I know on my Eris there was an option somewhere. When composing a new text message in the To field I only want Reciepients with Mobile numbers to be displayed. Where is that option?

I have a weird one. If I send a text on my Motorola Cliq XT, within my preset Advance Task Killer timeout (3 minutes I believe) the phone disconnects from the network and then the SIM needs to be unlocked.
Is there an App that should be running that I need to Add to the Ignore list? It only happens after texting.
Firmware is Android Version 1.5
NFL Mobile application forced an update today and I followed the instructions to uninstall the old application when the new one was installed. when I run the app I am getting an error notification that: "You appear to be roaming. to avoid excess roaming charges video has been disabled". I show 3G and am in my home area. I can play the videos if I enable WIFI but that isnt the point. My phone is not displaying the roaming icon. Phone is the Droid Incredible.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWe are just beginning a rollout of EVOs to our firm. The first one other than mine has an interesting problem. We have successfully synched his Contacts with our email system.He is trying to add a new contact on the EVO. He successfully creates and saves the contact, but it does not display under "People". If he does a search though, he can find it. None of the contacts he is adding are showing up unless a Search is done. They are added under Google contacts, where the rest of the contacts are and are not in any groups. Any ideas as to why they won't display?

That's really annoying since I have to keep scrolling down to choose the contacts I want.

View 15 Replies View RelatedI'm just wondering what people find to be the quickest way to send texts from the Hero. I've actually noticed that I'm avoiding sending them unless absolutely necessary, because the process just seems so much more drawn out than on any other phone.
At the moment, I'm going via 'people', clicking on the person's name then going to 'SMS' that's already 3 clicks. I guess that's not so bad, but I'm used to doing all this with one button, so it seems like a lot of faff. Is there a better way to do it?
Also, how the heck do you add contacts to your 'favourite people' list? I can't figure this out at all.
I had to switch out samsung transform ultras recently so I exported all my contacts from my old phone to the sd card and when I got the new phone I synced with my google account and tons of contacts that weren't. On my old list were showing up I tried deleting over 100 people from all the social sites and google said it was too many so I just reset the phone to factory and set up a new gmail and turned off auto syncing. Then I imported my contacts from the SD card and while they are recognized when I dial the number manually or the contact calls me they are not showing up in my actual contact list.

In my contacts, I've got it set to only show Phone contacts, and I've hidden Sim/Gmail contacts. I've also linked all my contacts with their Facebook profiles. So in my contacts list (People), it's fine. However, when I go to messaging and start typing a name in the To field, there's a duplicate of everyone. As far as I can see, there's no similar "hide SIM" option etc for the texting/calling, so I'm just wondering how to sort this? I saw someone to try deleting all phone contacts and just using your SIM contacts but to be honest I'd rather not do this, since I like to just use my SIM contacts as a basic backup if you get me.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo i have my contacts in my phone, fine and dandy, when i first got my phone i accidently synched facebook contacts with my phone, meaning every person on my facebook with a phone # on their fb was imported into my phone, you know as well as i do, 90% of our fb friends arent phone contact friends, so i unsynched fb..now the issue im having is this. If i go into messaging, and in the To: feild i start to type a persons name in my contact to text them, for some people it doesnt show up, altho if u go into my contacts their name is clearly there. The other issue, is when i start to type names, it still brings up peoples names and numbers from FB altho their contact isnt saved in my phone..so everytime i wanna text someone i hasve to goto contacts, find them, clickhold and select text contact..kind of annoying for mass texts ect....
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I start a new thread for sending a text, I look up the person in my contact list. The problem is that for some people I have multiple points of contact. (ie cell phone, home phone, fax, email address) Let's say that I want to text a person named Jason. If I have 6 people in my contact list named Jason, by the time I type in the 5 letters in Jason (I haven't limited it by their last name yet) I could still have 24 contacts, if every one of those Jason's had a cell, home, fax, and email in my contact list.
Is it possible to have my phone or the settings on my contact list or settings in my texting/messaging application set so that only mobile phones show up in the contact list when Im IN the texting application?
Even if there is a unique name I don't like having to select that person's cell number contact - as opposed to their email, fax, or home contact when I just want to send a quick text.
Is there a way to display a nickname in the contact list, say "mom." In order to get my Exchange, FB and Google contacts to merge, I had to use everyone's full name.It annoys me to see the complete name on my text threads, etc.

