Motorola Droid :: Problem Running ClockworkMod

Sep 5, 2010

Running 2.5.0.1 Premium and every function I try to use generates this message: "An error occurred while attempting to run privileged commands!" Sucks to pay for something and can't use it. Thoughts before I uninstall it and return it to the Market for a refund?

Motorola Droid :: Lost My ClockworkMod

Aug 6, 2010

I install it and it goes fine but I didn't do a data wipe and the animations were pretty sluggish. So i reflash and do a wipe the next time. Goes perfect but now I have no contacts or calender and noway to sync up for some reason. So i restore to my old rom and go to download the new froyo build again-- i think this is where I went wrong. So when I go to install the newest froyo rom again, the phone rebooted and is stuck on the motorola logo boot up screen same with when I hold X and Power button. I don't know what to do from this point. I can no longer get to the recovery screen.

Motorola Droid :: SPRecovery Vs Clockworkmod Recovery

Sep 19, 2010

I have read through the guides referenced in the sticky but I'm still a bit lost on this sprecovery and clockworkmod recovery or whatever. I've rooted my FRG22 and have the superuser permissions and have installed titanium backup. I will backup my SMS/call log/apps/etc before flashing any ROMs.

I want to now do the nandroid backup business, but I'm lost on whether to use sprecovery or clockworkmod recovery. One of the guides says clockworkmod recovery is easier. I'm not about the 1-click stuff, I'd rather understand what it is i'm doing. Where do I get either of these utilities? Which one is "better" to use?

The concept is that the utility lives on my sdcard and creates a backup image that can then be loaded if manage to flub things up going back and forth between ROMs? Is this the utility that would run when I boot the phone and press X? (Right now if I do that, I just get the phone and exclamation point, i take it because I have no recovery utility installed?) Sorry if this has been covered, I've been reading all evening, just need someone to break it down for me.

Motorola Droid :: What's Difference Between Clockworkmod / SPRecovery?

Jun 13, 2010

I have ROM Manager installed on my rooted Droid. I am trying to figure out the difference between Clockworkmod and SPRecovery. I'm currently running Smoked Glass v.6.0, but would like to try some different ROMs. Also when I change ROMs do I have to rebuy all my apps? Any help given is greatly appreciated as I'm still a noob.

Motorola Droid :: ROM Manager And ClockworkMod - Updates

Jun 23, 2010

To try ROM Manager and ClockworkMod Recovery because it is "obviously superior" in every way, shape and form. So, why so many updates ... especially for CwMod? And why does it seem that every other "update" causes something to break? And why is it that every time I tap on "Reboot into Recovery", it NEVER works. I have yet to have it boot into Recovery even once. It reboots, and that's it. O joy. I have the 'Boot Control' widget that boots into recovery each and every time, without fail.

So far, I'm not too awfully impressed. Sure I see the added functionality. But I'm also experiencing more than my share of FAIL.

Motorola Droid X :: Flash A New ClockWorkMod Recovery

Nov 29, 2010

My friend tried using a ROM Manager on his DX and it doesn't seem to be working right. When trying to flash a ROM it reboots, attempts to boot into Recovery, fails, then boots up normally.

When I boot into into his ClockworkMod recovery manually, it doesn't appear to have all the options like it should. For instance, I cannot create a Nandroid backup or flash stuff from the SD card. Is this normal?

From within the ROM Manger I tried to flash a new ClockWorkMod Recovery but that also fails just like flashing a ROM.

I have an Incredible so I don't wanna screw up his DX so how do I flash a new Recovery for him? I can't create a backup of his stuff so I want to be extra careful.

Motorola Droid X :: ClockworkMod Will NOT Work On Rooted 2.2 - Nor Will SU In Cmd - Can't Deodex

Aug 28, 2010

Just got my Droid X on Wednesday. So I initially tried rooting the manual way (How to get 2.2, Rooted, on your Droid X - Droid X Rooting - AllDroid Public Board - How to get 2.2, Rooted, on your Droid X - Droid X Rooting - AllDroid Public Board - Forum), ran into some trouble. Later found that it may have been due to some Moto driver issues. Was finally able to get the correct Moto drivers in by turning off debugging, plugging in as USB Mass Storage, and then it updated MotoConnect to a version that's apparently not available online.

