LG Ally : How Do I Restore My Aly To Factory After Playing With Root
Oct 6, 2010
Decided to get brave and try the whole Root thing to get rid of some of the bloatware on my Ally. I used Universal Androot to root my phone, Titanium Backup with the Batch "Backup all user apps + System data", ROM Manager to back up the ROM, and Root Explorer to change permissions so I could delete the bloatware apps. (Well, the ones I could figure out - still have a shortcut for Corporate Calendarand Socialite.)
OK - fine so far. However, when I tried to restore, the apps I deleted are still gone. I tried using the Factory Reset option in Settings - nice and clean but the same apps are missing. By this time, I've figured out I misunderstood something somewhere. The question is - can it be fixed?

I can't seem to find the setting. I swear I've seen it before. I did start the update, but canceled it as soon as I saw it was downloading.would that be why I don't see the setting? I wanted to see if I the update was available a few days ago. I didn't know it would just start downloading it. I want to do factory restore before I do update because I'm rooted and done the lag fix.

I downloaded TB and backed up a few apps I plan to un install eventually. Before I did it though, I wanted to make sure I understood how to restore something in case I have problems. So I went to the TB folder on my SD Card and found where the backups were, but they are not saved as .apk files so how do you restore e-install them? I open the TB app and clicked on the backup e store button, but didn't see anything about restoring. All I see is buttons for backup, freeze and un install. Am I missing something obvious?

I downloaded a theme from the market and when I switched scenes back to HTC then back to the one I downloaded, a new wallpaper showed up, which I really like. I didn't like the theme (I think it was causing problems on my phone) so I uninstalled it, but the wallpaper remained (bonus). I have used it on my phone ever since, and now I want to restore my phone to factory default and redo everything in the hopes it will restore the speed my phone once had. I would really like to save the wallpaper but I can't find it anywhere on my phone. I have searched for hours trying to find where it could be or if I could even somehow grab the file being downloaded from the market and extract the wallpaper there. Does anyone know where to find the current home screen wallpaper. I've read that it was in the data directory, but that can only be accessed if you root your phone (i think) which I really don't want to do. I'm just trying to find some way that I can have the wallpaper saved and I can put it back on my phone without having to install the theme (which may or may not have caused the problems on my phone).

I am looking to completely restore my phone back to the way it was when I purchased it, though I am not quite certain of how to do it (and to load up a new Rom following that).
I have a Samsung Galaxy Note II, running Cyanogenmod in an early version of Kit Kat (4.4).
My internal SD card is a little odd as in that it has an emulated SD partition inside of it (though I'm not totally sure if it's inner workings). This happened after I first installed Cyanogenmod. What do I need to have ready before the reset? (I want to install the carbon Rom on my phone).

I got the velocity rom running and its great but i miss some of the old LG apps, like the digital alarm clock and the rings that came with it. I tried the appbrain app and i get errors or freezes when i try to look at the LG apps, so what do i do? Can someone give me a hint or a thread i can read?

I just did a factory restore on my Vibrant and afterwards, I noticed that there are folders of apps I used to have before the factory restore. Some folders are...EpicFail, FridayEscape, etc. I thought by doing a factory restore that all data were wiped oud. I would like a clean wipe of the hard drive and reload of the factory stuff. No rooting.

It seems a lot of us are having issues after upping to 2.2. Someone suggested hard reset. My question is simple, will hard reset "restore" EVO back to factory settings, AKA 2.1? I mean when you bought the phone, 2.1 is "baked" in the internal memory. When you update to 2.2, will 2.2 also be "baked" in internal memory so that whenever you hard reset you will always go to 2.2 status? I think it is, but please clarify?

So I took my inc to best buy for a warranty replacement where I was promptly told I would not be seeing my replacement for at least 2 weeks. Seeing as how I am in the middle of a big move / would like to use the nav for the drive, I want to put this off. So I'm going to try a factory restore and I'm praying it will resolve/help my phantom left swipe issue. Has anyone done this/have any tips for prepping? As far as I know my photos/music will be untouched.
I'm assuming everything on my sd card will be untouched?
Will this include my snes Roms/save states?
Should I remove my SD card during the restore? I only ask because I believe the restore deletes all apps aren't some stored on the sd card? Am I going to have to manually "re-link" all of my contacts

I have a Samsung galaxy S3 which is about a year old. About 2 days go i tried updating my software to Kit.Kat. It said update is complete but it just needs to reboot so i said yes. Now when i switch my phone on it turns on and when it gets to the Samsung logo it just flashes and stays on the Samsung logo. I have tried connecting my phone to kies but i have had a problem with my phone connecting to the computer. I also don't want to restore to factory default because i don't want to loose all my photos.

Galaxy s2 sgh t989 rooted followed all steps.I ran hc-ktool to backup efs.img and efs.tar.gz. I have not flashed any ROM for fear of turning my s2 into a paper weight. I downloaded root browser from play store to try and look deeper. That is when i noticed my efs folder was empty. I have been scouring my files but feel like a blind man looking for a needle in a haystack.
i still have a good imei and broadband version...everything seems okay. I am reluctant to do anything for fear of bricking. I no longer have lockscreen or power off menu either. Can i reset the phone to factory default and restore my efs? If so, do i have to unroot my phone?

I am using Samsung i699 (android 2.3.6) in China, They preinstalled so many suck apps. After I rooted and removed a bunch of apps including system files, and then every time when I power on, it displays "Low Storage Space there is not enough storage space available to complete this action, clear some space and try again" Before remove some system files such as applications provider, kies, kies wifi and etc... it never had any problems. So here I have a question:
I want to restore factory default. When I press "restore factory default", it just restores my settings, or restores all the apps and systems files I deleted?

I want 2.2 but I removed some stock bloatware apps and my froyo OTAs always fail. Can I get the stock bloat apps back by simply doing a revert to factory settings?
I'm worried that a factory reset won't revert them because I theoretically shouldn't have been able to ever remove "system" apps in the first place. I'd like to hope/think that the developers would have this feature as part of a reset but who knows.

So I attempted to hack my droid to wifi tether but I ended up getting stuck at one step. I decided to give up so I want to restore my droid to factory settings, but when I rebooted my phone into recovery mode and factory reset, there is a superuser app in the app menu. I think it's factory restoring to a custom image. Is there a way to restore it the way I got it when I walked out of the Verizon store?

Just wondering if doing a factory reset, or any other kind of reset, restores the original CSC. I removed it when I used Odin to update the phone a few months ago. I know I can use Odin again if I want to restore the CSC, I'm just not sure which CSC I need- does it have to match the firmware version, or is the CSC for a given carrier the same regardless of the firmware?

Ok so I rooted my captivate. I then used the titanium backup thing to get rid of all the at&t bloat ware. I didn't back them up either (I know I'm an idiot) well now I need somethings back, like voice recorder. But I can't seem to figure out how to do that. I can format the phone clear all the stuff but nothing brings it back. How do I restore this thing to factory defaults with everything installed????? I'm also getting tons of error messages now too...

I did it last night, seemed to work fine, but I noticed something today. Under settings, applications, USB settings, there is an option for PC Internet that wasnt there originally. When I try to go to software update, it says Communication Failed. Unable to connect to ATT servers.
Coincidence that this started now, or is there something wrong? I reset the phone twice, and reloaded Odin twice. Everything else seems to work fine.
