View 1 RepliesWhen I plugged my phone into my computer (Mac) to move music on to it it came up with the option to charge only, HTC sync, Disk drive, and share Internet. I know that with Sprint you can pay for the Mobile hotspot app, which in my opinion is way to expensive, so I was wondering if the USB sharing is free or if it is bundled with the mobile hotspot add on.

When connecting through USB my HTC Desire, I am sometimes asked if I want to share the Internet. The fact is that it would try sharing HTC Desire's internet to my computer, but it has here no interest, as the opposite is most current for me. Is there a reverse implementation of this as an Android GUI?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if anyone knows how to share internet through the phone. I run windows 7 on my netbook and I have installed HTC sync. When I connect my HTC evo and set the connection status as share internet and then open pdanet I get error 651. Now I don't have the wifi sharing plan, just the regular all data 450 + min. plan. Is there a workaround for this or do I need the more expensive wireless sharing plan? I don't want wireless sharing I just want tethering. Is this doable?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am going to be going on a 5+ hour trip tomorrow, and I would like to let my girlfriend use my Incredible internet connection on her new Mac Book. Ideally I'd like to just turn my Incredible into a WiFi hotspot so she can simply connect while I keep it plugged in to charge. However, since I'm not rooted, I know it's not so simple. Anyone here have advice for it? I know I can do Blue tooth connections with PdaNet, but that takes a lot of configuring on the Mac, doesn't it? I also know I can tether one of many ways, but never tried on her Mac before. Anyone have any solutions for the best method to handle this?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have created an adhoc wifi connection with internet sharing enabled on windows 7 and am struggling to get my Desire to see it. Another laptop can see it as well as my ipod touch.
I have tried both WEP and WPA-2 security types (only two available) and I cannot see the wifi.
Is there anything I have to do on the phone?
Forgot to add - I am able to connect to my home wifi (bt homehub) but I am no longer at home.
I recently bought a HTC Tattoo. And I like to access internet on Tattoo using PC broadband connection. I have ASUS motherboard with inbuild WiFi support. So, using that I have made my WiFi of PC to Access Point Mode. So, now I am able to connect to PC using that WiFi network. But I am unable to access internet. Can anyone suggest me the way to share my PC internet to my HTC Tattoo to save money when we are at home.

The connection is open with WEP disabled. From a Windows Mobile 6 PDA I am able to see various WiFi routers, my laptop ICS and connect to the laptop ICS.From Android I am only able to see the various WiFi routers, but not the laptop ICS connection.Does the Windows ICS use some special Microsoft protocol that the Android WiFi adapter can not detect? Is there some other Android software or app that can connect the Windows WiFi ICS?
View 4 Replies View RelatedAnyone know how to set up the phone to share internet via bluetooth? I've been using the Wireless AP mode which works really well, but I think the bluetooth mode will use less power.I've been able to pair the phone with my macbook, but I'm not sure what settings it needs on both sides. On the phone I'm assuming just enabling bluetooth is enough for it to be a modem, but on the macbook I need to fill out:username, password, apn and cid. I'm not sure where to find this info. Please god tell me I don't have to call Bell to get it.
View 4 Replies View RelatedThe Sprint CSR that I spoke with last night went through some settings with me but eventually she escalated the call and I was disconnected shortly thereafter due to a terrible connection. I just spoke with another Sprint CSR and once again I was told that there is no way to share the Internet connection with my PC, yet I see that there appear to be many people who are able to do this. The CSR said that some of the legacy customers were grandfathered in... is this the case? I am running OS 2.1 Update 1 according to Settings > About Phone > Software Information > Firmware version
I would REALLY like to have this capability when I travel... I don't need it here at home, but on the road, it would really help, especially in the airports.
Does anyone knows if it's possible to share the LAN connection (and ultimately, Internet connection) with my Droid ?
I mean: When I connect my motorola milestone to my PC via a USB cable, the milestone gets up a mini web server exposing a web site that allows basic control of the phone (SMS). Delving into this, I found the driver opens a new network address space. My Phone is 192.168.1.2 and my PC is 192.168.1.1. I thought it should be easy to share LAN and Internet between my phone and the PC, given the fact that the network connection is established.
After I updated to the 2.1 I get the following options when I connect my phone to my computer via USB:
Charge Only
--Charge phone over USB
HTC Sync
--sync contacts and calendar
Disk Drive
--Mount as Disk Drive
Internet Sharing
--Share phone's mobile network with PC
When I click on Internet Sharing I get the following message:
Data Call Failure
"Error Code 67 .Registration failure.
Your PCS Vision username and/or
password may be incorrect. Please
try again."
However I have no way of adding that information. Is this a service you have to pay for (extra) in your Sprint Bill? Or is it a bug in the 2.1 update.
I own an HTC Magic and am about to go travelling around my country.
I have the 3g connection on the magic and want to know if I can share it somehow to my laptop using a wireless network or the usb data cable. I would love to be able to surf the net on my laptop using the phone as the modem!
Does anybody know if this is possible - what apps I need and how to do it!
I've recently updated my Hero to 2.1 & am now unable to tether it to my laptop. It worked when I had the old firmware on the phone. I've installed the new version of HTC Sync but whenever I try to connect via the phone (after selecting internet sharing on the phone) it connects to "a network" but then the next link in the chain, a connection to the internet has a red cross through it. When I ask Windows to diagnose the fault I get the error message "DNS server isn't responding".
I'm on Windows 7 64bit if that makes a difference.
Try to get internet sharing up on my rickety old laptop that I use only for this purpose, its running windows 2000 and I am trying to install HTC_Sync_2.0.33. Keep getting the error message :
The operating system is not adequate for running HTC Sync.
My laptop is older but the specs are above the requirements, and according to the download info from HTC, I should be workable.
I have a Macbook Pro, its connected to Ethernet & I want to share the internet connection with my Samsung Galaxy S. I enabled Internet Sharing on my Mac, selected Airport under ports & provided a WEP password. On my Galaxy S, I select my macbook on the list of WiFi n/w, provide the password, but it never gets connected & there is no error msg either. Has anyone else tried this? Any ideas on why this is happening? BTW, I'm able to connect my Galaxy S to my wireless router at home.

