean that we cant flash sbfs anymore, it could mean that we get a locked down bootloader and it could mean nothing,I am getting this from looking in the file and could be completely wrong though.

I've been reading the wifi threads on here, the Verizon forums, and the Motorola site forums. I've changed the router settings on my home wifi router according to directions found on those sites. For the first time today, I tried wifi at a different location. It worked perfectly at first, but dropped the connection after about 20 minutes and wouldn't reconnect. It shows that it's connected, but data won't refresh.
So my question is, is the wifi problem with the Droid X something that everyone is afflicted with when trying to hook up to 802.11n routers, or is it only some Droid X's. The 3G signal in my house and at work isn't strong enough for me to download larger files like audio books without timing out. I'm wondering if it's worth trying for a replacement or if I should wait for some kind of software fix. I don't hold out much hope for that anytime soon - the Verizon rep was completely unaware that there was any kind of issue with wifi on the Droid X. I know they are generally clueless, but I would think if it was widespread enough they would have at least heard about it...
After dealing iwth this, I understand why Droid X owners are using 5X as much data as other Verizon smartphone users. We don't have wifi options...

I am taking a trip to Asia starting tomorrow. I wanted to know, does the GPS on the droid actually work globally as the name implies? And even if it does work, without service in that region google maps will most likely not work for directions, however is there a way or an app that can download maps of the region for the GPS to work off of?

I no longer have the original sd card with the hot sync software. I had to reset my phone and the sync wouldn't work. I uninstalled the hot sync from my computer not realizing the software was on the sd card. Is there another way to get the software downloaded to my computer.

I did a factory reset because i thought it would fix a number of problems i had before and after the 2.1 OTA.
1. HTC's weather app wouldn't update on it's own or manually (sometimes) (not a force close issue)
2. Mobile network issue. Places where i would get 3-4 bars got 1-2 (sometimes 3) and the "D" under 3G mostly changes to the up down arrow. This was on 1.5 and might have to wait maybe another day to see if this continue on 2.1.
3. apps is my main issue. I know all the apps are in the download section on the market and i saved my apps in the SD card but when I reinstalled, scores and profiles from different apps and not there. Is there a way to restore the apps to where there they where before the factory reset instead of the apps acting like it's been just downloaded.

I am trying to download mp3 files from my file server onto my Droid. Everytime I try to download a song I get the error message Download Unsuccessful. I thought it was a problem with my server but all of my computers can download from it, and I just went and got my mom's Droid ERIS to test. It could successfully download mp3 files from the server. This is ridiculous, why wouldn't my Droid be able to download these files but the ERIS can? Is this a case of Droid DOESN'T?

I just downloaded this from my rooted phone and here you go guys. I recommend waiting for a cooked zip as it messes with the recovery and bootloader just from looking at the zip file.
File name: Blur_Version.1.13.604.MB810.Verizon.en.US.zip

Has anyone tried Giro Tuneups (Skull Candy) or something similar to listen to tunes and talk hands free while boarding or skiing? I'd like to be able to voice dial my droid while it is inside my ski parka (I know BT voice dialing isn't supported) but I wonder if anyone has had success with the wired versions..

I dont know if this should be in the Accessories or not but here we go.Like some people I orginally had the Droid 1 and Verizon upgraded me to the Droid 2 for a warranty replacement. The multimedia station works great but as everyone knows the car mount does not work. Does anyone know if there is a way to modify the Droid 1 car mount to work with the Droid 2 or if there is a way to buy just the new "face plate" on the car mount for the Droid 2 since they do look similar and it appears that they are the same car mount with just a different "face plate" that attaches to the phone.

As a long term BB user, I was disappointed to find out I could no longer tether when I got my new Droid. The most common fix I've seen on the web seems to be PDAnet. I was wondering if anyone was already using it and how it worked? Also concerned how it will impact Vz contract?

Tasker does not seem to function unless I use the motorola control panel and turn on bluetooth, wifi, and gps. If I shut these off via the control panel then tasker does not turn them on at the appointed times and events.Which begs the question, is tasker REALLY turning them off? or are the icons just going away in the notification bar (because they still show as on in the control panel widget)Has anyone else noticed this issue?

I have noticed much better download speeds since updating to the most recent 2.2 leak (same as the OTA) even though i dont have the new radio. i rarely (if ever) got above 1Mbps. now i've been hovering anywhere between 1.8 and 2.0. i'm very happy about this. before, i was around 600-800k. Where is everyone else? I'm curious about how speeds are in different parts of the country, and if you have before/after results.

I have an email with a link to a pdf file. When I click the link, its starts the download process, but then hangs at a white screen. I notice the first word in the web address is "secure", such as www.secure.anything.com. The same link opens flawlessly on a dinc, but won't open on an X. Is there some security setting that needs to be changed?

Fission 2.0.1 Available to download for Droid X. Looks like a good one.
I do not take credit for this Rom only sharing the information. Great ROM. I keep trying Rubix and Apex and keep coming back.
Team Defuse for your hard work and great ROM.
Download
PLEASE READ EVERYTHING ON THIS FRONT PAGE CAREFULLY BEFORE INSTALLING.
If you are coming from any ROM besides Fission then SBF before you install this.
If you are on Fission and did not SBF before you came to Fission then SBF too.
Do NOT clog thread with posts like "how can I find SBF" If you take 2 minutes to look around you will find it.
YOU WILL NEED TO DO THE COMPLETE INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS.
This ROM does NOT lose root. You must install root from market or check /sdcard/fission/addon for superuser.apk, bootstrap and terminal.

Fission 2.0.1 works on new baseband or old.
DO NOT INSTALL ANY THEMES FOR THIS ROM UNLESS THEY ARE MADE FOR FISSION 2.0. THAT EVEN INCLUDES THEMES FOR FISSION < 2.0. Almost all apps are different and are Android 2.2.1 versions.
Themers please get in touch with me before you release your themes. I would like to test them first because a couple of old ones caused problems and I will work with you to get them right. Fission will only support themes that are made for Fission.

I'm new to the whole "android" experience; coming over from Sprint using a Palm Pre. Question: I have XM on my vehicle and I have unlimited internet usage on my Droid. If I download the XM radio app to my droid, is there a fee for usage for that app? I noticed it was not in the market.
Also, I've never purchased an app before in the market. Does that get billed to your phone account or can you have it directed to a credit card?
