HTC Incredible :: Extremely Hot Battery?
May 4, 2010
Tonight the back of my incredible got extremely hot. Almost to the point I could not touch it. I powered it down and let it cool off. Then powered back up. It has been ok since then. The last thing I did before it started to get hot was charge it in my truck. I use the vehicle charger that I had bought and used on my storm. Would this cause it to happen? I have been having a very short battery life. And have been trying to turn off several things to save on the battery with little help. But have been using it very heavily. So I figured it was par for the course. Am letting the battery good all the way dead tonight before charging.
As i type this I am getting ahead of the keyboard. This has not happend before. I hope the battery getting hot didnot damage something.

Has anyone noticed extremely fast battery drain while browsing the internet? I can use Facebook, play games, look at wikidroid, etc. and battery life seems "normal" but while using the browser it will use 10 percent in 10 minutes. I have timed it, I was at 60 percent, browsed the forums here for 10 minutes and was at 51 percent afterwards. Is this normal?
I am rooted and have 2.2, I have tried the stock browser and Dolphin HD and both do the same thing.

I have noticed that the battery meter on my captivate (SRE + lagfix installed) is very inaccurate. For instance, I got the low battery notification and plugged my phone in when it got to 8%. However, the second I plug my phone in the battery meter jumps to 34. I unplugged it and sure enough, the battery stayed at 34%. Anyone having this problem?

I don't really think it makes a difference, but I'm running CM6 with the stock kernel and using setCPU. Normally I have great battery life but sometimes my phone dies extremely quickly and it says that the dialer is using all the battery. Does anyone know what is happening and how I can prevent this?

After the 2.2 update, my battery has been starting to be extremely bad. I recharged it yesterday until it was 100% charged. Now, 18 hours later, the battery is at 15%.
I only used my HTC Desire to do this:
1. Listening to offline songs through Wimp, a Spotify-clone, for about an hour.
2. Texting 3-4 sms.
3. Doing 1 call.
4. Having it on while I was asleep.
My battery was usually lasting 3-4 days with this kind of use, but now it's so bad.
Here are the running apps (if that is of anyones interest):
com.fd.httpd - 2.9MB
net.rgruet.android.g3watchdog - 2.9MB
com.metago.astro - 2.8MB
com.aspiro.wamp - 10MB
com.lookout - 4.4MB
com.htc.bgp - 12MB
com.google.process.gapps - 7.6MB
com.facebook.katana - 14MB
com.swype.android.inputmethod - 15MB
Does anyone suffer from something similar?

Starting yesterday I noticed that my battery was draining faster than usual, the phone having died after being used for half the day, when it typically makes it the full day. Nothing was being used more or less, and all of the application managers and battery life charts indicated that everything was running as normal. Then this morning after having the phone charged for the entire night, it tells me that on the remaining battery life the phone will only last about 7 minutes, and the percentage is dropping rapidly (about a percent every 30 seconds) .

Only when the phone is plugged in to the computer is the screen really slow to respond and is usually inaccurate.I pretty much only use the "Charge Only" option when plugged in.There is no problem when plugged into the wall.

I updated to froyo with the manual link from android central. When ever I view flash video's the audio sounds like it's been slowed down 10x. The videos run at normal speeds but the audio speed is ridiculously slow and deep sounding.

This is the first time this has happened. Its not in direct sunlight or nothing. I touched my face with it and it was equal to me touching a car after its been sitting in the sun for hours. Hope everything is ok. Imma take the battery out for a while.

This is my first Android phone. I actually switched from Verizon to get it (something I never thought I'd do). So far it is absolutely awesome! Something that could make it more awesome, however, is to load it up with music and also get the test videos and pics I took off the phone to view on my PC.
That's where the problem lies. When I plug the phone into my PC (Win 7x64) and put the phone in disk mode it pops up and I can see everything that's on the phone. First I tried copying some music. It started copying at an abysmal 300-600 KB/s. It was going to take two hours to complete. I canceled it which subsequently froze Windows Explorer until I unplugged the phone from the USB port.
Next, I tried to copy the 40 MB video I took earlier. As soon as I click on the video (just select it, not open it) Explorer stops responding until I unplug the phone.
This doesn't make any sense. I realize I can remove the SD card and stick it in a card reader but that is a huge inconvenience since it is under the battery. Has anyone else had trouble with this?
I have tried three different PC's and multiple USB ports on each.

I tried searching for a thread and nothing came up. Forgive me if this has been addressed before.
So I recently moved to a place where I can get 4g pretty much everywhere I go, which is awesome. Unfortunately though, the Evo gets unbearably laggy when I use 4g, even after I turn it off. It can take up to 5 seconds for the screen to turn on. I tried doing a hard reset, and for a day or two the evo was back to it's glorious self...but that was short-lived.Any suggestions?

My battery life was bad, but it was OK, but in the past few days my battery life is 10% per 30minutes(Just over 5 hours on a charge).I used to get 8-10 hours on a charge.I noticed last week that while it was charging the status of the battery was "Overheat".I think I somehow cooked the battery?I use TaskKiller and kill 95% of apps automatically, I have bluetooth, wireless,GPS disabled and the screen dimmed.I have not changed or installed any new apps.I have not changed the way I use the phone at all.My battery was dead, 0%, and it charged to 95% in about 45 minutes. Is this even possible? In fact in the past two days I have not gotten the charge above 95% at all.

Lately, my browser seems to perform very slow: it loads pages extremely slow, and it reacts real slow - sometimes i need to wait around 10 seconds for the menu to popup, after pressing the menu key. i have galaxo 1.1. i just compared my galaxo 1.1 (on II5) to a friend's samsung galaxy with his unchanged firmware and rom (dont remember which version, but older than mine 4 sure). his browser performs much better, and the way i remember mine used to perform. i cleared the cache, reset to default, nothing seems to work.
even tried dolphin, no use...

