View 5 Replies View RelatedGot a UK purchased unlocked Galaxy S, which I'm using in mainland China on China Mobile with a China Mobile SIM. On the screen the roaming R indicator is on, by the signal strength. And going into the about the phone options does indeed indicate that it is roaming internationally, when in fact it's not, because of the China Mobile SIM working on that network. When I was using the phone in Hong Kong, I was using a 3 Hong Kong SIM and the Galaxy didn't indicate it was roaming at all. It did however show the R roaming indicator when I entered mainland China, Where the 3 HK SIM was working on the mainland Chinese networks, both China Mobile and China Unicom. It should not be showing roaming R though when it's using a China Mobile SIM on it's own network though, but it is. I've also tried the SIM in another phone, and this does not show it's roaming at all. Only when the SIM is in the Galaxy? The phone does dire warnings about incurring large data bills for data roaming, when it's not in fact data roaming.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm running Huawei's leaked B934 based on 4.0.3 on my U8815/G300.
how I can disable the roaming indicator /R over the signal strength bars? I live in a 2G only area and Three being 3G only I have to roam, meaning my 3 balance apps and whatnot don't work right because it detects it as roaming.I'm looking for a national roaming sort of setting like the one found in CM7 onwards.
I've been wondering why my service was HORRIBLE in my house when my previous phone had great service. The X would jump from 0-2 bars constantly. I updated my roaming capabilities (*228, option 2) and I'm getting pretty much full bars continuously and my speedtest showed my ping decrease by 100ms, download speed triple, and upload speed double. This may be a drain on peoples' batteries if they haven't updated their roaming capabilities and their service keeps jumping. This may have been discussed before, but I figured it doesn't hurt to repeat for other people who have issues with service.

Also below the" data roaming" it also says" data connection was lost because you" it cuts off and I can't figure out what it says
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am using a Motorola Droid 1 and have run into a problem. My phone is constantly roaming (the little triangle in the status bar is visible) and I cannot program or activate my phone.
This started after this process:
My phone was rooted, Stock 2.2 with superuser (via clockwork) I accidentally applied the OTA Adobe flash update and became unrooted. I attempted to flash a rooted 2.2 with adobe with RSD Lite and loaded the newest baseband
My phone began not working at this point. I get this message when I try to activate via *228 or *22899: "The number or code you have entered is incorrect"......"Message 7 Switch 441"
I tried manually programming via ##PROGRAM, but to no avail.
I have flashed back to 2.0.1, 2.1, 2.2 every version of baseband I could find, but I still am roaming. Under phone status, my network is "Unknown"
Finally, here is what I have right now:
Model number: Droid
Firmware version: 2.1-update1
Baseband version: C_01.3E.03P
Kernel version: 2.6.29-omap-g7fa8788android-build@apa26 #1
Build Number: ESE81
I talked to a verizon tech support guy and he got me as far as being able to make calls on my "unknown" network and roaming status. He thought that he fixed it after that, so I just gave up on that conversation....
Is there a shortcut or widget to simply turn off/on the data roaming option? It would be so much easier than going through home/ settings/ data manager/data delivery/data roaming/click.Don't see anything in the Market that serves CDMA or the X.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI normally live in Houston so I obviously have service there but I go to Texas Tech in Lubbock where this used to be alltel. Now the weird thing is that both the voice and text network (a.k.a the one with no signal next to the bars on the droid) as well as 1X national access, is full Verizon now. However, my 3g is still considered extended network!! ( I know this because if I set my phone to home only I lose 3g or if I put it to evdo only my tag changes to extended network) I know that Verizon said that no updates would go to you if you are roaming so I am kind of stuck as to what to expect about getting it, since I am half roaming lol. I have had the phone on wifi as much as I can but nothing yet. I wondered though if you do it on wifi wouldn't that come out really late since wifi does not connect to the network so wont Verizon have to post it somewhere on a server for the phone to find? I still do not understand where the update goes if you use wifi and how your phone knows to look for it. Also i never got the original OTA for 2.0.1 and waited five days before downloading the file but I would like the OTA if possible. Just mainly wanting to know if anyone thinks it is going to work?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI woke up this morning and noticed that the temp was not showing on my phone, but sometimes it doesn't so I didn't think twice about it. I took it off the dock and went about my morning business. I signed on to my pc and noticed I Gmail mail but got no notifications on my phone. I then picked up my phone to see what was going on and had NO 3g indicator showing on top and could not access the web. I shut it down and turned it back on, got my mail notification and my 3g indicator back and can get online.
Has anyone had this happen before? It totally disconnected from the network it seems? It's never done such a thing before.
I'm heading up North with my new X and want to reduce the VZW data roaming charges in Canada as much as possible, but without losing or reducing my Exchange email service.
I will:
cut back on unnecessary browsing.
stop downloading videos!
turn off background data.
turn off HTML for emails.
use Wi-Fi when possible.
turn off GPS.
Is this the right approach? Any suggestions on other uses or apps to avoid?
Here's a question that comes from an unclear view of how things work : can a a phone be data roaming without being voice roaming? If so how can a begin data roaming event can be detected? This question came to me from the DDMS options , where one can have" data roaming " and "home voice".

