HTC Incredible :: Remove News App In Mass Manually / Prevent Old Ones From Collecting?
Sep 4, 2010
I really like the new News app that came with Froyo, but I've noticed that whenever you update the news feeds, the old stories remain. Has anyone found a way to remove them in mass manually or prevent the old ones from collecting?

I've tried ShadowRom and CM6 and love both but it's far too buggy for me right now. On SR I would have 5-6 reboots a day which I can't bear. With CM6 it's down to 1-2 reboots a day but sometimes my phone will completely cut off and not reboot at all and I won't know that it's off until I go to wake it up. I also have had voicemails and missed calls that I haven't been notified of and the missed calls won't even show up in the call log later. I only know they are missed when friends tell me they called me three times in a row with no answer. Lastly the battery life is killing me on CM6. I've never drained my 2150 battery before and everybody for the past week I've had CM6 the battery had died with display as the main cause. So I've finally decided I just need to go back to Stock 2.2 and install LauncherPro. So my question is, I know how to remove some of the crapware but what other things can I remove that are Sense related from the stock rom that won't compromise the phone in any way but that will make it run faster and smoother? Is there a tutorial for this somewhere?

The only problem is when it reroutes. It takes about 30 seconds to get to the point where it will talk, then it will reroute itself and just mess up. I know this is pretty dumb, but is there anyways to prevent rerouting manually?

Has anybody figured out how to "delete all" news articles in the sense 2.2 news widget? The articles just keep piling up and the only way I can find to delete them is one at a time, which is very time consuming.

Had my DX for just over a week. I have been using the built in news widget and it I actually like the interface. However when I view "all articles" unread or not it lists everything it has pulled down. There are currently 500+ items in the "all articles" and I cant seem to delete. how to remove items i have read already or at least if they will be truncated somehow.

I have trimmed a few mp3s to be used as ringtones.. But I've unintentionally made a lot more copies than I need, and now they all show up in the ringtones select list.
Where are they stored? Can I remove them manually?

So i just got the phone today and i love it, but my facebook friends got added to my contacts and I'd rather not have them there. Is there a way to remove them other than manually deleting them one by one?

On the Market web page, I can see how many copies of my apps have been installed. But, this only shows the current total. If I want to see historical trends, I need to check the page daily and record the numbers myself -- an annoyance at best. Is this info available anywhere on the Market site? If not, has anyone written a screen-scraping utility (or equivalent) that can harvest the data into a spreadsheet?

I have a few iphone and andriod apps and would like to collect better and more targeted user feedback for them. The feedback from the App stores is pretty generic and doesn't add much value at most times. Any framework or website that I could use to help here? Kind of like Get Satisfaction for Mobile Apps.

When i first fired up the wildfire it had the news widget on the homescreen ready to go on BBC news. I liked the fact it automatically refreshed the news every so often. Now it has stopped working via the widget. I have tried removing and reinstalling the news widget but the widget just hangs on the message 'loading news'. I can still refresh the news headlines by going into the app but it seems an unnecessary hassle when it used to do this automatically. Why and how to fix this? The phone settings all lok okay.

I found this apk from another site so If anybody wants a nexus one weather/news widget I attached it here. It works with the Incredible. You just need to put the apk in the sd card, download AndExplorer from the market and install it.

I'm hoping someone might have a suggestion for how to port the News and Weather Widget from stock 2.1 do the Incredible. I had it on my Moto Droid (now the wife's phone), and I really prefer it to the HTC Flip-clock. I like how unobtrusive it is.

I've been using the new HTC News app that came with 2.2. There is no settings option to set a limit on the number of stories. Refreshing the stories just keeps adding them on, but it appears you have to erase them manually, which seems pretty bad given there are over 200 stories and growing on mine right now. Have I got this right?

So I did unrevoked yesterday, found the update today, and manually upgraded to Froyo but in my excitement I forgot to unroot. Is that bad? I mean the phone works though lags and that's why I wanted to remove the bloatware but seems when I go to recovery I get a triangle exclamation point - so what do I do?
