HTC Hero :: Standard Browser Much Slower Than Opera Mini Beta
Apr 8, 2010I'm finding that the standard browser is way slower when navigating than the Opera Mini beta.Same thing over wifi and mobile. We're talking about 30 seconds in standard browser compared to about 1 second in Opera.What's that about?Is everybody else finding the same thing? It's annoying that Opera isn't quite as complete as standard browser, coz otherwise I'd just use it all the time.

Aug 1, 2010When I fire up my web browser, Google is my home screen. Just below the search field my browser says "location unavailable update". When I click update it tries to acquire location but can't. I think I've tried everything to get it to locate my location. I've turned it on through google settings. I've turned on GPS on my phone. I've got nothing. I'm at a loss at how to enable this feature because I used to have it and liked it.

Oct 6, 2010I'm curious why anyone would use the Google Search box (and take up that home screen space) when all you have to do is press the magnifying glass for the same feature (and on any home screen, without having to scroll back to the widget). A long-press opens voice search, so I see no benefit in even using the widget at all.

Sep 14, 2010I got my DX almost two weeks ago, and immediately ordered the Motorola Car Dock. When you dock it, and it goes into car dock mode, it has a "My Location" button, which takes you to a google map with some overlayed buttons (some kind of skin, essentially). You can select "Nav" on that screen, but it does not take you to the Google Nav app, instead it opens up a dialog box, where you can enter your destination. Then it will work like Google Nav. It really stinks that if you return to the cardock home screen, to change your music or something, when you come back to the My Location> Nav, you will have to re-enter your destination.
Another huge frustration from the lack of integration with the Google Nav app, is when you use the standard Google Nav App (like set a destination, before you leave the house), and then get in the car and enter car dock mode, you can not access your current Nav through car dock mode. You can still get back to it, but you have to exit "car dock mode", and open the Google Nav App. Anyone have any solutions to this? If it were possible, the simplest thing would be to remove the "My Location" button and replace it with a shortcut to the Google Nav App. It does not appear that you can change any of the preset buttons. There is one button that you can set, but I have it set for Pandora, since I use it frequently.

Jun 19, 2010My wife and I both have Hero's and after the recent updates our phone takes forever to dial a number. It was bad before going to 2.1 but now it's terrible. It takes about 10 to 15 seconds to actually dial out. Any suggestions? We both have Google Voice but it dials slow regardless if we're using Google Voice or the standard dialer.

I tried downloading one similar to see if that would give me the break I'm looking for. But it must be the phone causing this because the downloaded tone did the same thing. HTC Incredible :: Launcher Pro - Using A Standard Clock Some Icons And Other Options
Aug 4, 2010I must say LP is kinda cool, gives you a different feel of the phone. Right now i'm only using one screen, and 1 dock (not multiple dock screens), but i guess i'm just trying to find out if this is actually any different than the normal senseUI. I see there are limited icons, and we can either use the LP icons, or the default icons, but maybe there is an expansion pack for LP that i'm not understanding? Also, what are you guys using as a clock. With LP, i can only add the analog clock, or other wigdet clocks i've downloaded, but can't load 10 clocks that came with the phone. I'm assuming those are senseUI clocks, and will not work with LP. Should i download clock widgets that will work with LP? Also, since i'm only using 1 screen, and 1 dock, and i really not utilizing LP to the max here ? I should be using the dock more, and using it for more applications to quickly pull up right? Does anyone have any advice on how to customize it a little bit to make the experience more enjoyable, or make it worth the while ?Also, battery life? Any difference? Is it the same? I have ATK that i run every once in a while to kill some buggy apps/games, I noticed that LP is running and taking up a good amount of resources, has anyone reported a really bad battery due to LP being installed?

May 19, 2010This folder includes screen shots that are used for Internet Browser bookmarks. It also includes screen shots of web pages that I did not choose to bookmark. When I clear cache while in "Internet" in "Manage Applications" it does not remove these jpg files that are not being used for bookmarks. When I clear everything while in Internet app (in settings) it does not remove these jpg files either. It also does not remove them from within the HistoryEraser app. The only way I can remove the jpg files is with Astro or when connected to PC. I have to go through them and erase jpgs that I do not want there.
There were 72 jpg files in that directory and they go all the way back to when I got phone (on 4/29). I have only added 5 bookmarks myself during that time. They do not take up a lot of space but I just don't want them there.
Android :: Log In To Google Account Without Browser?
Sep 3, 2009Im currently trying to combine android and google apps engine for a real neat application, not unlike http://3banana.com/. However I want to enable the user to login to his google account without opening the browser. I have made some attempts to just simulate the http-posts done, but to no avail. Are there any nice way of doing this google account login in android code? For example, to make my own loginscreen, and then send user/pass to the google apps server and get an aknowledgement if the login information was correct.

Some of these sites are Asian, and I know that others are known spyware sites.What the hell is this stuff? I've never been to any of these sites on my phone, and these aren't my favorites.I noticed this happening the day I bought my Droid Inc and before I installed any third-party apps. Could Google be behind this? Doubleclick is one of the sites that pops up on this thing too.

Aug 21, 2010I'm playing with a Droid Incredible my wife got from her company because I'm thinking of buying one.I do photography and I have a website.The images aren't huge maybe 600 x 800 pixels but that's bigger than the screen resolution of the Incredible so I can't view them on the built-in browser without panning around.A normal PC browser is smart enough to shrink the image to fit the browser window.Also, my wife's iPhone handles this with no problem. Aug 9, 2010Encountered a wierd issue with my Samsung Moment this weekend. I would click on my browser icon (Google is bookmarked as my home page) the google page would load, start "acquiring my location" and then automatically shut down my browser. So I went through the Sprint help desk for several hours with no answer and no fix. I changed my home page to something other than Google and now my browser seems to work just fine. But everytime I go to the google webpage, like I'm doing a google search it shuts down the browser. Flipping weird! Another heads up. if I use my Google searchwidget, it seems to work just fine.

Aug 5, 2010For the record, I have already restarted my phone several times, and even taken the battery out to be sure. Anyhow, I have upgraded to Froyo 2.2 and after that update, I updated my Dolphin Browser. I have Google as my homepage, and now, every single time I open Dolphin, and it goes to Google, I get a popup from Google saying it wants permission to know my location. I have made sure the green check mark is checked, that indicates it wants to remember this action. Yet every time I log on, it asks me for my location each and every time.