In the People app:-
You can choose which contacts you want displayed in your main contacts list, you can select from phone, facebook etc by ticking the boxes but after a day the phone always reverts back to displaying just the phone contacts. They're still linked to their facebook accounts so it's not a problem but still a bug.
Once you have a phone and facebook account linked you can choose the display name to be the entry in the phone contact or their facebook name. Again, after a day or so the phone forgets your preference.
If someone updates their facebook profile pic this doesn't filter into the People app. the only way to fix this at the moment is to delete your facebook account from the phone then set it up again. the phone still remembers the linked accounts though when you do this.
In the Browser:-
The phone always forgets your preference for having your bookmarks listed in any other order other than newest first.
I know it's supposed to as my hero did the same, so it might be a HTC sense thing. Just wondering if there's a way of stopping it from displaying my call history when I want to see my contacts? When I press the phone button, I want to call one of my contacts, not have to scroll down from my call logs! The call logs should have been on a seperate button on the bottom of the screen I think.

I have sprint, my phone is an Epic and i love it! however when sending even a simple text i select "new message" the "to" box comes up. i have to start typing in a name to get contacts with similar names to start coming up, which i then select. then i have to repeat for the next contact...i have had cheaper phones that have allowed me to select recipients from my contact list. i have a friend who has Verizon, but has the same andrion platform (i think its a fascinate) and when she clicks on the "to" box, she gets a drop down menu that includes the word "contacts", as well as "recent calls". she clicks on that and goes right down the list selecting recipients...this is standard on her phone, as she did not dwld an app to allow this...MY epic wont do this...can i change a setting or something.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've just got my Wildfire and I'm pretty much satisfied, there's one thing that bothers me though. When I press the "phone" button, the list of contacts appears with a keypad. Everything's fine except for the fact, that I have all my contacts doubled - it displays those from the phone memory as well as those from the sim card. Now - this does not apply to the regular "people" list. in its menu, you can tap "view" and select the items you want to see. so I unchecked "Sim" and "Google" contacts and all I have is a neat list of phone contacts. I cannot find any such option for the phone list. Yes, I could use the "contacts" list to find people but there's another problem - it does not offer this awesome filtering by keypad that is present in the "phone" list. I can only open the keypad and type exact parts of people's names using either standard input or t9. what happens in the "phone" list, is that it seeks for contacts already on basis of the keypad button you've pressed. for example, in order to type Tom using normal input, you have to press 8 6 6 6 6. In the 'phone' list you only have to press 8 and 6. all in all, the best thing would be to have both worlds combined. but the easiest way to solve my problem would be simply to disable SIM contacts from the regular phone list. Otherwise I'll have to delete them from my simcard, which is not the best solution.

Is there a way to make the contacts stored on the phone the ones that get displayed when calling or receiving a call without deleting the sim card contacts?

What is the efficient way to quickly lookup my local phone contacts database and "match" them based on their name. Since there are firstname, lastname and displayname this can vary.
What do you think, how can the best match be achieved?
Also how do I make sure I don't parse for each JSON item the whole database I want to avoide having JSON_COUNT x MOBILE COUNT steps
This will be my first smart phone. Thought I saw somewhere that there is an app that will be able to give me t9 texting and typing capabilities. If there is what do you guys suggest. Thanks for your time.
View 10 Replies View RelatedLately my phone has been freezing a LOT while texting. I'm using handcent. No fancy contact pictures, just simple iphone setup with black and white. I don't have a lot of apps on my phone, I have froyo, I don't have a lot of music on it, I mean.. I text a lot, but lately this slowdown has been pretty bad. Freezing every few minutes, locking up, having to lock the phone unlock it to work, sometimes having to reboot it.

I'm thinking that the DINC is responsible for that, and not her BB. Is there anyway to change that?
It really doesn't impact me much, but it's a bit impersonal at times. For someone like Tiger Woods, I can see that sorta being an issue.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have installed handcent on my DI, and I agree that it is better than the stock app. However, if I receive a new message, it opens in the stock app, and not Handcent. I have to manually start handcent to use it. How do I get handcent to be my default app for texting? I have searched through the settings and can't find anything that makes it the default app.

2...while texting it will sometimes not recognize the simplest words and come up with some crazy non word.

I am having inconsistent delivery of photos via text/mms.
I am using Handcent.
After the picture resizes and I click send I initially get a message in the notification bar telling me that it was Unable to Deliver - Retrying.
This happens EVERY time, however, in some cases the picture/mms seems to go through while other times it doesn't. I check the delivery reports and there is no confirmation that these mms messages either get delivered or not.
Has anyone experienced this and is there a solution? Using the settings, I've decreased the default picture size and I increased the allowable size of the file able to be delivered. This hasn't made a difference.
I'm new to the root scene, and have been messing around with different ROMs, but have noticed on two different ROMs (frankenrom & virtuous) that when I receive text messages, the time stamp on them is incorrect. My account was set up in Illinois, but I'm now in Delaware. When I send a text it stamps at Eastern time, however when I receive a text, it comes through at Central time. This causes my texts to become unorganized and I have to scroll up in stock messenger (prefer this over Handcent or chomp) to read my new message. Any ideas? It was fine before I flashed any ROMs but now its really bothering me.
