Under Settings > Applications > Quick launch, you can setup hot keys to launch apps. I've tried it a few times, and it sure doesn't seem too efficient to me. And I'm a keyboard shortcut kinda guy. Just wondering if any of y'all found a use for this "feature".

I assume that I am not the only Droid's owner who has this weird experience with the device: sometimes when I touch on a list (e.g., Apps listed on Market) or a web-page. The list or page will rapidly scroll all the way to the bottom of the list or page. Although I experience this at least a couple times every day, I am unable to reproduce this phenomenon at will.Does anyone know what cause this? Is it a bug?
View 15 Replies View Relatedthis is my first post as a Droid user, coming from a BB Curve. Have had about a month with my Motorola Droid and am running into several problems that are a pain. 1. The phone seems to load the corp calendar, gmail, settings, messaging, alarm clock everytime I slide the phone to ON. I have gone into the Quick launch and turned off everything but it is useless. So how do I turn off the quick launches so I don't eat up so many resources. 2. The HOME button obviously has a mind of its own and usually take 3 or 4 touches before it activates and sends me back home. This is especially true if I am on-line or in my gmail. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a fix or is this related to the resource issue? 3. Whenever I open one web site from my BM's it shifts the position of all of the other of my BM's. What is the use of a BM if the OS is going to bounce them around. Idiot design as for as I am concerned. I down loaded the app 'BookmarksBR' and it organizes my bookmarks in BookmarksBR but not in the browser. 4. Other than being slow at times I 'think' I like it better than the BB but jury is still out. Is there any word on OS updates.

I liked quick boot because it allowed me to make a backup of the phone to an sd card. I am still not sure how to use titanium back up so if there is another program suggested that would be great.

I'd like to add more, basically fill this screen with the 12 contacts I contact the most. I cannot figure out how to add more contacts to the screen...it starts out with 4 spots you can fill up, but how do you add more of these? Are these technically widgets or are they called something else, maybe I just am searching on the wrong term and that's why I couldn't find an answer.

I think I need to run the md5sum but I cant figure out exactly what to type in the command box to bring it up right. If it is a problem with one of the files, where can I download other versions? View 25 Replies View RelatedI got my Droid Tuesday, 11/3/09, around 9:30am. I'm enjoying this phone more than any other smartphone that I've used so far, including any blackberry, winmo, and my iphone. The OS is fast, smooth, everything works great. I simply activated my phone, turned it on, it asked me if I had a google account. I signed in and my gmail account, contacts with picture id, and google talk were set up in just a few minutes. The downside is that it doesn't sync with Outlook, no user manual or sync software included with the phone.
You can drop and drag and for ringtones, you need to create a folder, then drop and drag. There is no default video player but you can get one from the Android Market. Actually, you can get almost anything there. You may find other things you'd expect to have on the phone by default, you have to get from the Market. So, it will take some time to get everything set up. I haven't used the camera yet. The keyboard is not the best, but it's useable. The touch screen keyboard is very good though.
I have a Droid running 2.0.1 And I had thought that the Quick Search Box could also locate my music. But it doesn't. Am I missing something?

(a) is not the same thing as what I want and

So I've been using SMS Popup lately, but I've learned that it doesn't play well with the stock messaging application on the Droid X. It will send text messages that have been sent for a whole day back to certain contacts. Anyway, I've just been wondering what else is a good application for quick reply? I love the interface of the standard messaging application. Sure, I wish I could change some colours, but I'm not going to worry about it as it works flawlessly for me. I just wish more people would start adding a quick reply feature with a feature to turn it off for those that don't care for it. So has anyone come across any good applications like SMS Popup? I'm not really willing to go to Handcent or Chomp when stock app works just perfectly.

the spontaneous reboot and shutdowns is getting old quick. If they truly want to measure up to the IPhone, they best be patching this quickly. Or, Android will be like the I'm a PC / I'm a MAC commercials with Android being the less stable, flaky OS.
View 49 Replies View RelatedOn my BlackBerry I used to use ReQall to set calendar events by ReQall's voice recognition.It worked pretty well and understood words and phrases like "tomorrow," "Wednesday," or "next Saturday"; but it could take an hour or more to sync with the Google calendar (and the syncing costs about $30 per year).
Recall for Android is still fairly primitive, so I was looking about for an app that would recognize an event in the form "dinner next Tuesday with Jen at 6 pm." The Market did not have any promising candidates.Then it dawned on me that such functionality is built into Google itself.By sending an SMS to GVENT (set this up on your Google account) you can use SMS together with the phone's voice recognition to add such events by voice. Having set GVENT as a "favorite," it takes only 4 quick taps (and no screen scrolling) to add an event on my calendar, and the synchronization is nearly instantaneous. Much better than ReQall.This is, for me, much easier than manually setting the date and time settings in the phone's calendar app.Hope others might find this useful.

Available here: To all those adventurous souls out there, there is a new 2.1 ROM available at Alldroid that was built from a newer Nexus One build than Greek's. In this ROM, there is an updated music player. While the update is not very significant, it does change it a little bit. -There are no longer buttons for songs, albums, playlists, and artist. They are now tabs and always there. -If a song is playing, a "now playing" bar is always at the bottom of the screen -When you open an album, the album art is in the background of the song list. You can see in the following screenshots: Once you get to the song playing screen, though, it is the same as before. As for overall, the new 2.1 ROM is very good. Improved performance for sure. The gallery is very quick, browser, etc. GPS works, keyboard back light is improved. LED notifications still are quirky.

I'm using Launcher Pro and suspect that's the problem. But what I need is to be able to one-touch dial a dozen or so contacts. (What a concept!) Is there a workaround or some other widget or app that can get me quick access to "speed dial"?
