May 4, 2010Has it always been "Slide down to answer call"? I could have sworn that I used to have two buttons, answer and decline....did I change a setting somewhere?

View 4 RepliesI got the Moto Droid yesterday and love it.I was just wondering if there was a way to change the slide to answer a call to where you just have to press. It's not that big of a deal I would just rather press rather than have to slide
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhy do I have a "Slide" to either answer or not answer every Phone Call? The problem is that it only started doing this when I just turned the phone off and back on. I have had the phone since release and it has never done this before. Does anyone have any idea how to disable this slide to answer or reject feature. I don't want it.
View 4 Replies View RelatedThis has happened a couple of times: I have the phone in my pocket and it's screen is locked, I get a call and the slide to unlock screen is there, but nothing will work for me to answer the call. No sliding in any direction will work, if I press a button it just sends the call away. I end up having to call them back.
View 20 Replies View RelatedI heart my Incredible, and I hope this was just a weird one time glitch.I saw a missed call from my boss, so I tried to call back.The call connected, but I couldn't hear her and she couldn't hear me.Tried several more times, tried another number, etc.Each time, call goes through, but no sound on either end.So I draw upon my Blackberry habits, and pull the battery.Phone boots up, I make a call, and everything is working fine.Any ideas what happened?It worked last night, and the only thing I've done since then is install Handcent.could that have caused an issue? Or is there a setting I've inadvertently changed that got reset when I pulled the battery out?
View 5 Replies View RelatedCurrently, if the phone is locked and you receive an incoming call, you have to swipe down to answer it. For whatever reason this happens in my pocket at times.Is there a setting or an app that adds a swipe pattern, removes the swipe and maps it to a button, or any other method that would make it harder for my pocket to achieve?
View 12 Replies View RelatedIs anyone using or aware of an alternative way to answer calls? The 'swipe down' mechanism doesn't work well for me since I often end up inadvertently hanging up while taking the phone out of my pocket. I think the Droid/Nexus One had answering screens that let you swipe sideways. Is there such an app available for the Inc?
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo, the slide to answer / decline "feature" on my EVO is driving me crazy. I keep the phone in my pocket. When I go to answer it, it will generally auto answer or auto decline a phone a call. Is there a replacement screen for this? I'm rooted, so I could go with a different ROM if needs be? Or a mod or something? I've seen other people talk about it - but with no resolution.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI got my phone back late oct, and i use it unrooted, all the time, I can make calls very simply. with minor lag here and there. But anytime my phone is asleep, and i try to answer any incoming call, either Google voice or direct, I can't slide the screen to answer. and none of the buttons do anything and the call goes missed.
it's really annoying. my wife has the same phone and hers eloquently answers calls. after a few moments, the display changes to show the call is missed. and i can operate the phone again - usually with the dismay of having to call the person back, at the same time while they are leaving voicemail - NOT being able to answer the phone when it rings is really kinda a critical problem for me. Anyone familiar with this issue, and would like to take a stab at helping me fix it. I'm willing to wipe and restore to defaults just to make it work right.
Recently I've noticed that I accidentally answer phone calls without realizing it while the phone is in my pocket.Callers then hear the rustling of my phone rubbing the inside of my pocket.I've read that when the Droid X's screen is off, I should have to slide to answer a phone call.However, even when my screen is off and the slide to unlock and pin number lock are active,I am still presented with two buttons when I get an incoming call.This happens regardless of whether people call my regular phone number or my Google Voice number.I have LauncherPro installed.Am I missing something?I'd like to have the slide to answer feature so I don't unknowingly answer phone calls.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have to call back about one out of 3 callers because when I try to slide the answer button, something goes wrong and the screen to answer disappears without answering the phone. the phone continues to ring, but I can't answer it.
1) Is there an app to change the answering options?
2) is there a way to get the slide screen back so I can answer?
Is there an application to change the ability to slide to answer? For some reason a lot of times ill go to answer a call and have to end up sliding multiple times for it to answer. If there were an app to change this screen somehow, I'd be all over it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAnother Evo issue: at times, when the phone is locked, screen won't accept the slide down (to answer) or up (to decline) ringing phone.
View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen my phone is on for a while, the screen times out (Screen Time Out - depending upon settings). If I hit the red button on the right, the screen lights up, but I'm not yet at the Scene pages. I have to "Slide down" to get to main scene desktop. If I have my Security set to require a pattern, I will have to enter a pattern. For purposes of this question - assume there is No Security Pattern set. Hence, the slide down goes directly to the Scene desktop.
Screen Timeout
Menu --> Settings --> Sound & Display --> Screen Timeout -->
Various options including:
* 15-seconds
* 30-seconds
* 1 minute
* 2 minutes
* 10 minutes
* Never Timeout
If I set the Screen Timeout to 1 minute, it'll go dim, and when I hit the red button, it will require the Slide Down to get to the Scene Desktop. If I set the Screen Timeout to "Never timeout", it'll never go dim, but this will use more battery power. Once the Screen is Timed Out, it requires the Slide-Down feature to get to the desktop. When receiving an incoming call, the Slide-Down feature is required to answer the call when the phone is Timed Out.
Question
Is it possible to avoid this Slide Down altogether? It seems the only way to do this is to set the Menu --> Settings --> Sound & Display --> Screen Timeout --> Never timeout
I don't want to use "Never timeout" because this will use more battery power.I find it annoying when I receive an incoming call, if the screen is Timed Out, I am required to use the Slide Down menu to answer the call. Problem is, the moment I do this, it answers the call. There is no: Answer / Decline option available unless the screen is in non-Timed Out mode. I want to be able to answer my phone and completely avoid having to deal with this Slide-Down feature when answering incoming calls. I don't even see the picture of the person in my contact until I slide this down. It would be nice if I could avoid the Slide-down altogether. I would like to have it set such that when the phone rings, I can get immediately to the Answer / Decline option.
Hey I have a motorola cliq and everytime someone calls, I have to slide to answer. Well everytime I try to slide it doesn't answer at all. Any suggestions to help?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am currently using xtrROM 4.2 and like many - am SICK of pocket answering my Eris. (I know this happens regardless of rooting). Is there a way of completely disabling the slide unlock to answer the phone? Using the Green to answer, Red to deny works perfectly well. I want it like an "olden-days" dumb phone. Is it at all possible to modify/flash the ROM to render the screen inactive for this? Most threads point to unlocker apps, but I'm trying to avoid them.
View 1 Replies View RelatedOn my previous phone it had a "full lock" feature on it that when a text message or phone call came in it would show all stars on the screen and require my password before you could answer the call or view the text message does the hero have that option or is there an app I can download?
I tried the pattern lock thing it has but if a call comes through or a text message comes through it still allows you to answer and/or view the message without entering the lock pattern..
i want to build an app that will answer a call in a different way from the standard way on android ( slide)
can i bypass the native way of answering a call ?
Does anybody know whether it would be possible to configure the Evo (or add an app) to answer an incoming call by shaking the phone? For example, a down-up chopping motion? This would help when answering the phone with gloves, because it has no physical buttons.

