Motorola Droid :: Juice Defender Working With Rooted CDMA Again
Jun 4, 2010
Looks like Juice Defender is working w/rooted CDMA phones again, at least with CM 5.0.7.1...the install process is kind of cool, it does testing during the install to validate that it can work, and even automatically installed some sort of "helper" for the CM ROM I'm running. See thread here. Battery Saving Techniques - Theories in Test - CyanogenMod Forum And beta site for download here..JuiceDefender | Google Groups

Does that mean it's using 13% less battery that it would without juice defender? Is there a way to translate that into hours if that's the case? I started out w/ Juice defender being 1.52x after 5 hours of having it installed and now it's down to 1.13x. What exactly does that mean? Also today I was in an area that had wifi. I don't use wifi much, but when I turned my phone on wifi was already enabled. It must have been searching while the phone was off? Also I have beautiful wifi widget on my home screen. That's normally red because I don't use it much at all, however I noticed that it was green even when I wasn't near a place where I housewife. Is it constantly searching for wifi and won't that drain my battery faster? Is there a way to configure that?

I definitely would love to see some battery performance. But i see that juice defender shuts your service off every 5 minutes or some cycle that you can set to.. So during these shut offs. What happens if i get a text? or want to send a text? or if i get a call/want to send a call? Or if i want to surf the net? Does it some how register that I'm getting a call or text and automatically turn the service back on or what?

Just downloaded it to test it out & there seems to be loads of different settings on it that to be honest I don't understand. I've done the setup but is there anything I should be toggling with or just let it do it's stuff & see if it makes any difference?

I just wanted to run a quick vote among those that have tried juice defender. Did it improve battery for you, make it worse or have little to no affect? Personally, for a long time i believed it helped. I recently disabled it and went from 18 hours of use to 24, so thought id see what other people think.

Is anyone else here using the Juice Defender app? If not, I HIGHLY suggest that you download it immediately. There are two versions in the market. One is a beta and one is the regular or what they call the "stable" version. I am using the beta and it's working great!
I don't know the ins and outs of the program yet, but I just installed it and let the program set everything up for me. This morning I pulled my phone off the charger at 8:00 AM to leave for work like I always do, and as of typing this it's about 10:00 AM. My battery is still at 100% per Gauge Battery Widget. I have never stood at 100% after two hours until I installed this app. I will dig deeper into the app over the weekend, but the initial impression is that it really does help. If you get it, post your results here!

I've only owned an Android for 6 days (Samsung Galaxy S i9000) and one of the first things I installed was Juice Defender, having used iPod Touch extensively, I know how heavy on battery things like WiFi can be. Anyway, JD makes the phone really really leggy. It can take a minute sometimes (literally, 45-65 seconds) for the JD screen to come up when launched. Similarly when waking from sleep it takes ages for the data connections to become active again. Have I misconfigured JD? Is it really this slow and creates this much lag? Does it just not like the (fairly new) i9000? I've just uninstalled it there right now (left Ultimate Juice on) and the phone is much snappier. It's like using it for the first time. Which, considering JD was installed in the first half hour of my owning the phone, it kind of is. What I really wanted was the WiFi on/off according to cell tower location data so I can have it go on and off when I leave the house. Guess it's no real biggie. Having limited background data (e.g. the 2 mins per 15) is handy too. Are there any other apps which have JD functions - even if more limited in scope - that I can try?

Does anyone use this? if so, what are the best settings to have it set at to utilize it the best. seems like my battery dies so quickly.
I had an evo before i got the epic, and i also had an extended battery (3000) so maybe it's just coming from that to a stock battery, but i still can't help but to wonder if this phone just dies so much more quickly because of some other reason.

I'm a loyal Juice Defender user. That thing has saved me so much battery life. I do NOT use task killers - strictly Juice Defender - and I had fantastic battery life. Since installing 2.1, my battery life seems equally fine don't get me wrong, but I noticed something. with 1.6 I couldn't get above 1.9x improved battery life, which was plenty for me don't get me wrong. It was reading anywhere from 1.5x to 1.9x. But now, after only running 2.1 for a day, Juice Defender is showing a 2.2x battery life increase. That could mean one of two things. it's either saving me more battery life, OR it's having to deal with more crap to keep the same battery life as before. I'm not sure which it is. Either way I'm finding my battery life to be very good especially in idle mode. I used to lose quite a bit of battery life in idle and today was the first day I put it down at 100% and went back to it 30 minutes later and it was STILL at 100%. I sort of did a double-take. I don't think I've ever seen that happen.

Does anyone use Juice defender? I downloaded it the other day and first thought it was great, certainly improved my battery life, but after a while i noticed that i kept losing my data connection even with the screen switched on, and also as soon as i finish a phone call, i loose my data connection and it takes ages for it to reconnect! anyone else had experience of this, or does anyone know of a similar app i could try?

I'm currently using the free version of Juice Defender. I'm not sure if your phone should be set with mobile data switched on or off while using Juice Defender. Does JD turn data on and then off with the phone set to off to start with, or should the phone be set to data on, so that JD can manage data access according to the chosen schedule?

Now that we are on 2.1, Juice Defender works on our phones. I have been running it for a couple days, and I think it is helping. Still need to do some better calculations. Once loaded, I did shut off Power Manager, as I think they conflict on some of the settings. Anyhow, has anyone else loaded it on the official 2.1 release? What's your experience?

It remembers my home WiFi about 60% of the time, the rest I have to go enable again. That's annoying since I could just do that on my own without a paid app.I have tried to retrain it to my WiFi and it just never gets it completely right. I'm getting to the point of disabling that JD feature altogether which sucks because battery will suffer AND I paid for this app.

So, I've been using Juice Defender for a while. It's been working good. The issue I have is the timeout function shuts itself off all the time. I open Juice Defender, it's not enabled. i enable it, then 5 minutes later, it's off.
Around the same time, my battery life has been going down a bit. I rarely use a lot of data, so I'm not sure what's going on. All the other settings stay where I set them.

I'm not familiar at all with the differences in the networks in terms of CDMA, GSM, etc. I just read a news brief about the DROID possibly going to ATT at some point and the person writing it said something to the effect of "for those not wanting to be tied to the verizon's CDMA network." I thought verizon had the best network. I realize that in the past Verizon has crippled phones, but not sure if that has anything to do with what he was referring to, doesn't sound like he was talking about that.

I've recently rooted my droid and installed Bugless Beast 0.9 and Chevy1 OC'ing on it. Ever since then my browser will just decide to close and it takes me back to the home screen. I don't get a forced closed message it just takes me back to the home screen. I'm new to this rooting business so I'm not sure if there is something I am overlooking or what. I followed the instructions completed and wiped the phone before doing any of this.