View 2 Replies View RelatedI got one from the Dark Gray Status bar theme from over at XDA but would really just like the circle on top of the Nex Theme since its so awesome . Anyone know where I can get one at. Ive searched a lot of other forums and found some for other droids but didn't know if it would work with the X and most of them had to be installed through metamorph.

View 18 Replies View RelatedJust got my hands on a Droid and now I'm working out some kinks. My iPhone and laptop have no problem roaming aggressively between multiple access points we have at work that share the same SSID. I can't seem to get the Droid to do the same thing. I've tried downloading some wifi scanners, but they don't quite cut it. Is there a setting I'm missing? The expected behavior would be for the Droid to happily associate with any AP that shares a "remembered" SSID. Right now, it requires manually going into settings and associating with each and every AP in order for it to hop automatically as I move around the building.
View 4 Replies View RelatedAnyone else notice that the green indicator light is blinking in a different spot? Don't think it's a big deal, maybe it's from the update. I really only noticed it b/c there's a cutout for the light on my Zagg skin and this new light placement is not in the cutout.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI was using the phone reading email and the battery indicator all of a sudden went from 50% to 5% and i got a prompt telling me to charge it. I knew this could not be right and i proved it by surfing the net for 10 mins and watching a video for 75 minutes before the phone died. Has anyone had this happen to them?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have BB 0.9 as well as the smokeless glass theme and noticed that on my SMS app, CHOMPS MS the LED does not work. I try to 'test notification' but the LED does not flash regardless of the color I choose. This is extremely annoying as I don't know when I have a text anymore unless I hear my phone. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, as well as going back to Handcent but still no luck. Is there an easy solution for this? I'm hoping!

View 32 Replies View Relatedmy Droid X is doing something completely unacceptable. It misses calls. There's no ring, no missed call indicator, just suddenly a voicemail indicator pops up to tell me that someone left a voice message.Sometimes it only happens once, and will receive the next call without a problem.Sometimes it'll do it three or four calls in a row.I've already talked to Verizon about it, and they've gone through the script. Before I call to yell at them until they replace the phone with one that works, I'm wondering if anyone else has any experience with the problem.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have noticed that the green 'online' status indicator in Talk doesn't update on my phone when someone signs off, it stays green for them. They show as offline on my PC but continue to show online on the Droid. If I sign out and back in to Talk on the phone it will update their status, but otherwise not. I've tried closing chat but that doesn't seem to work, I don't see anything in settings that would affect it either. Any ideas?
I'm the only one using Android, my other contacts are all using Talk online (not with a phone) if that makes a difference.
Does the battery indicator use a lot of battery power when used ?
