Is it better to use wi-fi when available. I'm sure it's faster, but does it save on the battery? Do you still get e-mail and sms when on wi-fi? What's the simplest way to go back and forth?

I am having an issue with my HTC Droid Incredible. When going to Settings>Wireless and networks and looking under Mobile Network, it says "Turning on." However, it stays in that mode and never "turns on."Things I have tried
1. Restart the phone/taking the battery out
2. Reset the phone to factory settings by going to Privacy in Settings
3. Contact Verizon and have them remove and re-add the data plan
I have noticed that, when I call *228, and try to activate the phone, it says an error occurred and it could not activate the phone. I can make phone calls from the phone, but cannot do anything that requires a data plan, meaning that it is an issue with that. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this issue?
So based on early looks at android 2.2 Froyo, there will be a mobile hotspot feature. If and when the HTC incredible gets 2.2, is it possible to add this feature via the software or is it hardware dependent?

However, I'm quite reliant on Google Voice. Throughout the day, I turned the mobile network back on briefly to receive messages. Is this constant on/off bad for the 1x/EV radio?

If I get the TV-Out cable (the one that has the male and female plug so it can charge) get the job done? Can I expect at least a pleasurable viewing experience for a football game? At $10 it's really my only option and that's actually a pretty good price considering....

When watching live streaming content using NFL Mobile app over my wifi connection(which is Cox Cable), the feed loses its connection after exactly five minutes of streaming. At the five minute mark, the feed will freeze and the V-Cast loading icon will appear spinning, then an error message will appear saying that NFL Mobile could not establish a connection. Back out at any point during this and hit the button to play live content, live content will work again flawlessly for exactly five minutes. Then the feed will freeze, etc...There are no problems with live streaming content when I am using 3G. I have tried using several different routers at different settings and the problem occurs the same with all of them, and I have no problems with streaming content over wifi other than NFL Mobile. This problem also never occurred with the versions of NFL Mobile prior to the current 2.0 version. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? The app streams much better over wifi, but that's not worth having to restart it every five minutes. A big reason of mine for being with Verizon is the NFL Mobile app so if anyone knows anything please let me know.

When i opened my app drawer I noticed the 3g mobile hotspot app. I was wondering if I can use that without being charged or do i have to add that feature through verizon because that is what it says when i start it up. is it just a free service that is added as a perk with this rom or should i stay away from using it?

I tried to open the web browser and it said no data service could be found and that I needed to enable wifi or the mobile network. I checked the settings for the mobile network and it says "turning on" and it's greyed out. What's going on here? I've already tried turning it off/on again 3 times now.
View 6 Replies View RelatedSo I'm just curious if anyone else is seeing this. I understand wi-fi sleeps after 15 minutes of inactivity, but I guess I assumed mobile networking would always stay on. What I'm seeing is, if I leave my phone alone for a little while, as soon as I wake it up, the 3G symbol is not displayed. A second or two later it will show up, and then it will sync. This behavior makes it so that my Gmail push is not as instantaneous as it would be if the 3G always stayed active. I believe (although I'm not positive), that the phone must wake 3G every once in awhile to get e-mails though, although it might just wake up when i get a text or phone call.
I don't see this as a major problem, especially if it's helping me save battery life, but I am curious if this is due to a setting, or if it's just the way the phone works.
Problem: When I connect my phone through USB and put Mobile Broadband Connect On, my 3G connection does not work, not even on my cell. All apps requiring requiring 3G work wont' star
Here is how it happened. I was trying to use my incredible for tethering using Pdanet/Easytether on my Windows 7 Netbook. PDAnet worked in the best Lately due some reasons or HTC sync the modem drivers seem to be not found by PDanet , after many times sets of install and uninstalls of the different softwares, I got the idea to use the VZ broadband connect software to install drivers on my laptop. The drivers worked and so I did set up a a network connection (dialup like) and it seemed to connect but asking me to subscribe to VZ broadband connect.
Now when I ask my phone through USB and put Mobile Broadband on, i get a message of disconnecting mobile internet and the 3G on my cell does not work anymore.
I've noticed some websites automatically route to the mobile version, while others go to the full site. Is there rhyme or reason to how this works and is it user controllable? Which do most people prefer, mobile or full?

So far, I'm very happy with the switch and enjoy everything about the HTC Incredible.I'm having a problem with the MOBILE NETWORK being disabled when I'm connected to WI-FI (my home network or any other WI-FI hot spot). Is this suppose to happen? Is there any way to allow this not to happen?? Why does this happen? The problem I'm running in to is when receiving or sending MMS / SMS text messages with pics, I am getting a "MESSAGE NOT DOWNLOADED - GENERIC NETWORK FAILURE" message in my status bar.
View 20 Replies View RelatedI set up a family group in "people". When I send an MMS pic to the group it ends up sending it to all their email addresses instead of their mobile numbers. Everything looks right in their contact info and it seems like it should be defaulting to their mobile number when you add them within the "messaging" app.
It works fine when I add everyone manually since it asks me if I want to send to their mobile number or their email. I just want it to default to their mobile numbers if I am working within the messaging app. It's not a deal breaker but kinda annoying since we all send each other pics all the time and having a group set up to do it was actually really easy on my old Windows 6.1.
Is there a way to do this?? I find it ridiculous that home, work, fax, emails, and all other categories come up as "suggestions" when trying to text. Is there a way to set "mobile" number as a default?
