Motorola Droid :: Alarm Wake To A Playlist?
Nov 11, 2009
Anyone have any ideas how to get the alarm to wake to a playlist? Would be nice to wake to music rather then some nasty noise. And since the thing is loaded with my songs would be nice for it to just pick one of my songs randomly.

I upgrade from a blackberry storm to the eris and I'm looking for an alarm app that could turn the phone on when its time to get up. My blackberry had the capability of being turned off but would turn back on when the alarm went off. Does the eris have this capability or is there an app out there for this.

I know I'm comparing phones that are different, but the Blackberry has the option to turn off the phone, and 'wake up' right before the alarm goes off. This helps save battery life and keep from waking you up in case you get an email or text in the middle of the night. Is there any way the Eris has something comparable? I know there is an airplane mode - what is this? Any chance that's what I'm looking for?

I tried several alarm clocks on my droid, and they all seem to have a problem. if I set alarms for 6:30, 6:41, and 6:52 am. Each with a different sound. If i snooze alarm 1, alarm 2/3 never goes off. i thought all 3 would be seperate, but it seems only 1 can be active at a time. unless im doing something wrong. this happens on the default alarm clock and, better alarm clock.

I am using the factory Alarm Clock on my Inc. It works okay but if my phone is off, the alarm will not wake up the phone and sound alarm or at least the alarm going off would work for me.
On my BB Curve even if the phone was off the alarm would go off at the set time and the phone would turn on. Kinda nice, only downfall is only had 1 alarm where as Inc has a few.
With the marginal battery life on this thing I sometimes turn it off to charge when going to sleep at nite and do a few bumps in the morning. Problem is the alarm doesnt go off if the phone is off.
IF the factory phone alarm does not do this does anyone know of one that does? Perhaps in Market?

I have a question about alarms used with services with regards to wake locks. The documentation explains the behavior using BroadcastReceivers, a wakelock is held during onReceive(), but doesn't describe the behavior for alarms starting services with the RTC_WAKEUP flag. What is the behavior in this case?
I have an app implementing this, an alarm is created with the RTC_WAKEUP flag that starts a service. The service onCreate() then starts a thread to do some network activity. It seems to work just fine but I just want to make sure that I don't need to explicity hold a wakelock myself.

I'm having a couple of problems with an alarm app I am developing.
The first thing that I think is a bit weird is that when an alarm goes of and wakes the phone up. These things happend.
oncreate
onresume
onpause
onresume
Why are they run in that order? The last two should not be called? And this is what's causes me big trouble, because when i press home or back on the phone, onPause is run, which I want to call finish() from. And that part works as it should, but that does not work when the phone wakes upp from sleep bacause of the onPause call...

last night I got tired of waiting for the 2.2 update so I installed unrevoked forever, 2.15 radio and the third wave rom from adrenyline. After all that went smoothly I decided to throw the standard clock undervolt hydra kernel in there too. After I did that I got sporadic reboots and the screen became very unresponsive. Also it seems to cause the phone to freeze whenever it has to wake up to play a notification sound or alarm...
Now I have to say that I had the same problem about a month ago when I tried one of the older Hydra Kernels, but I figured it would be fixed with the newer ones. My question is it seems that I am the only one with problems, all the posts I read about these things are positive with little or no issues. Am I installing it incorrectly somehow? Is anyone else having issues too?

This can't be as difficult as it seems. Just to make sure the SD card is clean I formatted it, then mounted the SD card and using doubleTwist did the following:
- Brought my iTunes playlists into doubleTwist
- Selected the one I wanted on the Droid (named "Mobile Phone")
- Drug it to the connected Droid and the songs start transferring just fine (there's only about 300 in this playlist).
- Transfer gets about 70% completed and just hangs up. DoubleTwist at this point is hung up so can't unmount the SD card. Unplug the USB cable
- Now when I go to the SD card it says "SD card is busy" but of course nothing is happening.
- At this point I have to do a battery pull to gain access to the SD card in order to format it again.

Does anyone know how to save a playlist from one rom and import it to another using the music app musicmod? I made some playlists while using BBv0.4 in Musicmod. I am now running CM6 but cannot figure out how to import my playlists from BB. I did save them but they do not seem to save to the SD card, or if they do I don't know where they save to. And I can't find an import option in musicmod anyway. Does anyone have an idea of how I could import my playlists to a new rom? It took a really long time to make them, I can't do that every time I flash a new rom.

Has anyone else made a playlist within the music player? Whenever I try to remove a song using "Remove from Playlist", it will remove it from the list until I reboot the phone. Which will then reappear in the list.

I'm sorry for cross-posting but people don't check the support forums when trying to decide whether to get their phone. I would have thought twice...

I'm wondering how I can choose to wake up my phone without having to do the slider everytime or at all.I work at my home office 12 hours a day and my phone is on my desk always.I use it alot and put it down, then use it some more and back down again.I'd like to conserve battery and not set it to just "screen stay" aka never timeout because that just uses so much battery with the screen on.And using that slider over and over and over well you get the point. So how can I just set it to wake up on like touching the screen or something?

