Dont know if this has been covered, i searched b4 hand and didnt see anything. but i was just wondering. I actually like the new app launcher and installed it from droid-life.com i wanted to kno that if i will still get the update prompt for 2.1 even tho i have this apk?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI gave the update a chance, for something like a week. Finally put Panda back. I had hoped that the update might make it worth it.
I have no idea what the update was really supposed to do in terms of performance but it's been a zero sum game. I don't give a flaming politician about live wallpaper or exploding gallery icons.
I like Panda's pull-outs that go across all desktops and the alphabetical pull-up. The stock phone is really lacking in terms of app organization. Photo organization too.
The market is telling me that it has an "update available" for an app that I have uninstalled quite a while ago. How can I let the market know that this app is not installed?

As most of you know that after downloading it, pressing the home button gives you the option of which home screen launcher that you want to..well.. launch..either HTC Sense or Launcher Pro. Well this morning I picked Launcher Pro, but accidently clicked the "don't ask me this again" box before that, so now I'm stuck on Launcher Pro and can't get back to my, or any, HTC Sense launcher. I've gone all through my settings and can't figure it out. I'd like to either get back to my old HTC Sense home screen, get to the DEFAULT HTC Sense homescreen, or get back to being able to have the option to pick which one I want to launch.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy girlfriend just received her Droid 2 the other day and I have been helping her set it up. There was an available update so I had it installed. Now every time we try to use a browser, any browser, it opens for a second and then it closes to the Home screen right away. No force close, no error message, just poof and it's gone. I didn't install many apps to it like my Captivate because I figured less is more for her. She added her facebook and MySpace accounts but that's about it really.
I looked all over the past few hours and found similar issues but none quite the same. I cleared the cache, cleared the data, nothing. 3G or WiFi made no difference. I tried with the stock browser, Skyfire, Dolphin, and xScope and same results across the board. I turned all location settings off and back on and back off again to no avail. I just did a factory reset 15 minutes ago and nothing has changed. I am going to do it again without allowing the Backup Assistant to do anything. I'll make a fresh google account to see if there's a difference there but I don't think it will work. It's not rooted or anything, it's pretty much fresh out of the box from only 3 days ago.
I read that hulu is blocked on our phones, and someone said to try netflix instead. Well, I have a netflix account and it sounded like a great way to stream something for the kids when we're stuck waiting.Am I missing something? Has anyone gotten either of these to stream on their droid?I'm rooted and running BB v0.4 if that makes any difference.

I can figure out where to change these security settings. Doesn't seem to be in phone settings or browser settings.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was messing around with my phone being bored and went into the superuser permissions app. I was looking at all the entries that were in there and I know that it's just a list of permissions you've allowed on your phone. Anyway I wanted to see what would happen if I clicked on one of them. Well it cleared it from the list and I just clicked on all of them so when I'm in the SU app there is nothing there. Now when I try and get into one of my apps that require permission it tells me it requires root and doesn't have permission. So it looks like I blocked all permissions for my rooted apps. The question is how do I get it back? I'm sure I can just reflash a nandroid backup I have but I was wondering if there is any other way?

I am wondering if there is a way to get the voice dialer to prompt you to choose the contact instead of dialing directly. It's annoying when I say "Dial People's Gas" and it calls "Cheryl" I guess I am looking for the good ole voice promts that ask you "Call People's?" and you say yes or no.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been somewhat lax with my updates on my hero, and have only recently been made aware of the 2.1 android update. i only updated my build number to 2.73.110.91 yesterday, which i had to reinstall the 2.73.110.26 to do so. im under the impression that i should of received a prompt to update to 2.1 over the air? which has not happened. i have tried to /menu/settings/sytem software update, but im told there is no update available.. i have also attempted the 'move the clock forward' trick, but to no avail. have i missed another required update somewhere.

