View 3 RepliesI just heard on a podcast that this was announced last year and I didn't even realize it was supposed to work. I have a Nexus 5 and 7 and the google calendar notifications always need to be dismissed on each device, they never sync the dismissals.
Same google and calendar accounts, using fruux. what gives?
I just moved from blackberry to android and I am having some issues with the calendar. My old calendar had individual pop ups for each event, the pop up allowed you to open/snooze/ or dismiss each item individually. Also my old calendar had no trouble syncing my gmail and facebook calendars. Android seems to have trouble doing this seemingly simple task. Is there an app or special calendar that can do this?

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhenever a new notification appears in my notification bar on stock gb rom its always accompanied by the same four browser notifications from months back saying download completed.
I downloaded some images off net for my blog using browser and even when I click clear to clear the notifications its only the same four download completed ones reappear.
Is there some way to manually remove them permanently assuming they are stored on device and for some reason not getting deleted properly?
just got the phone a week ago.i'm using Google Calendar exclusively for all my date keeping. it's great to see that the default calendar apps sync with google calendar (GC)now, in GC (the web version) i set up the default reminders for new appointments to be a) email and b) sms.i noticed that, in order to get notifications on my PHONE as well, i need to add c) pop up to it. tested and that seems to work fine. will that pop up show anywhere else as well though? i never used that notification option before.and i noticed the following two annoying things:
1) default appointment notifications not set when appointment made using phone calendar application
when i make a new appointment from my PHONE, it shows up on the web version after a sync, that's all very cool. BUT then the appointment does not get assigned the default notification options (email and SMS), it only has pop up. any way to work around that? can't seem to find options for that.
2) when appointment made via application, web version of the appointment shows me as a GUEST who has confirmed that's a bit rubbish?! i.e. the experience is totally different from the appointments i set using the web version of GC.
This is driving me crazy. How do I clear voice mail notifications? Let me explain what I do. Of course the first thing is listening to the voice mail. Then I delete it. The notification is still there. When I open the notifications area I see voice mail pending. It's the same voice mail that I already listened and deleted. I click the voice mail icon and it tells me there is no voice mail. Then I go to settings, calls, and there is an option to clear voice mail notification, but is grayed. I can't do anything there. The only thing I can do is turn the phone off and back on. That is the only way I can clear the notifications area. There should be a better way. Anyone has the same problem?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to detect if the clear button on the notification bar has been pressed? or Is there a way to tell if a notification is still active?
During the day, my Desire may accumulate a number of notifications from Calendar, the Missed Call app, and from other apps. I would like to be able to clear these individually, rather than using the Clear button at the top of the notification screen, which clears all outstanding notifications in bulk. Long clicking a notification to get an option to clear it would be an ideal solution.
Is there a way of doing this, or something similar? Have I missed something obvious?
My app has a notification that is supposed to silence itself for a day if you click on "Clear All Notifications". Every day, I see a notification pop up as expected, but after I turn my phone off for a while and then on again, the notification is done. When I check my data, I see that the "silence notification" flag is set, meaning that the service must have received an intent to clear all notifications.
The only time I ever send out that intent is via the deleteIntent (i.e. if Clear All Notifications is clicked), but I've never clicked it myself. Does the OS send that out automatically?
SItuation: I'm at work, sitting at my desk when an email arrives in my gmail account. My nexus one buzzes and the trackball glows with a notification. At the same time, my google talk client notifies me that I have a new gmail message, so I figure the phone notification is for that email. I check the email via gmail on my desktop and I now have no new emails, but the notification on my phone remains. Is there anyway to have this notification disappear once I've checked the email anywhere except the android gmail application? I have the same problem with my work email with the email client, too, and it's a little annoying.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI used to get notified whenever I received an MMS with data turned off.I could tell its an MMS but I could not read it.In order to read it I would have to turn on my data and the message would show up( whatever it was picture or group message or a High priority system alert from a server from my office) Now 2 weeks ago I dont know what changed but this stopped happening.
