Well I would like to try a custom rom now. I'm loving the 928 blackglass theme w/ stock rom. but the REVOlution theme looks nice. I want to go w/ a basic clean looking theme or maybe a rom. But do i have to change the rom can I run stock? I'm deodexed with 928 so do I put another theme on this one or do I need to clear data/wipe first?
View 4 Replies View RelatedWell I finally got my Droid today. I love it except for the black speck under the glass. At first I thought it was going to be a couple dead pixels, but I think it is just something under the glass.
Anybody know what the best way to get it exchanged? I ordered it from verizonwireless.com. I would really like to be able to swap it out at the store, but am afraid I will have to send it off and wait on shipping again.
I've read some good things about roms, i just rooted, deodexed and changed my theme to black glass...

View 7 Replies View RelatedHey everyone, I'm new to the forum and was hoping someone might know if the droid 2 has gorilla glass or not. I've searched everywhere and can't find any info on the droid 2's screen material. I know the X and original droid have gorilla glass and was hoping the 2 would as well especially since I just bought one. I have a screen protector on it that I'm not particularly fond of and would take it off if it has gorilla glass.
View 12 Replies View RelatedOk, so now mostly everyone has had time to play with their Droid X, and yet everyone is still worried about possibly scratching the screen on their phone. My question is does the phone has gorilla glass or not?? I saw some Youtube vids where a guy takes a key to the screen and tries to scratch the hell out of it. Yet, not a single visible scratch is seen. Can someone verify that it does have gorilla glass and therefore doesn't really need a screen protector other than for smudge proofing.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've rooted my phone. I've installed SP Recovery and performed a nandroid backup. I'm trying to install Smoked Glass 6.0.1 by placing the file on the root of my sd card and not inside any folder. I boot into SP Recovery and select install and select the file "Smoked.Glass.v.6.0.1-ESE53.rom". Whatever takes place after that while it is installing, is beyond me. I don't receive any type of customization options such as blue theme or no blue theme. It supposedly finishes installing so I reboot the phone and nothing has changed at all, I'm still running whatever I was currently running prior to the install. Any suggestions?

I like the smoked glass rom/themes, but I'd prefer it with green instead of blue. (More androidy.) Is there one out there like this?

View 49 Replies View RelatedYou know where to find it. It was previously "coming soon", and just got put up about an hour ago from what I gather. Just loaded it and smooth, but receiving a call will be the key. If it passes this test, it's all good. Thought I would offer the heads up since he didn't advertise the update, it was just snuck in there.
View 2 Replies View RelatedFirst off, sorry if this has been posted. I searched all over and couldn't find it so if it is, no need to answer. Just point me in the right direction please. Ok - New to rooting- Sick of waiting for 2.1 ota and wanted to wireless tether, and OC. I rooted and installed the newest smoked glass rom 6.0.1 and accidentally removed some apps I didnt want removed. IE youtube. I heave searched about how to restore youtube and I do know how to do it and start over. Is there a way to get youtube back and keep my customized homescreens and new apps? I have searched here and droidforums.net but most posts say "just reflash." Anyone have a little more specifics? I just dont want to lose all my paid apps and customization time.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI now have dust specs under my screen. That REALLY irritates me. It's as bad as a stuck pixel to me. Yeah, I know I'm a bit OCD, but for me this is really upsetting. I keep my stuff in perfect shape, and I've modified all sorts of gadgets to keep them free of debris inside. I have no idea how to get the dust out from under my screen without disassembly. It sticks out to me like a sore thumb. Blowing it out will likely blow more bits under the screen. The edge of the screen is a trap for dust. I was going to use clear silicone sealant, but I figured I had plenty of time to do that given that I've been babying the phone. I've only had the phone for 10 days. I've rooted it, and I've loaded about 140 apps on it, a few of which are paid for. I haven't checked if I can easily "unroot" my phone without losing everything. I also don't know if all the apps I paid for can be transfered to a new Droid if I return this one....I also don't know if they'll just laugh at me for trying to return my Droid for a new one because of a little bit of dust.

View 22 Replies View RelatedSo I ordered a xoskins scratch protector for my droid. It should be here today or tomorrow so my droid is naked right now. Has anyone been able to scratch their gorilla glass? Someone was saying sand can scratch it, but I can't find who said that...
View 49 Replies View RelatedThere has been a lot of discussion about screen protectors - which I have read with interest. Just saw this on Engadget: Corning's darn-near-impenetrable Gorilla glass certainly isn't new -- in fact, we spied it in a few of Motion Computing's tablets just a few months ago -- but it's still not commonplace on mainstream gizmos. Yet. SmartPlanet sat down with Dr. Donnell Walton, senior applications engineer at Corning, in order to discuss the merits of the display technology as well as its importance in the gadget space. The discussion also mentioned that both Motorola's Droid and Dell's Adamo (not to mention Cowon's S9 PMP) are sporting the glass, which acts to make displays "damage-resistant." Not surprisingly, the company is seeing huge demand in the smartphone arena, where touchscreen-centric phones are being shoved into pockets at random and then costing manufacturers big bucks as return rates creep up. It's a pretty interesting read if you're into that type of thing, and yes, we did just give you permission to try and split your Droid display wide open in a moment of frustration. Just don't count on Motorola to accept that as a valid excuse for your RMA.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to disable it? I just double tap to zoom on a web page and never use the magnifying glass popup thingy, it seems to always be in the way (it annoys me) and would like to hide/disable it. Can it be done?
View 2 Replies View RelatedSecond Droid I've got, and the second Droid with specks of annoying dust/dirt/whatever underneath the physical glass so I cannot remove them in any shape way or form. Most of them are RIGHT on the edge of the LCD and the black border. So for most it wouldn't be an issue at all, but I'm very OCD with my electronics and I don't pay $300 for something for it to have defects on the display.
I'm taking this back, and I won't be swapping it for another Droid. Not taking my chances, why go through the same grief? I'm canceling my contract again, before I get slapped with the $36 activation fee and usage fees. This is unacceptable Motorola. I an not bashing the Droid - the thing is freaking awesome and so much fun to use. But until Motorola can produce these phones with proper workmanship and quality control, I cannot and will not.
I installed Smoked Glass 6.01 about a week ago and I REALLY like it. Especially with the Helix launcher. The only thing is that I seem to be missing my YouTube app. Never mind the HD-default I was promised during installation (I didn't accidentally "uncheck" it, it should have installed), but I don't have ANY youtube app. Anyone else have this problem? Or is there anywhere I can simply download the required .apk.
