KitKat 4.4 :: Restricted Profile Forgets Picture?

Apr 21, 2014

I've set up restricted profiles for my children and taken photos for them. But after a short period of time the os forgets the image and goes back to the default icon.

This has happened with the image on both sd and internal memory.

This is an LG g pad running 4.4.2

KitKat 4.4 :: Google Play Movies With Restricted Profiles?

Mar 20, 2014

So I upgraded my daughter's Nexus 7 to 4.4.2, and set up a restricted profile for her. I cannot figure out how to watch purchased Play Movies & TV. Her account has permission for it under settings, and I can browse for the purchased movies in the app, but they are all non-purchased. Her profile is still showing as tied to my Google account, so purchases should carry over, but alas, no such luck. they don't seem to HAVE a support department. Guess you can't expect that from such a small company...

HTC Incredible :: Profile Picture Changes From Google To Facebook

Jun 28, 2010

I use Google contacts as my only/primary contacts on my HTC Droid Incredible. However, I also linked several of my contacts to their facebook profiles. When I created these links, the profile picture (in the phone) changed to their facebook photo. I knew how to change it back to the photo in Google, and did so for each contact. However, every time my facebook friends post anything, the profile picture in my phone changes back to the facebook photo. Is there any way to stop this annoying behavior?

Samsung Galaxy S :: How To Display Facebook Profile Picture On A Phone Contact?

Aug 9, 2010

I'm trying to get Facebook profile pictures assigned to internal phone contacts, but cant get it to work. I installed the recently updated Facebook app, at the first launch it asked me if I want to sync my contacts, I selected Sync with exisiting contacts (later I selected Sync all since first option didnt work) but still profile pictures are not being fetched. I can now see facebook contacts in my main contact list, and I can link them with my phone contacts (manually), but profile picture is still blank. When I click the View profile (facebook) link of a particular contact I'm taken to my profile page instead of the person i clicked on. And when I select Edit and go to Facebook tab there is an error with an exclamation mark with the message "Unable to edit SNS contacts on phone".

KitKat 4.4 :: Notification Bar Not Displaying Contact Picture For SMS Messages

May 1, 2014

I'm using Hangouts for my SMS messages. Until recently when I received a message and swiped down on the notification bar I would see the contact's picture next to the text message. I have saved contact pictures for most of my gmail contacts (had to since google won't pull in Facebook picture but that's another gripe). Recently however, the contact picture does not display in the notification area when I get an SMS. It just show a grey/black/white image where the contact picture should be. The contact picture still appears in the actual text message and in my list of text messages but not in the notification area. I have a Nexus 5 which I believe is up to date on all updates.

Android :: Calendar Forgets Appointments

Jan 17, 2010

I can forget my own appointments without help, thank you. I hate having a smart phone alert me of an appointment with a phone call asking "Where there hell are you?" It's a "known issue." How comforting. The only workaround I have found is post-it note on the screen and pencil. My G1 may become a paperweight. If Google has enough resources to have a vice-president for climate change, get into the phone and energy businesses, and be VERY political, perhaps they could apply some of those resources to making Google Calendar dependable. What a joke.

I check the "set as default" box then select LP and everything is good again. It all works until I long press home the next time, then the remembered default is gone and I get the prompt again. I've tried rebooting, clearing defaults, etc.

Android :: AppWidgets Restricted To Particular Sizes?

Sep 17, 2010

I'm making an Android AppWidget to sit on the home screen.

The user's home screen space is precious, so I want the widget to be small. The ideal size would be 2x1 cells.

Some documentation suggests you can have any size you like?
But the AppWidget graphical design guidelines imply that only standard sizes are supported: 4x1, 3x3, 2x2.

Does that refer to the available PhotoShop templates or is it a limitation of Android itself?

I'm finding that a 2x1 widget works on my actual device (HTC Wildfire) but expands to 2x2 on the emulator.

HTC have their own special implementation of the home screen, so maybe my widget will only work at 2x1 on HTC devices?

Is there any way to create a 2x1 widget, or should I use a standard size?

My widget was adapted from the Simple Wiktionary sample.

The manifest has android:minWidth="146dip" and android:minHeight="72dip".
There's a RelativeLayout with android:layout_width="fill_parent" and android:layout_height="wrap_content"

I'm just starting with Android, so apologies in advance if this is a silly question. :)

General :: Viewing Photos From Restricted Profiles

Feb 10, 2014

I just created a restricted profile on my Nexus 7 2nd edition. The goal of the restricted profile is to provide a "kiosk"-esq style profile for kids I interact with at work. Currently, I allow the restricted profile to have access to the camera and gallery for them to take pictures and I would then later post them to instagram for our social media page. I don't like the idea of them having access to the companies instagram, so, obviously, I deny that permission. The question I have is, is it possible to access, view, and edit the photos from the restricted profile from the owner profile, but NOT the other way around. Essentially, I want to create a one way street here, but can't figure out how. The photos seem to be independent per profile and I'm wondering how to change that.
