View 4 Replies View RelatedI am running Fresh 3.2 and have used both Toast and King's kernels. Both kernels have "volume boost" and I was wondering if 1) the boost was automatic 2) I need to set it somehow or 3) I need Toast or King's ROMs to access it.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI recently started experimenting with the Android kernel. I downloaded the 3.0.31 kernel (because I wasn't able to find the sources for my stock one: 3.0.31-889555) and built a kernel image (zImage) successfully.
I plan to use Heimdall github.com/Benjamin-Dobell/Heimdall to flash the kernel image on my phone (Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100) but before I do this I would like to download the current kernel image from my phone.
Since heimdall is capable to flash the current kernel image, I guess it's also capable of downloading the current, is it?
I'd like to download the android kernel completely. Can I know from where I can get the site to install the android kernel and also the complete source code of the emulator. Also from where can I get the patches of the git?

View 16 Replies View RelatedIs there a Kernel that allows us to charge like before 2.2? I tested the Inc with an ammeter on stock 2.2 and on SR 3.0 RC2 and both charge at only half the current we used to on 2.1. That is unacceptable and the reason a lot of people can't keep their phones charged while using GPS anymore. Surely there's a fix so far?
On a side note, any good kernel recommendations or a list where I can peruse our options and their features. Still running whatever kernel comes with SR 3.0 RC2.
Does anybody know if the new desktop kernel patch written by Mike Galbraith can be applied or modified to be used in the android kernel?

I have vanilla linux kernel version 2.6.27. I want to apply android specific patches and convert it to android linux kernel 2.6.27. Where can a user find the patches to convert a normal vanilla kernel into android kernel?
View 1 Replies View Relatedwhere I have got right now on my phone, which is:
1. I updated to stock 2.1 using the sprint update tool.
2. I followed the video tutorial to root the phone
3. then i used joey's page (http://www.joeyconway.com/sdx/custom/index.php) to install the his kernel (joeykrim-SDX-kernel v2.0.4 (includes root)).
I have done nothing else to the phone but this and removing a couple of bloatware apps (i checked the list of permitted deletions before i removed anything.) I have not installed a new recovery..at least i dont think that I did as part of one of the other operations I performed (as an aside, i am not really sure what the custom recovery is or what it is used for, so i didnt install it...i guess i need to read up more...)
So that is where I am..but i have a couple of questions.
1) i am now having issues with my wifi connection - the signal reception is very spotty in areas where i should have atleast 2 bars of reception, and the wifi often cuts out completely....Is there any know corellation between joey's kernel and this wifi issue? I have searched the forums and have found nothing that answers this.
2) Is there an easy way to get back to the stock kernel? I have read that i can get back to stock everything by using the sprint download center where I did my original 2.1 update. But is there a way to get back to just the stock kernel without wiping the phone?
What is the best/most stable overclock kernel for my Dinc. Im still running 2.1, dont plan on going to 2.2 yet. I have heard about hydrakernel but dont know which of the four from HERE to choose from.

View 3 Replies View RelatedSo, I've just installed the two Hyra kernels and after checking the "about phone" section, I see the undervolt kernel has been installed. Now I've got a couple of questions.. 1. How do I know the overclock kernel was also installed? 2. Are there any settings or anything I need to turn the kernel "on" or is it automatic?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have the latest version of Virtuous and the custom Rom from Rom Manager. Just wondering what's your favorite Kernel and why? Whats your battery life? Also, would I just leave the kernel I have on now and install a new on over it?

View 4 Replies View RelatedSo I was under the impression that you could use ROM manager or ClockWork mod to install a custom kernel that I had downloaded to my SDcard. I downloaded a low-volt, overclock kernel and I have discovered that I don't quite know to flash it to my phone.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo I rooted for the first time today, and tried to install Hydra Kernel's #1 & #3 kernels. The system seems completely stable with each kernel, except when I open the Camera app, the camera view is completely blank. Almost as if something was blocking the lens. Then when I try and take a photo, it locks up. I tried closing all apps, and restarting the camera, but this didn't work. Once I run a Nandroid restore prior to installing the kernels, the camera works fine.

Hydra Kernel Stock Undervolt
Radio 2.15.00.07.28
I tried installing all four but no luck, kept getting the same error.
last week i installed the leaked OTA and i really like it so i decided to stick with it. I have been debating for a while whether or not to root. Well today i finally took the plunge and had zero issues. Then i decided to install the 1.15 ghz OC Hydra Kernel and it is awesome, makes the phone really snappy. I havent seen any lag at all. Well the only issue i have found is my camera wont work. I open it and it is just a black screen. At first i do have my normal options, i can choose everything on the left slider and the zoom, flash buttons. Also i noticed the brightness gets turned up. But its like there is a lens cap on it. It does not display anything the lens is seeing. I tried rebooting and it still did the same thing. Is this possibly becuase i installed the leaked OTA first and the Kernel is not compatible? Has anyone else seen this?
View 5 Replies View RelatedAlright, I installed JagerRom 3.2 and I love it. Only problem I have is that there is no gmail app and I don't like the k-9 mail app. Is there any way to get the gmail app back Also, with a custom rom can I still install a hydra kernel? because the undervolted kernel would be nice to install.

View 7 Replies View RelatedAnybody have recommendations for a rom and kernel combo that would give some good battery life to our battery vampire of a phone?
I'm a heavy user, and I just think the incredible can be more efficient than it currently is.
I'm running the Skyraider 2.5.2 vanilla rom and King Kernel BFS #1.
The King Kernel is great when the phone is on standby, but when I am doing some web browsing or more, it drains the battery very fast.
I've also tried the Hydra Kernel stock speed undervolt. That seemed to give moderately better battery life than the regular .32 kernel.
I don't care about overclocking, 1ghz is plenty fast for me.
I have not really noticed any real improvement in battery life using the undervolted hydra kernel. Am I doing something wrong, or has anybody else noticed this?
View 16 Replies View RelatedIf I install hydra kernel does it remove all my apps and stuff or does it just update the kernel? Would love to have an undervolted, overclocked kernel.
