Does anyone else's droid heat up after a couple minutes of use?
View 4 Replies View RelatedEverytime I open up the yahoo messenger app it literally makes my DX burning hot drains the hell out of my battery, and it slows to a crawl. Shutting down the app only seems to help if it hasn't been open for very long and I normally have to do a complete phone restart to get it back to normal.

Initial tests show it works great..
My one gripe about the phone is solved.. all is well in the world again.
What is a good temp monitor app for the sholes ROM's? I read in the market that TempMonitor doesn't work with sholes. SetCPU shows it, but I'd love a widget or for it to show up in the notification bar.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI know there was a discussion of using a temp monitor app back when Taz had kernels that could access it, but now that BB 1.0 uses BeKit is there an app that can monitor cpu temp again?
I think setCPU monitors battery temp which I guess is ok, but it's not perfect. Is there another program that monitors battery temp (if CPU temp not available) without using setCPU?
I am pretty happy with the stock 2.1 OTA.. But I would like to overclock the phone, and use a temp monitor to keep it safe.
I have looked around in the "all things root" and most post seem to be about putting on a different ROM.
Is there an easy way to just get Root access, and then put on SetCPU..
I'm running BB1.1 at 1.2Ghz. Yes, my Droid gets hot, but it also got hot before I rooted. I work out of the office all day and rely on my Droid to stream Rhapsody, Air1 and DroidLive as well as some long phone calls. The heat generated has never caused a *problem*, but I sure don't want to create one either.
So, I'm wondering, how hot is too hot; and, what is the best way to keep an eye on it?
I have a Pioneer AVH-P3100DVD Car DVD Player with inputs for Auxiliary, TV, and an AV input (as seen here. I'm wondering if there is anyway for me to use one of these inputs to export the screen from my Droid to it. The dvd player is touchscreen, but I don't presume I'll be able to actually control my DX with it, but it would be nice if I could show the navigation on it since it is a 7 inch screen.I also currently have my phone setup with the Motorola car mount and it records video everytime I dock it.So it would be nice if that display would show up on my radio monitor in addition to being on the phone. Or maybe be able to play movies and video clips from my phone on the monitor. Before I invest in cables and trying to take out my radio and plug anything in back there, does anyone know if this is feasible? I've tried to plug it just straight into the auxiliary jack on the front of my stereo but that didn't do anything.I assume it will need to plug into the AV or TV input connections if it does indeed work.

I am on my second droid due to various reasons... but i can't remember on my last one being able to see lines on the bottom of the screen where the backlight shines threw..... is this normal?
also in this image below note where the shadow from the home++ icons end is the end of the display.. a thin line of black, then backight!
should i return this one too? is yours like this?
edit: This is looking down on the screen......
I got sholes from the market last night and i absolutely LOVE it. I just have a few questions about my OC profile and a temp monitor
Right now my profile is set to
Charging:
Max 1
min 250
Sleep/Standby:
Max 550
Min 125
Power <100%
Max 800
Min 250
Failsafe
Max 550
Min 125
Do those look ok? Also what program works with Sholes to monitor battery and CPU temps?
Does anyone have any idea how Tango works internally, from the Logcat I came to know that it used xmpp jingle as the protocol, however when I sniffed the data using wireshark I found that the entire data was going over SSL, was wondering if anyone knows anything about this piece of work.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs is bad practice to pass the Context to a constructor and save it as a private variable for internal use? The other option is to pass the Context as a parameter to methods that need it.
Which is the better option?
I have a feeling that passing to the constructor might result in memory leaks accidentally.
I've been reading up on some threads about other phones and how their screens crack internally when put in some jean pockets that are a little tight. I've had my phones and my old iPhone in some tighter jeans and haven't seen that problem. I hear it's a something serious with the Nexus One so I wanted to see if anyone here experienced that?
View 12 Replies View RelatedIf it does that might explain why battery has dramatically improved since i stopped using case 3 weeks ago.Its either that or I finished Angry Birds. Just thought I'd throw the proverbial cat amongst the pigeons.seriously - battery life much improved. Coincidence?

i got the htc inspire running Absolution 3.7. is there a way to cool down the heating generated on the phone when making calls?

