Motorola Milestone :: Sharing Internet And LAN Between Android And PC

Jan 5, 2010

Does anyone knows if it's possible to share the LAN connection (and ultimately, Internet connection) with my Droid ?

I mean: When I connect my motorola milestone to my PC via a USB cable, the milestone gets up a mini web server exposing a web site that allows basic control of the phone (SMS). Delving into this, I found the driver opens a new network address space. My Phone is 192.168.1.2 and my PC is 192.168.1.1. I thought it should be easy to share LAN and Internet between my phone and the PC, given the fact that the network connection is established.

Motorola Milestone :: Milestone Doesn't Take Permission To Connect To 3G Internet

Sep 8, 2010

I just got a milestone yesterday, and I was fascinated by it. The only thing that kills me, is that it doesn't take permission to connect to the internet. I used to have a Nokia, which always had to take my permission first to connect to 3G internet network.

But with the milestone, it doesn't, and I get charged for every single 1kb used I just lost what is equivalent to $10 USD in the last 5 mins for just trying to open Google and download the SlideME app. is there some kind of hidden tasks that uses the internet or something ?

One more thing, today morning, I opened facebook after recharging my credit balance with 20 USD. And guess what ? They're all gone too for just opening the home page! if I have an active internet connection, how can I close it ?

Motorola Droid :: Internet Sharing - WiFi Router

Nov 19, 2009

Im really looking at getting this phone. What I really need though is to have the ability to use my phone as a wifi router to use my laptop when needed. My current 2 year old samsung i760 is running an app called WM wifi router that is currently doing this, for free. To me this is a deal breaker if the phone cannot do this. I have looked everywhere on the interwebz and have not found no such info for this phone.

Motorola Milestone :: Does Google Navigation Work Without Internet?

Dec 30, 2009

After seeing the image of Google selling the unlocked version of the Nexus One, I'm intrigued to buy one. However, I'm wondering if Google navigation will work without Internet as I don't plan on buying a data plan. If Google navigation does work, can you tell me what features, if any, are lacking because of the loss of Internet. I understand that this cannot answered by a person without a Nexus One, since its not released yet, but does anyone with a Motorola Milestone know the answer?

I'm using my Milestone fine and everything, but there's a small problem. Sometimes when I'm using the Internet, it'll say say I have a 3G or H Connection but doesn't load anything? The same happens on the Android market, it'll stay loading a list of Apps for ages and will tell there's a trouble with the connection, but then 2 minutes later it'll be fine. Android :: HTC Evo - Internet Sharing Via USB

Jul 22, 2010

When I plugged my phone into my computer (Mac) to move music on to it it came up with the option to charge only, HTC sync, Disk drive, and share Internet. I know that with Sprint you can pay for the Mobile hotspot app, which in my opinion is way to expensive, so I was wondering if the USB sharing is free or if it is bundled with the mobile hotspot add on.

Is there a workaround for this or do I need the more expensive wireless sharing plan? I don't want wireless sharing I just want tethering. Is this doable?

HTC Incredible :: Best Internet Sharing Method?

Jul 30, 2010

I am going to be going on a 5+ hour trip tomorrow, and I would like to let my girlfriend use my Incredible internet connection on her new Mac Book. Ideally I'd like to just turn my Incredible into a WiFi hotspot so she can simply connect while I keep it plugged in to charge. However, since I'm not rooted, I know it's not so simple. Anyone here have advice for it? I know I can do Blue tooth connections with PdaNet, but that takes a lot of configuring on the Mac, doesn't it? I also know I can tether one of many ways, but never tried on her Mac before. Anyone have any solutions for the best method to handle this?

Sprint HTC Hero :: Unable To Get Internet Sharing

Jun 18, 2010

The Sprint CSR that I spoke with last night went through some settings with me but eventually she escalated the call and I was disconnected shortly thereafter due to a terrible connection. I just spoke with another Sprint CSR and once again I was told that there is no way to share the Internet connection with my PC, yet I see that there appear to be many people who are able to do this. The CSR said that some of the legacy customers were grandfathered in... is this the case? I am running OS 2.1 Update 1 according to Settings > About Phone > Software Information > Firmware version
I would REALLY like to have this capability when I travel... I don't need it here at home, but on the road, it would really help, especially in the airports.

Sprint HTC Hero :: Internet Sharing Questions

Jul 18, 2010

After I updated to the 2.1 I get the following options when I connect my phone to my computer via USB:

Charge Only
--Charge phone over USB
HTC Sync
--sync contacts and calendar
Disk Drive
--Mount as Disk Drive
Internet Sharing
--Share phone's mobile network with PC

When I click on Internet Sharing I get the following message:

Data Call Failure
"Error Code 67 .Registration failure.
Your PCS Vision username and/or
password may be incorrect. Please
try again."

However I have no way of adding that information. Is this a service you have to pay for (extra) in your Sprint Bill? Or is it a bug in the 2.1 update.

HTC Hero :: Internet Sharing/tethering Problem With 2.1

Aug 31, 2010

I've recently updated my Hero to 2.1 & am now unable to tether it to my laptop. It worked when I had the old firmware on the phone. I've installed the new version of HTC Sync but whenever I try to connect via the phone (after selecting internet sharing on the phone) it connects to "a network" but then the next link in the chain, a connection to the internet has a red cross through it. When I ask Windows to diagnose the fault I get the error message "DNS server isn't responding".

I'm on Windows 7 64bit if that makes a difference.