Vringo and other apps does answer the phone by pressing a button on their app, so there must be a way to do it.
Anyone has a suggestion?
How to mod CM7 , GB.......?
Menu button answers call
Back button ends call
Is it possible to change the answer call lockscreen from the original slide down bar? I am using the vanilla lockscreen but I still get the HTC lockscreen when answering calls and this causes these calls to be answered/rejected when I take my phone out of my pocket.
View 9 Replies View RelatedSo the other day i got a call and i pulled the phone out of my pocket and tried to slide to answer and nothing happned. I tried to slide it to drop the call and nothing happened. I then mashed a bunch of buttons in frustration and think i rebooted my phone. It did it again to me today, though after about 10 seconds it finally allowed me to answer the phone. I have weatherbug going without GPS as that killed the battery, also have pocket empires going today.

I am looking for a lockscreen replacement that most importantly gives the option to answer calls without using the slidey swipey thingy. Maybe just a answer call button. I have tried goto - that was cool, but still had the swipe to answer. Also i tried screen suite, but that thing didn't replace the home lock screen for some reason. Can you sugget any others you might be using or know of?
View 15 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if anyone else has this problem and if there is a work around. Often I will get a call and the screen is locked up and I can't answer the incoming call. I have the same problem with the regular slide to answer screen or now using No Lock. I think it has to do with my hands being sweaty or damp since it is mostly when I'm working out doing hard work. On my palm pre I could slide open the keyboard to answer a call if this happened. Is there an alternative hardware button that will answer a call? Or, maybe an app that would change the power button answer a call instead of ignoring a call.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there any easy way to answer a call? I just got my first android (4.2) phone and find it a complicated procedure to answer calls.
When I get an incoming call I get a white phone symbol which I have to press and hold to get the red and green phone symbols to appear and to answer a call the timing has to be exact as if I release the white phone symbol before I have started the slide to answer it fails and I find it about impossible to reject a call with this method.
I thought there might be some setting to alter this like the lock screen but can't find anything.
