i will get the data on my login id(newbi123) from the computer to my android app and display:

I've downloaded a few networking apps (games) that have you log in, then take you to a "home" type screen where you can change your settings, or start a new game, or view your buddies etc.My question is two-part:
1) how are these "multipanel" apps created? Is each panel its own activity? I've tried adding different panels through Views, but on the apps I described above, when I hit the back button on my phone, it takes me to the previous screen and in my apps, it just takes me out of the app when I hit back (again I'll I've done are add separate views). Can someone point me in the right direction of what I need to do to create a multipanel application that when I click a button, a new panel loads, then when I hit back on the phone, it takes me to the previous panel?
2) one of my panels will be a login page which I will post the log-in credentials via http post to my server for authentication. I would like to remember the log-in "token" that is passed back to the client so they don't have to log in every time they use my application. Again, referring to some of the apps that I have, they offer this feature but I can not locate anything on the phone where it would be saved. Is this done with xml usually?
I create lables textboxes and buttons with the help of textview and buttons..! Now i need to connect the database , If I click the login button it will connect the database and validate it.
If validation i need to show home screen..!
1) If i click the back button it wont show login screen
2) While click the login button i need to show process dialog

I've got a few questions about edittext..
I'm trying to create a login screen on Android. I'm taking in a username and a password and then sending the results to another method. I've just got a few questions about it...
1) If I have two edittext's and the user enters values in both and then hits a "login" button, I want the button to take the values that were entered in the 2 edittext boxes, convert and save them to a string and then pass them to a function. I'm unsure how I'd construct this button. The problem I'm having is making it a string I'm currently doing this.. String user = edittext.getText();
But that doesn't seem to work. Also I'm unsure what way Android saves Edittext inputs.. Will it just automatically save it to the string once the user is no longer working out of the box? e.g will...

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to connect to my University's network , the my Galaxy S is able to connect JUST fine. However, when I open a browser it says the incoming certificate is not secure and then I have NO INTERNET on any page. It tries to redirect me to the login page for the network but fails to do so with a "communications error" and subsequent no internet access of any sort.
What the network is supposed to do is redirect me to the login page so that I can register the device to the network and login using my university account. My phone can't do that apparently and just sits connected to the network with NO INTERNET connectivity.
This is the university network and the instructions how to get on it for Android devices: [URL] .... I connect to it just fine but am UNABLE to get to that device registration/login page.
This is NOT just for my university. ANY public network which requires me to accept an "agreement" before it lets me have internet access, my phone KILLS ITSELF and CANNOT pull up the agreement page but instead tells me there is no internet. I'm SURE its a software problem or something with settings but can't figure out just what it is.
Just about the only networks I can connect to on Wi-Fi are home networks.
Is the WIFI on Htc Hero designed to auto login to a network that i had logged in before?or i have to download an app that does that job ?

Did any one hear about this issue before? tried searching the net and saw there is a problem but could find any solution. needless to say that i tried all options (open my wireless w/o security, opened NAT and virtual server to all ports etc.)

Below is how I did it. I believe an sql statement should be inserted there am I right? And I know I missed out something. Before I match the username and password, I should check whether the user exist in the database first, and then check whether the password match with the username.

I am new to developing applications for android but have developed my first app. I have following questions.
1. Is it possible to create a client server app? I mean the application on one phone acting as server and applications on other phones sending/receiving data from it?
2. Create a wifi network (may be using bluetooth) for the above client server app. The idea being not to use the mobile service provide network but rather a local network.
I've been trying to create a local connection to a computer with a Socket from the emulator thinking that it would automagically uses a emulated wifi connection. It doesn't work, in particular because wifi is not supported on the emulator:
- Does a Socket connection automatically choose the fastest connection (the wifi one if it exists).
- Why wifi not supported by the emulator? Will it be?
For those in countries still not blessed by the grace of having the possibility to buy a Gphone, that can be useful...

The problem is, I can't seem to find a way to connect to any systems. There is a box at the bottom to select your protocol (SSH, Telnet, etc) and then another box to enter the connection information (username@servernameortnumber). However, I found no "login" or "connect" button, so I have no idea how to establish a connection with this app. I looked in the menu settings, but it just contained options that let you change the way the app looks and helps generate keys for you if you want to use keys instead of passwords, which I don't, so the only thing I could do was enter the target system info. For anyone that's used this, what is the process to actually establish a connection with another system?