On my last full discharge, I looked at the Spare Parts app battery history, and took a look at partial wake usage since I've read thats where you can see what apps are really draining your battery. What i saw that above everything was UID 10074, then android system, and then usual stuff. What is UID 10074? I google and searched, but the one time it was mentioned someone said they didn't know. It said something like over 3hours usage for partial wake for UID 10074. My battery life isn't terrible, but this thing seems like its hogging resources?

One thing i envy on the iPhone is that it has a real button for 'Home' so you can wake the phone up from sleep by pressing it. Its 10000% more convenient than going up top to the lock/sleep button (especially on the droid which feels kinda awkward to get to) So my question is, are there any apps out there, or any settings, that will make it so i can wake up my phone by pressing either the volume rocker or the camera button or maybe something that keeps the home key awake?

This has almost become a gag, if I hit the lock button or allow the screen to timeout while inside of a text message, when I awaken the screen for whatever reason and I do not immediately hit the home button the messaging app freezes and then force closes. This happens if I try to respond or go back to the msg list. Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

There are a bunch of threads out there talking about battery usage and how to figure out what's draining your battery.
Almost all of them say to go get Spare Parts app from the market and check you "partial wake usage".
I did that and 95% of my partial wake usage is from "Android System".
Is that normal? Anyone who is getting good battery life (20+ hours) - what do you see in the partial wake usage?
I just checked my phone:
13h 10m 23s since unplugged
Partial Wakelock:Android System Total time: 13h 1m 44s
Is this normal?
The only widgets I have are:
Stock power control widget
Ringer Toggle Widget
I am running GDE in the background (not my default home screen).

My screen turns black when i wake up my phone. frequent reboots, that it does on it's on, not to mention the lines showing up across my screen. this phone has never been dropped and has a screen protector and case on it. looks like i'll be calling verizon for a replacement - totally unacceptable, but understandable considering it's a new phone.. and it seems these days things are being rushed out the door.

So I never used the alarm before (in 2.1 or 2.2) I was using the stock alarm clock in 2.2 for the first time this morning. But when the alarm went off, there was no sound, only vibration (fortunately the sound of the vibration on the table was enough to wake me up!). The first issue is that there was no ringtone sound even though the volume was on and a ringtone was set. Then next issue is that when I went to slide the slider to dismiss the alarm, it didn't do anything. The phone kept vibrating madly and the phone was fully functional. When I went to open the alarm panel again (through the app drawer, cause it was no longer a status icon), it said the alarm was off, even though the phone kept vibrating. The only way I could get the darn thing to stop vibrating was to turn the phone completely off then back on.

I first tested the alarm out and set it to go off in 2 minutes. it worked. so I set it for my morning alarm and to play an mp3. it said that it will go off in 6 hours. morning rolls by and it never goes off. i check it and its still set, but never went off. another problem that happened was my music player would not work after this incident. i would click load play list and it would take my to a blank screen. the previous song wouldn't play either. i had to reset my device to fix it.

I know that a lot of you have been having issues with this app. I thought that I'd try to make some suggestions that could or could not solve things.
- Make sure that you press the "Turn on alarm" check box at the very top of an alarm. I've missed it once before (my first time) and thought it was on because I pressed "Done" and even though it said that it was set for "6 hours and 53 minutes from now", it wasn't activated.
- Turn on "Vibrate" and have it rest on a wooden surface, like a night stand for example.
- Have "Repeat" set to the day that you want it on, even if its just for that day. This has helped some people.
- Have the "Backup alarm" on just in case.
- Have the volume turned all the way up. This definitely wakes me up every time because it can get really loud, especially when you're sleepy.
- Instead of playing one of the stock alarm ringtones, play an MP3 file. Play a song that can get loud, but I recommend to turn on "Volume" (which increases the volume gradually) so it doesn't startle you.
- Make sure that the speaker on the back isn't at risk of any muffling by fabric.
- Turn your phone over on its front to completely expose the speaker.
Go ahead and try a test alarm with all of these in mind (like set it to go off in 2 minutes) and see how it works out. I've made my mistakes by accidentally leaving it on a T-shirt (which definitely muffled the sound), forgetting to turn up the volume loud enough, and by forgetting to actually press "Turn on alarm" (as previously stated). If any of those suggestions do not work out for you, then you're on your own with a 3rd party app.

I don't know if anyone else is having these problems with the Droid Unrooted on stock 2.1-update1 (ESE81), but my alarm clock never goes off in the morning at 6:00 AM like I need it to. I don't want to purchase a travel clock. No sounds are off, both Wifi and Cellular Networks are enabled, but it will go off occasionally. (Usually if I set it to go off in the next minute.) Could it be my task manager?
I use the alarm mainly for traveling, I have a dedicated alarm clock that I could use at home, but I would prefer not to.

Had a problem with my alarm clock this morning. It went off @ one of the alarm times I have (although I could swear it wasn't checked to be on for today). But then I could not shut it off. Tried hitting nearly ever button both physical and virtual and the damned alarm wouldn't stop. I eventually just shut it off and turned it back on and that did the trick. Did I miss a step in how to turn alarm off?
