Motorola Droid :: Is The Droid Stock Android?

Jun 25, 2010

So "stock" Froyo 2.2 was released this week right after the Droid X announcement...

Is the Android OS on the original Motorola Droid stock OS? I know that Droid X is going to have Moto/Ninjablur, the Incredible has Sense UI etc. Could you consider the Droid OS "stock" or is only the Nexus One?

A friend keeps arguing that Droid's isn't since they haven't customized the kernel etc for the specific hardware.

Sep 21, 2010

I am sure there will be a ton of new post's once the OTA 2.2 actually releases so I want to get this out there now. If I download the OTA 2.2 and decide to root but something goes wrong I know I can flash the SBF to 2.1 but how would I get the OTA 2.2 back? Will the phone prompt me that an update is available when it is stock 2.1?

Is there anyway to change that? Also, the box around the image makes the image very small, anyway to get rid of that?

Motorola Droid :: Stock Kernel

Apr 11, 2010

Right now Im on stock 2.1 rooted. A few little issues I had with other ROMs and overclocking are totally gone which is great. I would like to try some different kernels, however, to see if it was the ROM or just the kernels I was using.

Anyways, how do I get back to the stock kernel if I change to a different one? If I have a recent nandroid, can I just restore one of the partitions? I would like to retain all of my data throughout the process so Id like to avoid doing a full nandroid restore if possible should I have problems and just restore the kernel.

Thanks

Motorola Droid :: Where To Get A Stock FROYO VZW Rom?

Aug 17, 2010

So long story short...and a lot of work later.

I rolled back to 2.01 sbf and got the update to 2.2 and it failed. I rolled back to ESE81 (2.1) sbf and got the update...and it failed. I ended up getting FRG22 off another forum and i am updated.

Now I want to find a FROYO SBF file so I can wipe and get a clean install of Froyo.

Do you think one will make it's way into the wild?

Motorola Droid :: Car Dock Out Of Stock / Where To Get It?

Motorola Droid :: Delete Stock Launcher Is Using Another

Aug 19, 2010

I've seen this type of comment a few times lately and it's got me wondering if I should take the time to delete the stock launcher. I'm using LauncherPro.

From Chevy:
"If you DO use another launcher, use my tools to DELETE the stock Launcher2 (it will back up to SD). Otherwise, it will still take resources even though you don't run it."

That being said, how do I delete the stock launcher on CM RC3? Root Explorer?

Motorola Droid :: Reverting Back To Stock

So I just purchased an incredible (couldn't resist lol).. And now I am trying to sell my droid on ebay (if anyone is interested let me know!), but whenever I used RomManager to revert back to stock image. I get an error and it fails. I have already ported my number over to my incredible, so I can only use wifi. So what other way is there to go back to stock so I can wipe the device and sell it. Or is there some other way that I am not thinking of? Something on the phone, like stock image I can flash through clockwork recovery and be done? (if so anyone have a link?)

Motorola Droid :: Unroot And Install Stock 2.2?

Nov 1, 2010

I have a Droid with CM6 currently. I am thinking of giving the phone to my wife and getting a Droid X (unless someone here knows of a better phone). If I do this, I think it would be best for her to have an unrooted Stock Droid. I did this before with a Droid I had to send in:
Unroot from Bugless .4 to Stock 2.1
But is there a 2.2 SBF to install? Or do I need to install 2.1 then wait for the update?

Motorola Droid :: Stock Rooted 2.2 Froyo

Aug 4, 2010

All files needed are available on my web site: Android - whiterabbit.org unless you still need to root your phone or downgrade to 2.0.1, the files needed for that will be linked to from those guides. The purpose of installing this way is to use the original OTA updates from Google, and only modify them enough to have root access. When you are done, you will have a system that is capable of installing the next OTA (gingerbread) when it arrives. Hopefully we will be able to patch it in the same way to keep root. This is only for people who don't want to run custom roms, but still want to have root.
