Is the market app the only was to install applications? The reason I ask is because I went to Android Market and was reference to BooRah but I could not find it within the market application.
Also, is there a way to clear out the search data from the market app?
Ive been real resilient against rooting. In fact i just recently dl'd launcher pro plus (which i absolutely love). No particular reason aginst rooting other than i have a knack for screwing things up. Comin from an iphone, this is all new to me. Basically I love my setup now with lpp and my custom wallpaper and custom icons. I really really want a black status bar though. whats the easiest way to do that (and eventually other things, but for now just the bar, and a few root apps). I understand the simpleoneclick root process and will be doing that later. then i need to install bootstrap app? then deodex- easiest way is the 928droid black glass from what i understand. and follow the all-in-one guide post and poof im done? questions: will this change all my icons, wallpaper, or affect lpp in any way (if so, how can i fix it back). Is the 928 a rom (and what exactly does that mean)? it changes the sliders and everything? does it automatically include a black status bar (with white text etc...) What do i need to do to get JUST a black status bar. how would i go from the 928 to a different rom? .....

View 19 Replies View RelatedI'm very intimidated by terminal emulator because I've never used such a thing and it seems like a powerful tool. Many of the roms I'm considering offer special scripts (like Overclock or switch apps) that I'd like to be able to use.Would someone mind sharing exactly step by step how to use terminal emulator to install a program or use a custom script. Are there settings in terminal emulator that I should adjust? Basically I open TE and see a blue screen (yes reminds me of BSOD).Then what.just type the script instructions verbatim? After typing do I use the enter key to run?I'm looking at Fab's Apex Rom.Maybe that will help give an idea as to what options/scripts I'd like to be able to tinker with.Maybe a short video tutorial would help?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have Samsung Galaxy ACE which is rooted. Till y'day I was using CM9 Beta 8 ICS 4.0.4 and it was working well.
I installed CM10 JB for Galaxy Ace alpha1 from "hxxp://maclaw.pl/?page_id=180#comment-3642"
Now the problem is, JB doesn't have File Manager installed and I need to install TB to revert my backups.
Due to some unknown reason I am not able to access internet on my device either through GPRS or 3G connection.
I am desperately looking for a way to access my SDCARD wherein I have all my apk's which I can install however, without File Manager I am not sure how to install an apk.
I did some google search and came across topics about installing apk using Android SDK etc.. however I would not want to work on SDK as I feel its bit tedious job for me.
I also tried Android Injector however that didnt work even if I have enabled USB debugging Mode for adb + apps.
Now, I am hoping that, I can use the Terminal Emulator which is preinstalledo n my phone to install apk present on my sdcard.
However, I am not sure how to do that, what are the steps to install apk present on my sdcard from Terminal Emulator available on my phone.
Here are some of the screen captures [URL] ......
After installing 2.2 ver 2.3.13, I erased cache and personal data (shouldn't have I know but the step by step said to do so) and lost my root somehow kinda. Easy Root said I was rooted, but most of my root apps except for Drocap didn't work , saying they needed root access. After typing su in Better terminal, it said su permission denied. A buddy of mine gave me the zip Droid2root (said it was the same for Droid 2 and X), he also gave me a link to a SWEET step by step using an emulator and then "force closing" the emulator then going back to it and finishing the typing of the rest of the commands. It worked great until, I did a factory rest to try to fix a minor problem I had with my contacts shortcut force closing on me. Well, after the reset, I lost root again, but I couldn't find the link again either. If anyone knows the link, PLEASE, PLEASE let me know. The title had something like "rooting the lazy or easy way" in it, and again it used an emulator.
Even when I try adb shell though my emulator it says: /data/data/com.magicandroidapps.bettertermpro/bin/sh:adb: Permission denied
Alright so, I've recently rooted my phone and I installed terminal emulated, I have superuser permissions and I'm semi-familiar with both. I got an app called Barnacle Wifi Tether and when I try to run the app, it says permission denied and it doesn't ask for superuser permission. When I go into terminal emulator and type in su it says permission denied.I forget the code to manually give SU to something like Barnacle...I'm tech savvy but not Droid savvy yet so be gentle!

View 2 Replies View RelatedHow much are you using the terminal, and what kind of stuff do you use it for? Which emulator are you using? I like the idea of tinkering with command line on my phone, using it to do simple stuff, partly as a fun way to get reacquainted with it, as I use to use command line a little bit with XP and ubuntu. I've batted around between Better Terminal Emulator Pro and Terminal Emulator. One confusing thing is that they seem to use different commands. For example, in terminal emulator the help command brings up a help menu, in TEP it is unrecognized as a command. What accounts for these differences? Lastly, any suggestions for lists of commands and tips for using them, in a way that will work with these emulators?

View 1 Replies View RelatedAlright, I'm new using android phones and I know there a tons of unnecessary apps running on the background. Coming from a BB user, I used to shrink my OS so I could use only what I needed. I found out that a lot of of preinstalled stuff on my phone that is always running on the background, skype mobile, amazon crapware, my verizon, and so much more. I searched how to remove all that stuff and I found out that I need to root my phone, I rooted my phone, and now I want to know what do I need to know in order to use adb, or access the phone using the terminal.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI don't know the name of the method I used but its the one that calls for you to place the file called "PC36IMG.zip" on the root of your sd card and then reboot into the boot loader. I followed the instruction and it seemed to flash ok, but now i'm trying to find out where to find the terminal/CLI so I can delete unwanted stock app like amazon music shop or nascar tv. All the instructions say to open the terminal or CLI and type in a particular path in order to delete the apks that those apps use. The problem is the guides never say where to find the terminal. Is it somewhere on the phone? Is it something I download, do i need to connect the phone to a linux computer to find the terminal?

I have an application that differs for different languages by resources.
Is there a possibility to install the same application on Android several times?
So, as a result I will have German version, French version, English version of the same program, but each installed as a separate applications with different icons.
Currently a team of developers is working on Android application and during the development process testers already have to test the current state and report issues.
So far I have simply installed the application by connecting the tester's device on my pc and hit run in the IDE. This way we waste a lot of time if an application has to be installed on multiple devices multiple times daily.
What I would like is to send the testing team the .apk file and let them install and run the application by themselves.
Does anyone know what's the best way to do it?
I want to install the Photoshop mobile on my emulator. I need to do test the Photoshop.com Mobile integration for image editing. But I dont know how to do that. I cannot access the market from the emulator.
Can anyone tell me how I can install it on my simulator.
Any1 been able to do fun and exciting things to improve the android experience and/or fix bugs using Terminal editors, and the programs stored in /System/Bin? I've been playing around with some of them basically just looking @ command syntax for the different programs. Some of them seem promising, and some of them look like they can make ur eris into a stylish paperweight. One app i actviated was $ Toolbox, the only thing this did was echo back Toolbox! in the termina editor lol. Ive seen posts where ppl used dmesg to find out how the internal memory was partitioned. I'll admit i'm a total linux shell newb, but playing around with it is fun for me.
