Motorola Droid X :: Too Many Outmoded Programs / How To Turn Off?

Jul 20, 2010

How do I turn off the apps that are redundant that I don't need? I use Handcent but the messages also come up in the other Txting apps. I only need one. Contacts. I have Exchange Server which has my contacts. How do I turn off the other contact apps/widgets? I have 3 dialers and the one I surely don't want is the standard one. But when I hit the button on the bottom left, a window comes up asking me to choose. One of the biggest complaints I have with the X is all the extra clicks you have to make to get something to happen. Too many steps which waste time. Yeah, you can argue the flexibility is desired in some cases but not when it costs productivity.

Motorola Droid X :: Too Many Outmoded Programs / How to Turn off?

Motorola Droid X : Programs Launch On Their Own

Aug 23, 2010

Each evening i plug my Droid X into the charger and place it screen down on my night stand. Last week i woke up to my Droid playing a YouTube video from a website-a car chase with police which scared me awake and i tried to get it to stop playing which it did. I settled down and after a few minutes while trying to go back to sleep i heard the voice command asking me "which number?" and it began dialing some number. Well i stopped that and turned the phone off and on again and went back to sleep. Last night I heard it again asking me "which number" and it called my wife's cell phone!

Each incident happened around 3:30 AM.

Update:

This morning 09/17/2010 5:20 EST i was awakened by a video playing on my Droid X! When i go to sleep i place the X face down on the night stand whit the charger plugged in. Anyone else have this experience?

Has anyone experenced this or does my Droid X have a ghost ?

Motorola Droid :: What 3rd Party Programs Do I Need To Root?

Oct 6, 2010

i am seriously considering joining the root party, but the number of 3rd party programs needed seems daunting. can anyone compile a list of all the software/download links you need to do it correctly? i have already read the following threads and am pretty set on using BuglessBeast 0.5 as my new ROM.The Official One-Click Rooting Solution for Droid Thread LATEST: V2.0.4.Painless and Thorough ROM Switching in Under an Hour.i know those threads mention Motorola Drivers, Soup or Root, ROM Manager, Nandroid, CW Recovery, and a few other programs. which ones do i absolutely need, and is there possibly an easier way than the one posted above to load BuglessBeast after i am done with the root? when i first started looking up info, i figured rooting would be the hard part; now it appears that loading the new ROM is much more complicated. i know there is alot of info already posted here, but sifting through it all for the useful bits is an arduous task. please be nice to the newb!

Motorola Droid :: So Many Background Programs Running?

Nov 7, 2009

It seems like whenever I play around on the phone for a bit and the go to close my apps with TaskPanel the following are always running even though I didn't touch them:

Alarm Clock
Corporate Calendar
Calendar
Settings
Messaging (even though I have not used it at all)
and one other that isn't showing up right now but was something like mobile.? or

Some of these I don't care if they're running (I assume the Calendar is running since I need it to run for my Google calendar widget to work), but why is Alarm Clock and Corporate calendar always running? Is there a way to turn these off?

Motorola Droid :: Stop Programs From Loading

Jan 29, 2010

I have read quite a bit on task killers and decided that I didn't want to use them, but a friend of mine who has a G1 brought up an interesting point. He told me to look at the programs that are currently running. So I did and saw that there were about 7 that were running in the background that I NEVER use. I understand that you don't want to be constantly shutting down programs you use because it will make your phone run slower (can't access them as quickly). But what about programs I never use? I only use the GMAIL ap, so I don't need the email or the corporate email running. I don't have virtual voice mail, so I don't need that... and so on. Right now, rooting is beyond me, so I'm not going to do that. Are there any other options other than rooting to keep these from loading?

Motorola Droid : Get Programs To Load In The App Tray

Mar 25, 2010

If I use a standard app tray, anyting I download from the market gets put in it right away. But I have been trying all kinds of things lately that wont. The only way I can get them loaded is to turn off the phone and turn it back on again. Home++ is one of those. I have also tried some other roms that does the same thing.

I'm using the free Advanced Task Killer app save as much battery life as possible.

After I "kill" all the apps, the same programs tend to run all over again (Alarm Clock, Corporate Calender, Settings, etc). How do I block programs that I don't use but tend to open continually?

Motorola Droid : NON Pandora Internet Radio - 2.2 Programs?

Jun 6, 2010

Just fired up SHOUTcast via TuneWiki and the music is no good. Sounds like a bad mp3 rip when it gets all garbled, if you pirates know what I mean

Tried a bunch of different stations and same thing, with major lag and disconnects. I guess I found the answer, Froyo support TuneWiki does not work on FroYo (partly)

Anyone else having issues with another internet radio program?

Motorola Droid X : CompanionLink Pro Is Horrible - Any Other Outlook Sync Programs?

Sep 24, 2010

Why Moto wont offer a simple sync program is beyond me.

Anyhow, I am using Outlook 2007 (non-Exchange) with my company email and Cals. I was wondering if there is a DIFFERENT method for transferring my items from the PC to the DX that anybody has had luck with.

1. Not interested in syncing from Outlook to Google to the phone. PITA.
2. CompanionLink Pro @ $139... wow, you would think it works but it doesn't (and yes, I am transferring in Charge Only mode as described).
3. Their support is close to the worst in the industry. I have now emailed them twice in the last week with zero response.
4. Sometimes the sync works. Sometimes not. Today is a not day. Synced four times and nothing. I have even purged phone contacts and cals to start over. Not working.

Motorola Droid X : Possible To Turn Off 3G

Nov 2, 2010

Is it possible to turn off the 3G (other than using airplane mode)? When I got my droid X a week ago it was working and now it's not. I did turn off a number of things to save battery life and I connect mainly through WiFi but not the 3G connection is not working, no 3G icon on the status bar even with airplane mode off and the phone itself working to make calls (3 bars). I've looked all over "settings" to see if there is a way to turn 3G off and on and don't find anything.
