View 6 RepliesI must confirm that Universal Androot 1.6.2 worked on my LG Ally as a one click root/unroot program. Here is a link. No need for a computer.Software2Tech.com Android Root Apps: Updated Universal Androot (1.6.2) Beta Released and Available for Download.

View 3 Replies View RelatedHow to: Root the DROID X Using Universal Androot
Universal Androot is one of the newer 1-click methods to rooting a whole lineup of devices and one of them happens to be the Droid X. We had been holding out a little on posting this until there were methods available for creating backups using something like Clockwork Recovery and since Koush just released that option, it was time.
*Note 1* This needs to be done before updating to android 2.2. This method does not currently work on droid x froyo. Instructions *Warning*. Just a reminder that rooting VOIDS your warranty and could potentially do permanent damage to your device. This is not a recommended practice and you do so at your own risk.
1. Download and install Universal Androot to your Droid X: Download Link
2. Open it and tap the Root button.
3. Your phone will now run through a series of commands.
4. When it finishes, it will tell you that you are rooted.
5. Reboot your phone and BAM!Rooted Droid X.
I just root my DX with universal androot is so easy just one click but my ? Is how can I install ROM or used ROM Manager.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI understand the whole rooting thing, but i can not find an app that will do my phone. I have the Motorola Droid (original) with the 2.2 update that just come out a couple months ago. I tried the Universal Androot and it said "failed" when I tried to root the phone with it. Then I heard about Easy Root in the market, but searched the market and its not there. Also wanting to do the nandroid backup so I can reinstall my current settings just in case and can not find anything to do that either.....
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhat exactly happens when I root with universal androot? I don't think I'm going to need any ROM's would just be nice to get some of the root exclusive apps. If I don't add any ROM's or anything it isn't risky or anything right.
View 6 Replies View RelatedIt isn't in the market. Is there anyway I can still get it?
(I hope this is in the right forum)
Any suggestions? Can't connect to market / How to fix?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have rooted the phone and did not have a problem with installing apps. I deleted myspace and talk. a few days later when i download an app its stuck at starting download it just hangs there. Of course I though I backed up before I deleted anything and didn't. So I though a hard reset would fixed but didn't and removed all the apps I had installed.
View 12 Replies View RelatedFor some reason after I flash a rom and apply a theme after so long I can't download apps from the market, and I can't find any reason why that is.. also I deleted all the cache I could from all my apps
View 11 Replies View RelatedMost of you got a silent upgrade to a new version of the android market a few weeks back. But this was released after velocity .3 (and I think raptor .1) came out so if you re-flash back to those you'll be without. When I re-flashed to velocity .3 my phone never got the silent upgrade, or at least not for a few days. I struggled for awhile to install the .apk manually so I figured I would write up how I did it.

There seem to be a few distinct ways to go about doing this. I've summarized them here:
Using terminal -
Note: My phone has issues mounting the file system from adb so I used a combination of adb and terminal. The terminal instructions are copied from Savox website and will create a backup of the old Vending.apk in /sdcard/archive. Android Ally
- Download the Vending.apk file here: MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service
- Copy the New Vending.apk to a location on your sd card (I put it in the root section of the SD card because its less typing). I renamed it to Vending.apk, but you can name it whatever you would like.
From terminal:
- su
- mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
- mkdir /sdcard/archive
- cp /system/app/Vending.apk /sdcard/archive
- rm /system/app/Vending.apk
From ADB (I'm pretty certain you absolutely have to do this step):
- adb uninstall com.android.vending
From terminal:
- busybox install /sdcard/Vending.apk /system/app
Using Astro -
- Install ASTRO File Manager - ASTRO File Manager - Android app on AppBrain
- Open Astro and navigate to the Vending.apk app, select it.
- Select "Upgrade"
- Done
Using tAttachApkInstaller -
- Install tAttachApkInstaller - tAttachApkInstaller - Android app on AppBrain
- Download the apk to your computer and email it to yourself
- Open the email on your phone, and hit preview this should start tAttachApkInstaller
- Done
this isnt the same as all the others, i rooted my phone and was able to download apps for a few minutes, after that all my apps would sit at "starting Download" i would wait hours for it to work but nothing ever changed. i paniked and reset factory settings on my phone so i only have stock apps and SU, the catch is it wont let me delete SU so my warrantee is void. also when i try to reboot recovery it looks like it will then goes black and starts normally. is there a way to remove SU or reboot recovery another way? i would be fine if the market started working again please help.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been on the fence forever with rooting my x. Been lurking your forum for awhile now among others. reading up. Just scared i'll mess my phone up and have to buy another. I'm sure you deal with people like me daily. Anyways, I'm going to wait for the official 2.2 to come out, then worry about rooting. My question is, If I would use androot and koush's backup, and only used trustworthy roms that people post on forums like this, with positive feedback. do i really have to worry about bricking my phone?

Yesterday, I found a cool little device that doesn't require you to have an iPhone to be able to send infrared commands to pretty much anything. It connects to your home network either via wifi or ethernet and can control 3 IR emitters or 3 IR blasters or any combination of 3 of those. If I write an app for this thing, would anybody actually be interested?

I want to cut out the two-step approach, and get a direct shortcut.

My LG Ally is stuck at the "VELOCITY" boot screen and is stuck in a loop. I had Velocity 0.3 flashed yesterday and I decided to re-flash today. I have tried wiping data/files/cache/dalvik cache. I'm stuck and I don't know what to do. Also I never did a Nandroid backup (because I'm slow).

I've already flashed the prl and have the phone programmed on cricket but it seems like the data settings are locked. Im trying to change them to fully flash the lg ally and I also need to figure out how to change the mms settings.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI figured out how to full flash the LG Ally 740 to cricket but 3 out of every 5 phones I flash do not save the NV settings. When I go to manual programming (##program740 send) then select DATA. The MIP & DUN MIP settings always revert back to the default 0000000000@vzw3g.com settings. I've changed them in LGNPST,CDMA Workshop & QPST but still reverts back to VZW. It's rooted and tried several different ROM's to fix the problem. Could it be the kernel? If anyone can help, please let me know.
