So the recent update for Google Now introduced the new feature that gives you cards when a "website" updates, much like RSS. Trouble is, I can't find where to activate this, change settings, or specify what websites to watch etc, I can only find news reports of such a feature. Or is this only for 4.4 KK?

Now I have been wanting to install cwm recovery on my device since a long long time, and rom manager isn't compatible with my device. I finally found a cwm.zip file for my device somewhere. The site told me to flash it via stock recovery, by the apply update from sdcard option. So I went into recovery, and when I click on apply update from sdcard option, I see only ../ I don't see a list of files on my external sd card. I tried formatting my sdcard, tried reinserting it, nothing worked.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a new softwinerkf026 (also known as 9" Capacitive Allwinner A13) tablet* running Android 4.1.1 and the 32 Gbt Sandisk micro sd will not mount. (SanDisk 32GB Ultra Android Micro SD (SDHC) Class 10 UHS-1 30MB/s) I tried reformatting the mico sd on my computer with FAT 32 default settings and rebooting the tablet but it still can't be recognized or mounted. I also tried another older 1Gbt sandisk, tried reformatting the mico sd and rebooting the tablet but still not recognized. Under settings / Storage there are two places where it says internal storage/mount SD card but selecting either one pressing long or short does not appear to do anything. There is nothing there that says external SD. I have tried reformatting the 32Gbt card and 1Gbt card with FAT 32 default file allocation, exFat32 and also NTSF but still no recognition. Now its back to FAT32 default file allocation size.
I am wondering if this is a setting problem, a hardware problem or an android software or bios problem. Is there any way I can test if the micro sd can be detected by the bios?
I instaled a sd memory card, changed the settings in the camara options. Pics are saved in extSdcard folder but not in the memory card. What can I do?

Mr. Hildebrand's excellent editorial makes me think--as my only association with the word "rooting" is "avocado pit"--I am one of those who ought not to try rooting my phone.However there are two things I want to do. How to do them without rooting.
(1) I want to store one large app--The Simpsons Tapped Out--on my SD card. I tried installing an app I thought would allow me to move the game app--
App 2 SD--but it only produced a list of apps that CAN be moved to my SD card: "TSTO" is on this list. I found in forums instructions purportedly for my phone, telling me I could move an app to the SD card by choosing the "move" button in Applications Manager. I have no such button. (I have Android version 4.1.2) So: is there any way for me to move an app to my SD card without rooting my phone?
(2) I also read online that I can take a screenshot with my phone by pressing the power button and the down-volume button at the same time. This turns down my volume and then turns off my phone. No screen shot. Is there a way to take a screenshot with this phone without rooting?
I am willing to risk rooting if there is no other way. The game in question is the only one in my phone, the only one I play--and every time a game update comes in, now, I get a message saying the phone hasn't memory enough to load it. This is why I installed the (still blank) SD card.
I own a GIONEE P2 mobile phone with MTK6572 processor and android 4.2.2. I successfully rooted the phone and it was working fine until my internet stopped one morning and upon restarting the phone, it wrote SIM1: SIM card not detected, SIM2: sim card not detected. I have tried all I could yet no avail as I can't use SIM card in the phone. I used MTK droid tool but nothing could be done, also entering engineering mode with ##4636##, the radio remained permanently turned off and couldn't turn on. I used IMEI tools to rewrite and replace the NVRAM files yet nothing happened. it has been very frustrating trying to find a solution but none found. WIFI and bluetooth still work fine.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just bought HTC Desire 500 and this is actually the first android smartphone i ever used, all this while I have been using the classic Nokia Symbian( so basically I only have 1 day experience with android) and i checked the android version for my HTC and it shows 4.1.2 while according to a website I found I should be able to update to 4.2 ( I think). And yes I have tried using 'update software' from the phone's setting and it says I am up to date.I am wanting to use so many features of 4.2 versions.

I have tried the strategy of clicking on an apps setting and clicking the button that should be halfway down the page that allows me to move it from the internal storage to the SD card, but the button, for any of my apps, does not appear. I have a semi-rooted Galaxy S3 (I tried to root it but even the apps installed by KingRoot said my phone wasn't rooted... I also occasionally get a notification that says "unauthorized access to a secure area has been blocked." I also tried to factory reset in an attempt to un-root, but nothing happened..
Anyway, I tried to update to 4.2 (I'm on Sprint) and now my phone won't turn on.
I just got OS4.3 pushed to my Samsung Galaxy S3 and noticed the "eye" symbol in my notification bar. The icon remained there even though Smart-Stay wasn't enabled and I have no Smart-Rotation feature showing on my phone when I go into Settings->My Device->Smart Screen. Instead, the "Eye" icon disappears when I disable my screen rotation. My coworker, on a different wireless/phone carrier, got the 4.3 upgrade last week (on his Galaxy S3) and HAS the Smart-Rotate option in his settings.
I don't wan't the camera active and draining battery just because I have screen-rotation enabled.
After recently updating to the latest android 4.3 on my Note 2, I suddenly cannot play voicemails through my car bluetooth anymore. I can still make and receive calls through the car and therefore dial into my voicemails, but cannot just play back a specific message directly from my list of voicemails within the voicemail program - its the stock program that came with the phone. I can also play back directly through my bluetooth headset, just not to my car audio anymore. What gives? Obviously something changed with the update that I cant figure out. This is the last time I ever do an update unless its absolutely necessary, it seems like every time something gets jacked up that takes me hours to resolve.

Can i udate the software once i put my Digicel sim card in this S4 because the phone came with 4.2 installed but i have read it is elligible for an update to 4.3. Since it is technically an at&t phone but unlocked. I dont know much about this kind of thing. I tried to do it via Kies and it says that I cant update this version using Kies. I never received any update whenever I check it only says update interrupted and no software available. While android 4.3 was out on at&t and it's been weeks. What should I do?
