Media : Can I Access BBC IPlayer On Phone?
Nov 2, 2010
On this forum:- BBC iPlayer - Help - Can I access BBC iPlayer on my mobile phone? It says that I can listen to BBC radio, at least in catch-up mode, on my HTC Desire now that it is on Android 2.2. I connect via my home wifi and can get to the Radio 3 website but cannot find anyway to get to listen to catch-up. On my pc there is a link "7 days left to listen" for this afternoons programmes, on the Radio 3 schedule page. There is no such link on my Desire.

I'm in the UK, and when I try to play the BBC iPlayer, I get this message:
Shockwave flash. This type of flash content is not supported
Is there anything I can do to get the iPlayer working?

I want to upload my music library or access the files directly from the computer from anywhere, including my phone for free. I have done some searching around and have only found Posner.com, but it doesn't let you play an entire playlist from your phone, only a single song at a time. Anybody have any ideas? Also, I hear people talking about gmote when I look around, but isn't that a remote control? Not a way to play the music on the phone, please someone correct me if I'm wrong.

BBC iPlayer switches my tablet off if I try to resume playing a downloaded programme after I've switched tablet off. I emailed iplayer support who claimed they had not come across this problem. I think it might have been since 4.4.2 was installed.

From what I've been able to find, Android apps are sandboxed, and can only list, read, and write files within the application's data directory (e.g. /data/data/<pkgname>). but, what about an application that allows users to view photos on an SD card (or play music, etc)? Surely this must be possible. Does one have to write a Service Provider for this?

Almost a year ago I purchased the HT820 Motorolla headset so I could pair a bluetooth phone and mp3 player to the same headset. It worked fantastic. Now that I finally have my hands on the Google phone, I was hoping to dual pair the headset to the phone for both media and the phone.
I don't know if I am doing something wrong during the pairing procedure, but it will not play media through the headset, except in the second before dialing a contact or just after I hang up. Whatever music is playing, comes out of the speakers, but like I said if a call comes in, I hear the music through the headset until I answer, and then it pauses like it should, then plays again after I hang up but it switches back to the external speaker almost immediately.
It works fine for the phone, and in the Bluetooth list of devices, it shows as connected.

Bought a shiny new Android phone (HTC Desire) today, everything going ticketyboo up to now and only a few small questions:
1) How do you know when your not using the internet? It's not a problem at home connected to wi-fi, but going to take phone to work tomorrow and not sure if normal internet will continue running in the background?
2) Is it correct that BBC iPlayer etc are not yet compatible with Android phones? Tried to get tvcatchup, but appears it's only available for iPhones?

Just got my Droid 2.
Trying to access shared folders on my home network (3 computers running XP) via the Media Share.
Set up the files for sharing on the computers.
On my Droid clicked on "Media Share" -> "Start" -> "Computer" -> "Copy" -> "Windows File Sharing" -> "Next" -> Shared 3 folders on my computer. -> "Next" -> Verified my home network was availabe, clicked "Next" -> clicked "Next" -> "Shared Folders" -> "Add Server" -> "Scan for Servers" ->
At this point it finds the IP address of the laptop Im working on. using DHCP. But when I click on it, it keeps asking for a user name and password. dont have one for XP and no password on the files.

I'm coding an app that works with the current status of the Android Media Player, basically, I'm trying to find a way to obtain, for example, the current track information or the track next on the library/playlist. Thing is, I couldn't find any way to "connect" to the app, I read about some services and copying an Android MP file to my project and so on, but I just wanted to check if there's another way such as a content provider.

I've checked multiple threads, and gotten some answers, but some had some technical stuff that I just didn't understand. I just want to know how I can take movies I own on DVD and put them on my Evo so I can watch them whenever I want to, and doing it for free would be the ultimate answer! I don't know about resolutions and mb vs kb and all that stuff. (I'm only a wannabe geek)

I'm not sure if this is the right spot for this question but here it goes. Say I want to take a picture with my phone (Samsung Galaxy S) and then post it on a message board, say here. What is the easiest way to do this? I've tried uploading it to my Picasa account but then when I view it, I can't seem to find the .jpg url address. I don't want to have to use a message board's "attach" feature. I just want to post it directly from Picasa (or wherever).

I have a problem using adb shell on my Google IO phone. I get shell access, I can type cd /data/data, but then when I type "ls" it says "opendir failed, Permission denied". Same when I type "sqlite3". I didn't think I'd need to root my phone, but what setting did I miss to get access to data on the phone?

I am just digging into Android, and want to build a simple application that gets data from wifi/3g from a website, like a classic RSS feed, and/or a post-back to a remote database. A tutorial that does a good job explaining it to a "busy developer". Can anyone reference a good tutorial site, or a book that covers this topic well ?
