Motorola Droid X :: Why No Flash Motion?
Jul 16, 2010
I understand we don't have 2.2 and Flash 10.1 isn't compatible with 2.1 BUT when I was playing with a Dinc at Verizon I opened our business web site (which has too little bars that go back and forth via flash) and I tried the same with my X and it doesn't work? is there something installed in the Dinc or something that I need to install in my X? I've heard of this Flash Lite, but coming from a RIM user this is all new to me.

Other than being briefly listed as a feature on the upcoming Droid X, no additional information has been provided regarding the "super slo mo" that the Droid X video camera is supposed to be capable of.Is this feature still a go? I went to the Motorola website and it isn't even mentioned. Could they have pulled it?I always thought that super slow motion video required quite a jump in frames per second (fps). As far as I know, the Droid X camera can only do 24 @ 720P. Maybe it will do super slow-mo only at the lower resolutions. If anyone has tested this feature, or has confirmed that it is or is not there, please let us know.

All the new features sites said Flash 10 was part of Driod 2.2. 2.2 was pushed to my phone overnight and I installed it. However when I go to the Adobe Flash showcase, it says I don't have flash installed. So I search the market place and do not see flash as a download. Is this just something that will come later? I really don't read up on Driod all the time so I don't know all the news, just a regular user.

I have gotten both the Flash Player and Flash Lite APK's, and I have been trying to install them on the Droid. Flash Player refuses to install on stock 2.1. Flash Lite installs, but after install I can not connect to the internet (Nothing connects, Skype, market, random app, browser.)
So I wanted to know if anyone wanted to do some testing with them, to see if you can get them running on the ROM you are running. Maybe we will be able to make fun of iDevices earlier, because Droid Does what iDont

Flash Player: FlashPlayer.apk

I rooted using the SMUpdater and am now running Sholes 2.03. To flash other ROMs, would it just be a matter of downloading the update.zip file and installing that from recovery?

Failure. Ok I rooted using Visionary. Everything works great but my camera will not open so I thought I would flash with 2.2 and start over. See if that was the issue. I did a hard reset of the system and the phone is still rooted which I understand. My problem is I can't seem to figure out how to successfully flash. I downloaded both RSD Lite and SBF 2.2. I have attached my Droid X to my PC and checked debugging. I have opened the Droid X window on my PC which only shows my SD Card. I then go to my folder holding both RSD Lite and 2.2. I click on RSD Lite and open it and install it. After that I'm lost. Nothing happens. What am I suppose to do move forward.

So I downloaded droid x bootstrapper and ROM manager, removed my NEXTHEME and black status bar, and when I tried to install the stock droid x 2.2 file from ROM manager it failed. not only that, all of my apps except for superuser app were deleted including launcher pro once it booted back up. it's almost as if I have a stock phone (i chose reboot from the recovery screen. did this flash the SBF by chance?) still says 2.1 update 1 for version. I get the following code...

As the title says, flash isn't working. Even if I go to here: Adobe Flash showcase for mobile (BETA) and click on a show it won't load. It looks like something is happening, but I can't view anything and after several minutes of waiting I give up. Is this a known problem and is there a solution?
If I go into astro and find com.adobe.flashplayer I click on the launch button and it says activity not found -com.adobe.flashplayer. I have droid w/ bb 0.2.1 running 800Mhz. I haven't added a new kernal or any theme.

If your battery dies while flashing a ROM it can be a pain to get up and running again. If you battery is less than 40% charge it before you flash a ROM. Seemed to be a growing number of people having issues with this recently so I thought I would post.

I just rooted my phone a bit ago and tried a few different roms on Rom Manager. I got to the Ultimate Droid 10 New Era or something one and now I'm stuck in a bootloop. It keeps loading the UD circle and flipping it then goes blank and repeats. What do I need to do to get it out of this? edit- I held X while turning it on to get into the clockwork menu and nandroid to try to restore the boot but it still didn't work. Was still looping the Ultimate Droid boot screen. edit again- I went back to that menu and restored system this time. Still loops but its the original droid boot screen now.

I just flashed back to 2.1 using RSDlite 4.7 and the sbf file, but is my operating system up to date? As soon as I flashed it, i rooted it and that all works fine, but i hear that rooting doesn't allow OTA updates. I went into settings and found that my phone said it was up to date, but idk if this is accurate with rooting right after the sbf flash.

Is the droid ever going to be able to see flash player? Adobe now states "not available for your device" when it used to say "coming soon".

A few things I've noticed so far:
1) Flash volume is independent of phone volume. I turned phone to silent mode, and Flash player still blared on.
- in Dolphin browser, volume buttons used for scrolling. I can probably change this, but shouldn't have to
- I was trying to run flash to see how hot my battery got, but the volume was too high and annoying
2) Flash volume control can not be modified. I pressed the volume button, but could not adjust the volume.
3) Flash player stops when screen turns off, or the web browser is not the active application. Not very helpful while listening to radio stations.

I just rooted and have the superuser icon in my tray. I installed ROM manager and did a manual download of Ultimate Droid 0.8 and placed it in a directory on my SD card. I went to ROM manager and did an install from SD card, went to the directory, clicked the ROM and when prompted for Backup/Wipe chose wipe, I previously did a backup with Clockwork upon installing it. The phone reboots to a triagle with exclamation point and does nothing else. A battery pull will bring my phone back. What am I doing wrong?

The screen lag is kind of driving me nuts in 2.2 and I'm thinking about going back to 2.1 for a while to see if i miss the updates in 2.2 enough to live with the homescreen lag.
I've installed LauncherPro and the screen redraws are better, but still happen enough to annoy me.
I'm not sure if i use flash too much, but i know i need 2.2 for it. But what about the updates to gmail, youtube, etc? Do those show in the market if I'm on 2.1?
Also, I didn't root until 2.2 so I don't have a backup of my 2.1. Is there a simpler way to flash back to 2.1 without using RSD? The link I found to an image for 2.1 to flash no longer works.

I, like a boss, jumped right on the 2.2 leak and updated my phone right off the bat. Lost root, came to the forums, realized that copying a single file could have saved me, cried a bit inside my heart, and finally started the process to flash back to "stock" so that I can re-root, and update the right way without losing root again.
So I downloaded the .sbf file. Downloaded RSDLite 4.6 and attempted to flash. Error: can't access the INI file... sigh
Downloaded RSDLite 4.7 and attempted to flash. Error: Your phone isn't compatible with multi-blah blah blah...
Googled here and there and searched our happy old forums. No luck. Just stupid people giving stupid advice like "try a different USB port". Did I mention I hate people who just reply to a thread with a lame ass "suggestion" even though they clearly have no clue what they're doing?
So I need to know if there is another way to flash back to 2.1 or 2.0.1 (whichever the case may be) so that I can do this upgrade the right way without losing root?
Also, would one of the mods/admins please go back and edit the original "HOW-TO upgrade to 2.2" thread in the basic Droid-X forum and put a huge bold disclaimer for those of us who have our phones rooted to GO TO THE THREAD IN THE "ALL THINGS ROOT" FORUM AND READ THAT FIRST....
Could have saved all my troubles if this information was stated in the first place. I know this is sounding like I'm complaining. Which I guess I am. And I know it's my fault for not reading more before I went ahead and jumped in to the update. But seriously, one little line of text could have saved so many of us so much trouble.