So I turned on my data one day and I started receiving all these MMS messages that were like a week old.(one of them was an alert from my office) which means i was not getting any MMS notifications.and in order to get MMS notifications I would always need to keep my data on.
How do i get my old setup back which I used to get notified whenever I received an MMS with data turned off.and In order to read it I would have to turn on my data and the message would show up.
Im on family mobile FYI. Im using stock Nexus 4 ROM. No Root.Im using GO SMS PRO & switched to CHOMPSMS.
Can I clear my Facebook notifications in people? I've had my phone for about 4 days, I synced my contact card in people to my Facebook account right away, ever since it's said I have a 157 wall posts. It shows up under the updates and events tab in people. I've tried scrolling through all the notifications, but they won't clear.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm not getting any notifications (eg. email, facebook, whatsapp, ... ) unless the app is currently active. I opened whatsapp and immediately got the notification for a five hour old message.
This applies to other apps as well.
Is there any way I can make the notifications pop up even if the app is not running?
I'm using a Nexus 4 with Android 4.4.2
I've recently just switched over to Android after 5 years with Windows mobile & windows phone. Currently using the Sony Xperia Z1 compact on KitKat, and all is going great so far. But just one issue I am having with notifications from the play store. I have set apps to not auto-update themselves, but have chosen to be notified about updates in the system tray. Unfortunately, I don't seem to be receiving these notifications, even though when i click on 'my apps', I see several need updated.
Do you have to wait a certain amount of time before the system notifies you of these updates?
possible to use the KitKat toast notifications in 4.3 ROM? I am currently using this ROM:URL....I tried to install this: URL.... but my phone started vibrating randomly (Probably 8 times in 10 seconds so pretty annoying) and i kept getting the "com.phone.android has stopped working" error.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHow can I clear my calendar and make it so it doesn't sync with Facebook?Basically I like how my phone syncs people in my phonebook to their facebook profile. I'd like it to put THEIR birthday on my calendar (if they exist in both my phone book and their facebook profile is linked and synced), however I don't want every single facebook contact to have their freaking birthday on my calendar.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm running KitKat (4.4.2) on a MotoX, and I use the stock Email app for a work account. When the phone is locked with all notifications cleared, the first new email to arrives causes the notification sound to play- but no additional sounds play when more new emails arrive if I don't unlock the phone and clear the first one. Is this normal behavior for this app now? I would really like to find a way to get an audible alert for all new Emails like I used to get on my old Android 2.X phone.
View 2 Replies View RelatedNew to Android moving from the iProduct line of goods. What I can add to the locked home screen to display: Missed call, Text received, Email received. I think I need to add a widget or do I add an app which automatically adds any widget available on the widget menu?
Is there one current good app or widget that will do all the above.
On Android 4.3, and playing any type of media such as MP3 or movies, and a text message, e-mail, or any other type of messages is received, unless the phone is actually muted the audio playback is interrupted with a notification. Has that been addressed in KitKat?
I'd like the option to dis-able audio notifications (blinking LED or vibrate is preferred) so the audio experience isn't interrupted.
My alarm notifications no longer have the dismiss option.
View 19 Replies View RelatedI have a Virgin Mobile Galaxy S3 that just got the 4.4 update this morning. Afterwards it had to redownload/update nearly every app on the device as well as all my SNES and Playsation ROMs which I though was odd.
Now all the notifications for thos downloads will not go away. I've cleared them all at once, I've cleared them all individually. When I turn the screen off and then turn it back on an dunlock the phone all those notifications are back in the notification bar.
I was prompted to update to Kit Kat on my Samsung Galaxy S3 this morning. The updated downloaded & installed without any issues - but now the same 3 notifications are constantly displayed on my phone. If I clear, they come back. Same for when I re-boot my phone:
01-Take-A-Chance.mp3
Download complete
ioOX40xgzyOil.gif
Download complete
0zHzHEe.gif

It has only happened since this update and it's getting very irritating having these display permanently and come back seconds after I clear each time.
