HTC Incredible :: Decrease Unlock Pattern Attempts?
May 5, 2010
Is there any way to decrease the unlock pattern attempts before you need to insert your gmail account? I would like it to require my email/pass after about 5 wrongs attempts. Currently it took 15 times till it required a password.

I have forgotten my unlock pattern and was prompted an error message, "Too many pattern attempts"....to unlock, sign in with you Google Account. Here's the issue, I have tried to log in many times and it won't allow me. I have no issues logging into Gmail on my home computer. I changed my password on Gmail and re-logged on my cell and no success. I tried to do a hard reset holding home button, up volume, and pressing the power button until the Samsung logo appears. I also tried to call my phone and access the memo pad so at least I can get to my home screen.no success.Any suggestions? I think my phone has a bug and it probably needs to be sent out..

On my motorola droid and other andriod devices there is a known issue where if you enter too many incorrect pattern attempts it ask's for your google email/password but doesnt accept it. Even though its the correct password, the only fix is a hard reset. Is that bug still around on the incredible or has google fixed it?

Too many failed pattern attempts due to a friend attempting to get into my phone. I have forgotten my gmail login. I tried to send username to backup email address but I tried the only other 2 email addresses I have, only to recieve an email from google stating that an account didnt exist with these backup email addresses.
After fighting with sprint for 3 hours I came to find out they are unable to give me the info to the gmail account that THEY set up when I got my EVO. Apparently the only thing they can do is reset my phone causing me to loose all of my numbers, photos, ect

My 7 year old, 5year old & 3 & 1/2 year old are able to do terrible things to my phone & computers! I hope I am one of many frustrated & forlorn parents who have great kids that are obviously a rung or 3 up the evolutionary ladder! Perhaps we should start a support group! LMAO I am new to android & so far I love it, so much that you can do on this platform & as i am a lateral thinker it is so much fun being able to get apps that seem to allow my though processes & not miss a beat, what a delight. NOt too impressed with the pattern lock at the moment though but I am hopeful of finding a solution there or admiring my Very expensive paper weight that might have been so much fun!! I am currently very tentative about all the programming stuff but I guess in time & with help from all the learned folk out there I will be able to have the best & most productive tool completely customized for me that I could imagine. Do let me know if I am deluded as it would save me much heart ache, Hope to be educated well here so thanks in advance for your patience & assistance!

I'm searching for an app (or hack, or whatever) which allows me to do custom actions when there are too many incorrect unlocking attempts. For example, when 5 incorrect patterns are entered, get the location and send it to a remote web server. In my case, I would like to start Cerberus tracking, but that's not the main point.
Is there an app, or custom lock screen, or any security app that allows me to do this?

got my phone (htc desire x) locked again (yes, I am stupid sometimes ).First time it wasn't a big problem to me, just adb into it an set a pattern value to 0 an boom, lockscreen bypassed. Problem : since then, the androidversion got updated from 4.0 to 4.1 and it doesn't work any more.
My situation:
Bootloader locked.
Not rooted.
no custom recovery installed.
USB debugging enabled.
is it possible to bypass the Google lock screen on an android 4.1 device? Tried different funny things like pushing home button or calling myself, then some more komplex ways with adb commands and so on, but all of them lead me in the end to either a custom recovery or root.if there is a way to get a CR on an locked device? Or how to adb pull some files from the data section? And I read something about adb'ing into the device in recovery and removing the security settings, what about something like that? I don't want to steal anything, if I would like to steal the phone, I would just resetting it

The one thing that does not make sense is why do you have to do the unlock and then the draw pattern. Shouldn't the draw patter be enough? I tried the no lock widget but it turns of both the slider and the draw pattern. I just want the draw pattern.

Is there an option or app to disable the slide to unlock but keep the pattern lock (or PIN lock on Froyo)? It seems kind of redundant to have both slide and pattern unlocks. I have Android 2.2 and was hoping this would be "fixed" with the upgrade.

I've entered a wrong pattern too many times. The phone now asks for my gmail username and password. I tried to enter them, but it doesn't accept the credentials. They are certainly valid, I know because I logged in via web browser with the same name/pass and it works.

This is for an EVO but i'm thinking maybe it'll be similar to other android phones. what i'd to set up is to have the phone require the 'dot unlock pattern' after it's been sitting for 5 minutes idle. when i set it up with AutoLock, whenever the screen turns off after 1 minute, it'll rqeuire me to do the slide down to unlock which i don't want.

My daughter decided to try and get in my sons phone (Captivate) and ended up locking him out. The phone now says "Too Many Pattern Attempts" and is asking for his google user name and password but when he enters that information it says invalid user name or password. He knows that the google user name and password are correct as when he enters them in google mail on the computer it works fine. Any suggestions?

1) Is there way to find if the Android "unlock pattern screen" is ON/ OFF thru programming? My Aim is to send some messages from my application to a server thru network only when the user had unlocked this password kind of screen (device).
2) Is there any Android/Java class to generically find (query) if certain application window is currently on top like question 1? In other words, any Windows manager class to get some info/enumerate windows that are currently being displayed/being in use.

So I flashed 2.3.3 this morning, and tonight I was browsing through the settings and messing with different things. I ended up setting an unlock pattern (I never used it before) and completely forgot about it while browsing through my settings. Now I turn my phone on and blank out what pattern I used. I try what I think it is a few times and nothing.
I read that if you get it wrong 5 times it asks for you Google Login info, yet mine doesnt, it freezes then restarts.
So just a heads up if anyone is running 2.3.3 and using this, it sucks since Im probably gonna have to re flash it since I havent Nandroided yet since.

it's easy enough to turn on the unlock pattern security feature and it was fun to give it a try but now I'm just wondering - is there any way to turn it off?? I've tried searching and even in the user guide it says nothing about being able to disable it. If anyone knows how to do this/whether it is possible please let me know - only because I'm finding it kind of annoying now!

After some 10 days with my Desire, I am close to getting it 'just right'...
However, I would like to configure the phone to use only the hardware button and the lock pattern in order to use the phone, and bypass the 'slide down' process.
I have tried various permutations and addons but to no avail ...
So to recap:
1 - press upper hardware button
2 - enter lock pattern