I just bought the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 and realized it cannot share internet to a computer via bluetooth or wifi. Is there any apps or anything else which enables it to easy share internet? I have found something called Android wifi tether. But this does not work for Sony Ericsson.I really need an application for this purpose and I cannot wait until Sony Ericsson's comes with the update for Android 2.1.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIm really looking at getting this phone. What I really need though is to have the ability to use my phone as a wifi router to use my laptop when needed. My current 2 year old samsung i760 is running an app called WM wifi router that is currently doing this, for free. To me this is a deal breaker if the phone cannot do this. I have looked everywhere on the interwebz and have not found no such info for this phone.
View 15 Replies View RelatedI was trying to use my PC's LAN Shared Internet on my Samsung Galaxy S using bluetooth internet connection sharing. The settings are correctly provided on my laptop. However, Samsung Galaxy S's bluetooth doesn't seem to be able to recognize this. i.e., Galaxy S doesn't have a network profile, due to which it always connects to my Laptop for headset service. Is this a limitation of Galaxy S? Can't Galaxy S connect to bluetooth for network sharing services?

View 8 Replies View Relatedi'm here at work and have been trying for the last hour to get my phone to work as a modem. I got the same error message over and over again after connecting it to my computer "Error Code 67, your PCS Vision username and password may be incorrect." I installed HTC Sync, and it still doesn't work. So, assuming to myself that tethering for just one computer would be free, I call up Sprint tech support to find out what the problem is. First person didn't know what I was talking about so I was transferred to a really nice lady who helped me reprogram the phone but that didn't work so she sent me to another woman from tech support who had me go into System Updates and select Update Profile. I did that twice while talking to her and nothing fixed the problem.I kept getting error 67.So then, I get transferred to "Advanced" tech support and I talk to a really cool guy who goes out of his way to find a loop hole, but no success. So, he explains to me that after looking at it that they don't offer the "phone as modem" option anymore to my account type, and even then it would be $15 a month to just tether one phone. He said he could add the wifi hotspot option but I told him I don't want to pay $30/month for something I only use on Saturdays and when I travel. So after a hour on the phone, I got nowhere... but then I went onto the App Store and found Easy Tether-Lite and after 5 minutes I am sitting here writing this thread. (The full version said it supports https but idk what that means and I can surf the web now).
I only have one concern now though.I'm really happy this works but i'm scared now because this App was too easy to setup. I feel like I may be charged up the ass by Sprint somehow by finding this loophole or I may get penalized. My family and I are on the Everything Data where all data is unlimited so I don't think I should have a problem but after paying $30 extra a month for data with AT&T and finding this work around i'm getting paranoid that i'm going to get a bill at the end of the month charging me for tethering. So I guess i'll see what happens, but i'm glad for now.
Can some one help me with this. because i haven't found a way to do so.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just ordered a Lenovo S2110 Android tablet with keyboard dock. The idea was to use this 20 hour machine on road trips to do work related activities. For my job, I need to connect via VPN to get access to my work's intranet. I can do that fine in Windows on my pc or my work laptop. I was hoping to do this via Android and the Cisco AnyConnect program. Unfortunately my company doesnt have the license for Cisco AnyConnect mobile so I cannot connect directly via android.
Is it at all possible to connect and share the connection via my home pc that is connected via VPN via the internet somehow? Meaning, can I have VPN running at home and if I am away, connect through the internet and get the VPN tunnel to my android so I can connect to the work websites through the Android browser? Or access my shared network drive?
Only other option I see is using Team Viewer of Splash Desktop to connect as a remote session, but that is not preferable .