Now, when it comes to the official Android Facebook application I've been using it on my Nexus 5 and my previous Galaxy S2. I use to always try and remember to place it in the background to minimise battery drain (I know this isn't perfect, but it did make a difference battery wise, because if I leave it in the foreground, the battery would drain).
Recently I've been running a number of tests and I have identified whenever I receive a Facebook notification, battery drain dramatically increases (e.g. over 10% in an hour with no use (sitting idle (black screen) and locked). If I don't get Facebook notifications, then the battery life is solid and last for ages.
So I tried: Disabling all Facebook notifications. I've then tested a number of times... I get a friend to send me a Facebook private message (they then SMS me to let me know when they send the Facebook message). My phone does NOT generate a Facebook notification message, BUT I notice the dramatic battery drain kicks in as described above (phone gets very warm as well) when they send the Facebook notification.
* I then tried ending the Facebook task. This does nothing. The dramatic battery drain pattern continues.
* If I turn the phone on and off, it stops the battery drain.
* I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Facebook. No difference, problem still occurs.
* I'm using the latest Facebook application as at 30/01/14.
I know the advice is to uninstall Facebook, but I know I could also install Greenify, but I don't want to root my phone (yet) (and the non-rooted feature is something you need to remember to do - knowing me I will forget to force stop)).
There was something similar on Facebook Messenger (which I don't have installed) (I just found a battery-draining bug in the Facebook Messenger standalone app, and how to report it at Facebook who can fix it. : Android)
Whenever I leave a wifi zone and the phone switches to mobile data I get annoying notification messages/bong from the stock email app that it "can't sign in to Yahoo mail". If I follow the notification it says the username/password is wrong which is obviously crap because it has no trouble getting mail over wifi.
View 12 Replies View Relatedso i got my new Nexus 5, set it all up.find that the stock calendar app is still hit or miss as to whether it decides to show items in the calendar.i had my old nexus 4 sitting next to it and the nexus 5 wasn't showing an item that the nexus 4 was (this item was also showing on the web version of the calendar).i then scroll thru and the nexus 5 shows an item that the nexus 4 doesn't.
this really makes the calendar app un-usable, as you are never sure if it's 100% accurate or not!
one example of a missing item is from a holidays calendar that i added via the google calendars list.now it isn't EVERY item from that calendar that is missing, it's the odd one or two.
another instance of missing items is from the birthdays calendar, again some as above, some show some don't.
so it this something that i just need to live with (ie do others see this?)or is there some fix? this is a brand new nexus 5 with a fresh setup.
I just got a Motorola Moto X with Android 4.4. I set up my work's Exchange Server account on my phone and it syncs email correctly. However, most calendar events are missing. The calendar events that do appear on my phone begin to duplicate every time the phone syncs to the server. These duplicates do not appear when I access my calendar online or on my laptop.
The only trend I see is that any event added after I got my new phone will sync and then duplicate. Older events either do not sync at all, or do sync but then don't duplicate.
Touchdown does work correctly, but I also use Google Calendar so I need all my events to be access by the Android's native calendar application, so Touchdown is not the solution for me.
I have already done the following with no success:
1. Deleted and re-created the Exchange account on my phone.
2. Logged into the web interface for my work's owa server and deleted extra devices/phones configured to sync to the server (based on this thread: Duplicate email/calendar/contacts for Exchange ... | T-Mobile Support)
3. I have already cleared data and caches in my calendar apps, then re-synced.
It's a massive bummer for a scheduling bug like me not to have access to a reliable calendar.
So I am new to the Android phone, have had it for about a month. Hopefully this isn't a stupid question but how do I get the reminders from my calendar with a sound to go with it.