Anyway, I rooted using the one-click root (DroidXRoot), was able to download wireless tethering which never actually worked. The program runs but it says "Unable to start tether". Don't know if this is related. So I'm trying to get clockwork mod, and I'm trying to deodex. I attempted to Deodex using xUltimate v2.2 and this link ([HOW-TO] Manually deodex your phone.), all ended up working, but when I got to the part where I have to enter the cmd lines, I failed. I run adb shell and it brings up a $ and then i type su and it says Permission Denied. Can't figure it out.

I've also tried installing clockwork through ROMManager, I hit Flash ClockworkMod Recovery, hit Droid X, and it says successfully downloaded ClockworkMod recovery. If i lick reboot into recovery it asks if i'm sure, I say yes, and nothing happens. I've also downloaded the file and placed it on tnhe root of my SD Card but I can't figure out any way to actually install it.

I thought I'd go back and start from scratch 2.1 now that all my drivers are in-line, but of course G** D*** Motorola brought down all the sbfs with their C&D. I've manually installed the Android SDK, I honestly don't even know WHAT I've done now, the files on my desktop that I've used consist of usbdeview, xultimate, DroidXRoot_v2, USB_Drivers, recovery-clockwork, update.zip, MotorolaConsumerDriver MotoConnect Installer, I've edited the PATH under my computer settings, I'm completely lost now. I just want to be able to run some themes! My initial goal was to deodex, and then it turned into this massive pile of ****.

I was thinking if I can get deodexed and clockwork mod recvoery working I probably will have solved any other problems in the process, and figure wireless tethering would prbably be included in that. Anyone have any idea AT ALL where I should go from here?

Motorola Droid :: ClockworkMod/ROM Manager - Backups Don't Work

Nov 6, 2010

I know similar topics regarding ClockworkMod/ROM Manager have been discussed, but I'm having a new issue and can't seem to find any info about it. Here's my issue: My backups don't work. When I try to flash one I'm being told there is an "MD5 mismatch." This happens when I try to restore any of my backups - including one I just made about an hour ago. I'm in the middle of flashing the newest Liquid Frozen Yogurt ROM and I goofed while restoring some things. I wanted to go back to v1.71 and start over, but I'm getting that error message. Perhaps not coincidentally, I have been unable to make any backups straight from ROM Manager. Nothing would happen. It isn't like the issues many of us have had in the past where it would appear to be booting into recovery and then just reboot. This time nothing happens at all. So my most recent backup was made by manually booting into recovery and going from there. I'm a little concerned. Any thoughts?

When I was having the issue using ROM Manager to make backups, I tried the old trick of flashing SPRecovery and then re-flashing ClockworkMod. Still didn't do anything.

Motorola Droid X :: Is Anyone Still Running 2.3.13?

Sep 25, 2010

Im still running this version of Froyo and Im loving it. Im deodexed with a little bit of build.prop I got from someone on an XDA thread.I compared my phone to a coworker who has OTA. He was all stock. No apps even. And my phone loaded sites and the Market 3x faster than his.ive been skeptic about p3s 2.3.15 and especially the OTA esp since it upgrades the bootloader. So does TBH 2.3.15 upg the bootloader too??im more than satisfied with my leak. however, if anyone can justify why i should head over to either versions of the 2.3.15 ill do it. but otherwise im sticking with what i got.

I just overclocked to 1.2 on cynagoen 5.062, I have overclock widget installed on my phone. Whenever I check it, the widget shows the phone is at 550, unless I manually move the slider to 1200. Does this mean my phone's not really running at 1.2, or am I misunderstanding how the overclock process works? Also, is there a way to do some sort of speed test? (I don't have set cpu and I can't buy apps at the moment) I do know when i move my slider to 1200 the web seems a lot faster, but whether thats real or placebo is beyond me.

My phone isn't jacked (yet) like most people have theirs. I do have the Motorola Droid. The only thing i've done to it was Trident's version of forcing the 1st and 2nd updates through the phone itself. So i do have the FRG22D build #. I've also changed the call quality setting. So there really isn't anything that would be taxing the OS of this phone.