I have noticed that if I ever turn my captivate off and then reboot it; it will take anywhere from 3-5 minutes for the Captivate to fully boot and become usable. Prior to then it is unbelievably laggy and if I even try to dial out it freezes.
I moved my 4gb of music from the internal SD card to the external SD card thinking that may make a difference but that did not solve the problem.

So lately my Eris has been running extremely slow. About a week ago I got a notification for "Internal memory is getting low." So after reading through several threads of the same topic and doing all the suggested actions (delete old text messages, uninstall unnecessary apps, clearing the cache for applications) my internal phone storage now says that there is 45.61 MB free. Yet, I still have not noticed any improvement in performance.
For example, I use Handcent to text message, and lately I have been unable to open it without it force closing every time. I've tried removing it as the default and using the native SMS program, but when I go to compose a new message it won't bring in any of my contacts when I go to select one. It just stays at a loading screen and then force closes. Also, it shows the phone number of an incoming text instead of the contact name as its stored in my phone book, so I pretty much have to guess who's number it is. Any thoughts on why it would do that? The dialer is just as bad, and since I don't have any of my friend's phone numbers memorized the phone is pretty much useless now and unable to perform the most basic of functions, using it to make calls.
I'm at my wit's end pretty much, the only other thing that I can think of is performing a factory reset. Does anyone have any alternative suggestions or experience as to whether a full reset actually helps?
My phone is not rooted. I know, I know. Rooting will improve performance, but it seems like a hassle to me and I'd rather not have to deal with it (at least not yet).

Got a new Eris here and am having an issue. When using wifi the signal strength is extremely low and only holds the signal for about 6 to 10 feet away. All the other phones work on this router and a friends router, so the issue is definitely the phone. is there any settings I could change that might help?

I don't know if it's just me, but my HTC Magic becomes very laggy after few minutes of use. Cleaning the Market and Navigator's cache and stopping all background tasks with TaskPanel Lite helps, but then after few minutes of use it becomes extremely laggy again. Don't know what to do.
Note: When I clear all the background tasks and cache, TaskPanel indicates that the phone available memory is from 20 -> 24mb (seems to be to few) but after some minutes of use it goes to 3 -> 5 mb of available memory.

So I'm running eris 2.1 v3, and I've had a overheating problem since I've taken the leap and stopped using a task killer. Now every single time i charge my phone, it will charge extremely slowly and overheat to as high as 133 degrees. I'm assuming that the problem is apps running after i believe I've closed them (closed by menu->close, or the back button until homescreen) but i thought that the apps end up closing themselves, am i doing something wrong?

I've been using my google I/O Evo for a few days now, and i've noticed that i'm having quite a bit of trouble hearing people talk during a call. My hearing is pretty average(I think?) and I'm holding the earpiece directly toward my ear. I've tried pressing the volume rocker to the max for high volume output, but callers sound extremely faint. I've never really had this issue with my past flip phones. Am I missing a volume control somewhere, or do you think i have a defective unit?

I successfully rooted my phone with Speedrabbit 1.7 (in like 5 minutes) then I did Recovery (which took hours cause I couldn't get it to load) and now I have removed a few of the unwanted apps Sweet right? Well, not so sweet, everything is moving extremely slow and there is an even bigger lag than before! Now this was happening before I removed apps so I know I didn't mess anything up there. I thought maybe removing them would perhaps speed things up but it didn't. Am I missing something? I AM running GDE, should I delete that? Just wandering what to do next to see my Moment have that WOW factor that everyone seems to say comes with root...

I am about to get my first Android phone. It is a Motorola Flipside (I am on a budget and I need a physical keyboard; hopefully, if you didn't hate me for posting a new thread you will not hate me for buying a Flipside). The phone comes with Eclair, but can be upgraded to Froyo. When I do this, I know that I will have less than 100MB of free space (could be as little as 60MB) on the internal hard drive, but I am not sure how much less, and I don't want to mess around with moving too much bloatware or rooting. In order to get the apps that I have preselected to all fit, I'm going to need to get them in a certain order. I should get the ones that I can move to SD first, and then get the ones that are not able to be moved.
I have heard that App 2 SD is a good program, although Froyo can probably do it on its own. Do I need App 2 SD?
I am wondering which of the following large-ish apps can be moved so that I don't need to install apps only to be forced to delete them because they cannot be moved:
1. Battleheart
2. Battleloot
3. Modern Conflict
4. Plague, Inc.

1. When I turn on my phone, the boot up with the Droid mascot and the HTC logo is extremely loud. Is there any way I can lower the volume on this? Does the Media volume control this?
2. Is there any way I can find out the ip address my phone is using when it is connected via wi-fi? I know you can set-up a static IP, but I'm just trying to see what my ip address is without using a static one.

This happens only when my G1 phone is on T-Mobile network: I found that when I try to go to the browser, and type the address:
http://i0.sinaimg.cn/
The browser tries to load the page, but no progress is shown for more than 2 minutes. (I have full 3G signal; all other addresses work just fine). Eventually when I tried to access this URL in my Java code, I found a similar long delay when I try to open the HttpUrlConnection, and eventually I get this exception:
I/InetAddress( 1940): Unknown host i0.sinaimg.cn, throwing UnknownHostException W/System.err( 1940): java.net.UnknownHostException: Host is unresolved: i0.sinaimg.cn:80 W/System.err( 1940): at java.net.Socket.connect(Socket.java:1002)
Why would DNS take so long? Also, if my program tries to issue the same HTTP request again, the same 2+ minute blocking happened. Is this an Android bug or a T-Mobile infrastructure bug? It seems the Android API should try to time-out faster, especially on the second attempt.
