HTC Incredible :: Where Is Browser Download Folder?
May 18, 2010
I do not own an Incredible, but I am a developer trying to support it.Can someone tell me the following. On the HTC Incredible, when you don't have an sdcard in, where does the browser download files to? Possibly /emmc/something/ ? Does this location change when you add an sdcard?On most android phones, the browser downloads to /sdcard/download/, but I since the Incredible has a lot of internal storage and doesn't come with an sdcard by default, I think the location is probably on /emmc. But,I need to what folder.

i have a galaxy note 3 since a few days and I have some questions regarding this device or Android in general.
First, I am wondering about how to change the download folder of the chrome browser. I can't find the option to change it.
Second, I'm a bit confused about two sd cards shown in my "es datei explorer". There is a "sd card" and a "extsd card" which I suppose to be the real card. What's the first one?

Did you ever have music files without tags ? (for example ripped from your CDs)Did you ever add some music in a "new music" folder in your memory card, without knowing exactly all the artist / albums?Do you know the "unknown artist" who sings the "Track 01", even if your file name is correct?

I have downloaded a picture attachment from my Gmail that is an 'unwanted picture' which I opened when I went to Gallery/Download folder.It is currently the default preview picture now for the Download folder. I've already deleted this picture from the Download folder, but anytime I download a new picture attachment, it still uses the 'unwanted' pic as the folder preview.I've even tried manually deleting the Download folder using AstroFile Manager.Everything I've tried doesn't seem to work.I desperately need help because currently I'm not able to download any picture from my Gmail account without that stupid picture showing up as the preview for the Download folder.

After doing a phone reset back to stock, (Galaxy Nexus 4.0.4) I copied back all my previous saved items from the "Downloads" folder (I had copied the Downloads folder to my PC) and copied them back to the phone.
Now when I open the "Downloads" app it doesn't show anything there. I had documents, pdfs, jpeg, etc.
NEW downloads from market, etc do appear, but nothing else. How do I get the system to refresh the contents of that folder? I've tried Settings, Media, Clear, but that doesn't do anything.
It's almost as if the phone recognizes timestamps of the day of the refresh, but anything earlier is not recognized.

my testers on Droids and Nexus Ones (Android 2.0.1 and 2.1) were complaining that their downloads are failing. Since I don't have an 2.0 phone, I tried it out in a 2.0 emulator, and lo-and-behold, it didn't work. The download shows the indeterminate progress for a second or two, then shows "Download unsuccessful".
Based on what I see in the logs, it is apparent that the server is returning a 404 for the download request from 2.0 browsers. I can download to my desktop and 1.6 phone no problem. The only reason I can think of that the server would return a 404 for a request is that for some reason the credentials or cookies aren't being passed by the download process. Logcat shows: http error 404 for download x.......

I was looking for a better browser and for my money Dolphin is the best one. But I can't download anything! I've tried pdf, mp3, and gif all from different sites and every time it just says "download unsuccessful." I've managed to download the same files using the built in browser but I can't seem to get dolphin to work.

I am trying to stream video (or use progressive download) to a Motorola Droid Browser and am not having a lot of luck. With my iPhone, I can direct Safari to http://xxx.xxx.xxx/FileName.mp4 (which is an MPEG-4 video file) and Safari opens quicktime and the video plays. However, with the Droid, I go to the same web address and am faced with a error stating "Cannot play video. Sorry, this video is not valid for streaming to this device".
When I direct the Droid's browser to a WMV file, it will fully download the video file and then play it in what appears to be the Droid video player if I click on it. Ideally, I'd like to replicate the behavior of the iPhone on the Droid, where the video player pops up and the video starts before the complete download. Video format isn't an issue, as I can encode the video to pretty much any standard. I was trying the .mp4 file because the Droid documentation says that it supports MPEG-4 video, although I can't get it to work from the browser.

In Android, I am trying to make it so that the user downloads a font from the browser and I am able to view the font when downloaded. After multiple issues, I still have one lingering one: Registering the file type with the browser. When trying to download with the Emulator (2.1-u1), I get "Cannot download. The content is not supported on this phone". Okay, so maybe its my manifest file. Updated with this:
<activity android:name=".MainActivity" android:label="MainActivity">
<intent-filter> <action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN"/>
<category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER"/>
<catagory android:name="android.intent.category.BROWSABLE"/>
<data android:scheme="http"/> <data android:scheme="https"/>
<data android:scheme="ftp"/> <data android:host="*"/>
<data android:mimeType="*/*"/> <data android:pathPattern=".*zip"/>
</intent-filter> </activity>
Went back to the browser, and fails again. Restart the Emulator, still fails. Note that I got this format from posts here.

Is there a faster way to delete the Download History on Android phones; instead of having to click each and every item in the history? Every thread I find dealing with deleting the Download History, has to do with deleting the normal browser history, not the Download History.
So is there an easier way? Because I just spent 10 minutes deleting each and every item in my Download History and there has to be an easier way of doing this.

Why can't I download a ZIP via HTTP post through the stock browser?
The problem is mostly described in the following article: [URL] .....
Basically I am currently working on an ASP.NET application that bundles bunch of files into a zip and pushes it back to the client via the response output stream.
Now this works fine in Firefox and in the ICS 4.0 stock browser, but doesn't work on the clients Galaxy Tab running Honeycomb 3.0. What happens is it appears to download the html of the page instead.

With the newest Dolphin Browser update there is a key feature missing.
Normally if there is a link, in my case a podcast, and if you long press the link it pops up with a menu and one of the options is to "save link" which is basically the same as right clicking on a PC and saving the target as.

I am using APP Inventor, but it put my question as general from Android. How can i directly download a file from WEB without the browser try to open it.
I i put a url like: privatesite.blablabla/image.jpg
He will put the image in the browser, because browser can load the file and show it on screen, but i want to download it without reading it.
I need that to put inside App inventor, but if it's possible to do it in HTML or other, that's ok, i think i can make app inventor run an external application.

This folder includes screen shots that are used for Internet Browser bookmarks. It also includes screen shots of web pages that I did not choose to bookmark. When I clear cache while in "Internet" in "Manage Applications" it does not remove these jpg files that are not being used for bookmarks. When I clear everything while in Internet app (in settings) it does not remove these jpg files either. It also does not remove them from within the HistoryEraser app. The only way I can remove the jpg files is with Astro or when connected to PC. I have to go through them and erase jpgs that I do not want there.
There were 72 jpg files in that directory and they go all the way back to when I got phone (on 4/29). I have only added 5 bookmarks myself during that time. They do not take up a lot of space but I just don't want them there.