How is Xtralogic if anyone has tried it? Also, is there a command line prompt application for the Droid, so I would have the capability of pinging windows servers, (after establishing a VPN connection of course)? The built-in VPN tool on my phone works fine.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI was running Android 4.4, rooted and CWM installed. Got a notification for 4.4.2 update being ready (like, a week after upgrading to 4.4), and tapped it. Phone reboots into debug mode to install it, but then CWM starts yelling at me saying this zip I'm trying to install is unsigned.
So I stop the upgrade. Phone reboots back into Android 4.4 and I don't get the update notification icon again.
Two questions:
- will I get the update prompt again? if not, can I do it manually while keeping all my stuff like happened on the 4.4 upgrade?
- is the Android 4.4.2 update really unsigned? is there a danger in accepting it?
I'm not sure what to do now since I didn't have CWM flashed when I did the upgrade to 4.4, which went completely smooth.
When visiting a few sites on the Droid, I get a message telling me to install flash. It comes up 3 times before the site finally loads, and I have to cancel each time. What's strange is that even though I hit cancel, everything still loads. Is there any way to disable that notification and just prevent it from attempting to load flash?

Stock 2.1 to Fully Rooted Froyo 2.2
But I probably won't have time to do that until next weekend. In the meantime, is there a way to temporarily disable this update notice?
Im new to the forums here, I have a Droid currently running Froyo and I have been thinking about rooting my phone. I recently picked up and Apple IBook G3 and I was curious if I will have any problems rooting on the Apple OSX. The main reason I'm asking is because I have noticed that some roots require using the command prompt in Windows. I did search the forums for anything I could find but didn't really find anything useful.
The root I am planning on using is Soup or Root. This will be my first endeavor in to Rooting. PS- Mods if I posted this in the wrong place please move it to the correct one

So I just installed that separately except it doesn't appear to have worked correctly. The bars are not transparent when the phone is locked, and I'm sure that's not the only thing that shouldn't be different. How to get the launcher completely working? (I'd take screenshots but that function isn't working...)

Today I heard about an update for the market that includes an auto update feature for installed apps. But I, like many others, do not see this option on the market.
Does anyone have any idea how to get it? or if I can't get it, when can I?
I updated the phone to 2.1 earlier, but it's still at 1.6... when I connected to PC Companion prior to the 'update' it said my phone was up-to date so I'm convinced I didn't actually update anything?
When should I be prompted that an update is available via PC Companion? because when I look in the phone settings and check for updates it says there's one available, but not on PCC?
My brother bring me a Motorola Razr D1 (XT914) and in someway the "SIM CARD SLOT" is "BLOCKED", i has been using many android devices and is the first time that i see that!...
My brother say this happend when he imput the SIM CODE wrong many times and eventualy the SIM card auto block for security reasons..The strange thing is the phone seems to be "BLOCKED" too because i put another SIM from the same carrier and the problem persist.
I just updated my launcher pro beta.. it is now version 18..according to settings applications.so now when i press home it just goes to my original launcher and doesn't even prompt me as to what i want my default to be.i have a milestone and i'm rooted! but help. i hate the stock launcher!

View 7 Replies View RelatedSo I manually updated my phone from 2.0 to 2.1 and was a painless process thanks to you guys I saved it to my SD card then deleted that file later.I have a quick question though. My phone is having problems. If I get a new droid but use my same SD card in it, will my 2.1 already be initiated into the new phone, or would i have to OTA the 2.1 on the new phone?Basically, if I stick my SD card (where I moved the 2.1 file to so that I could manually update my OS to 2.1) in a 2.0 phone, will it make that phone go to 2.1?

Step 1:EDIT EDIT EDIT Click the download link and rename .php to .apk.
Step 2 Download the beta on your phone.
Step 3: Go into astro and find the download in your downloads file. Step 4: install and whalah.
It wont let you install it directly from the downloads page for some reason. Dont set as default your first time incase of FC loop.
I have helix launcher(the first one) and I wanted to get 5 screens instead of three so I went to configure it and took off all my widgets like it told me to do. It restarted and I got a FC notification. It's set as my primary home and I can't get the message to stop popping up. I tried restrting my phone several times but before I can press the home button or any button the message pops up again and there is nothing I can do. Is there anything I can do to get past this FC notification?