Next time your screen starts acting crazy, immediately put the phone in the refrigerator WITHOUT turning off the screen or resetting. Also notice the temp of the phone when you do this.Wait 3-5 minutes.Remove phone, and try typing something again Problem solved! (at least for me), until the phone gets warm again. I just re-created this 10 times in a row. This would explain why the problem really flares up when plugged into a charger/dock, or when using the phone for a while. Seems the heat from the phone is screwing with the touchscreen.Try this experiment and post the results!
I was able to access recovery mode on my bricked phone in a way that all of you may think is stupid.I have a Bell Canada Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant. My phone somehow bricked it self a few days ago. I wasnt able to get into recovery mode at all, no matter what I tried, how many times, and I tried every single method with no success.People on XDA Forums were mentioning about heat somehow allowing you to access the recovery mode. Some said putting it facedown in the sun for a few minutes, some said plugging it in for 15-20 min, some said playing games on the phone to heat it will would also allow them to access the un-accessible recovery mode on their phone.I tried all of them. I put my phone in the oven for 5 minutes, twice, last night, did not work. Ok I thoght to myself. Maybe I need more heat. To get it hot to the touch. So I tried once again today, and what a shock, I was able to get in recovery mode via the 3 button - WITH BATTERY OUT, HOLD VOL UP + HOME BUTTON + POWER BUTTON, then insert battery, and let go of the power button once your phone turns on.Took 3 seconds to set everything to restore, in the recovery mode.It worked for me. If you are going to try this, maybe try with a hair blow dryer first.dont have one of those, so I couldnt, to be safer.I will not be held accountable for any damage you do if you leave it in too long or damage your phone in any way. This worked for me. Im happy I got it working. The only thing which worries me now What if heat or cold can cause your phone to brick itself? phone bricked itself out of nowhere, no idea how.

was on a call and it dropped (cut off) 3 times in 10 mins and the ear felt a slight piercing pain and the phone is getting warm. Is not a good sign.
I consider that my "About Phone ->battery Use" is not really accurate in my case. Can you advice me regarding another android battery usage monitor application ? I am interested in seeing the exact consumption (in percentage) of each service/application.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to make sure I'm not crazy. I have been sitting here at work trying to find an alternative to the photo software that comes on the Eris. I have never been happy with the stock camera app and the pictures it takes. I downloaded an app called Camera 360 from the market. I've been taking several pictures and comparing them side by side. To me, Camera 360 looks like it takes much better pictures. I have emailed myself 3 or 4 pictures so I can compare them on the PC. The stock camera seems to be very blurry when blown up onto a computer monitor. The Camera 360 pictures seem to be clearer and sharper. Granted I'm sitting here at my desk taking pictures of the wall and my feet, so it's possible the Camera 360 software will stink outside.
View 49 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to monitor the performance of a thread on Android phone.
As in any POSIX library?
I want to find the time taken by a "thread" during execution, while many other applications might also be running.
I work on PCs, desktops, quite often and I don't ask for the monitor. Usually I have to come up with 1 of my monitors drag it out and plug it in in order to simply see the screen.
is there a way for me to run an application on my droid and have it appear to the PC as a monitor that it sees on a USB port?
To be clear, I'm not looking for VNC, RDP, or anything wireless, etcetera. What I am looking for is for my galaxy s3 to appear to the PC as a valid primary monitor for it to boot to. This allows me to see post and the operating system without having to use a large monitor.
in fact, I don't really even care if the phone acts as a touch screen. I can use the mouse or even the keyboard plugged into it I just need the droid to act as a monitor. If, on the other hand, the touch screen was seen as a viable input device, emulating a mouse, then that would just be a bonus.
I started developing this yesterday, and wanted to get thoughts. My goal is a notification driven warning service. It's not going to "fix" the issues, but will at least monitor some key things.
I'm just trying to take all these forum posts where users don't understand what is causing a battery drain.
I don't want to make this app to complicated, but want it to be useful to auto catch issues before the phone dies.
In my system, there has a WebView component, and i want to monitor all traffics when WebView open some URL. I know how to monitor whole phone's traffic, there has an example about how to monitor whole phone's traffic:
http://code.google.com/p/android-labs/source/browse/svn/trunk/NetMeter
But I have no any idea on how to monitor only my own app, how can i do?
Is there an app that monitors what's using the Internet? I have switched everything that uses it but 3g watchdog still registers some activity. I have very little data per month and I want to use it efficiently. I even got task killer but no luck. should I remove my email settings? I have switched off sync and even updates
