HTC Incredible :: How Much Memory Space Do Others Have Left

Curious how space people have used. I have 380mb free in phone memory on the Inc.
On Sunday I started getting the message "Low on space Phone Storage space is getting low." on the status bar. When I tap it, I'm taken to the "Manage Applications" screen, so it's clear that the message refers to the "Phone Memory," where apps are stored But when I go to Settings > SD card & phone storage here's what I see:
SD Card Total Space: 14.83GB
SD Card Available Space: 6.15GB
Internal Phone Storage Total Space: 6.60GB
Internal Phone Storage Available Space: 6.51GB
Phone Memory Total Space: 748MB
Phone Memory Available Space: 332MB
I've googled looking for solutions and it's obvious that this is a fairly common problem - especially on HTC phones. But the only possible solutions I've found are:
Too many apps are installed & space really is running low
A "bad" app was recently installed causing this error
Clear the cache for HTC Mail and HTC Message apps
Perform a Factory Reset We can rule this out since there is more than 44% of the Phone Memory available.
I didn't install any apps immediately before getting the message, but to be sure I uninstalled the 10 most recently added apps. No luck.
I've gone to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications, but the cache for these apps is already zero. The "Data" for Mail is 2.22MB and for Messages is 812KB.
This isn't fixing the problem, it's just a way to eliminate whatever condition has caused the symptom. But without an explanation of the actual problem I see no reason to think the problem won't come back in another two months.
Today I went to install google earth to m phone. It would complete the download and kept telling me I dont have sufficient storage.I'm thinking there is no way I could have used 8 gigs of internal memory already, so I go to phone storage and see that I have 6.38 GB of internal storage left. So how is it that a 22mb download wont download?
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo, I'm trying to update a 40MB app (SVOX US English Female Voice - Android app on AppBrain), but my phone is telling me "Sorry, there's not enough space to install this item.". Could someone explain to me why I'm seeing this if the following is true? Phone looking at to decide that I do not have enough space? Looking at that information, I have plenty of space everywhere!
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an HTC incredible and a ton of free memory (579MB to be exact) but still getting this low space message.
I've cleared the browser cache and I've also removed some apps but the error is still there and I can't delete any new apps.
When I enter the android kernel console, I type : cat 3.bmp > dev/graphics/fb0 error! write: No space left on device
After this, there is nothing showed on my lcd.
Could someone tell me what does this error message mean and how to solve please??

While on holiday my HTC Desire starting reporting that it was running out of space. It could never figure exactly what was taking up the space unfortunately, but I assume one of my apps was using a stupid amount of data.
Anyway on the last day of my holiday the phone refused to boot at all. It shows the HTC screen, then the carriers custom splash screen (T-Mobile), then reboots and goes back to the HTC screen in an endless loop.
I booted the device into the recovery console and received the following errors:
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command
E:Error in DATA:data/recovery/log
(No Space left on device)
I'm aware that I could do a factory reset, but I don't really want to lose all of my apps, scenes and other data if I can possibly help it.
I found one site where a guy claimed to have been able to fix the problem by connecting to the device using adb and then deleting some files, but I can't get adb to recognise the phone. 'adb devices' always returns nothing.
So, can anyone tell me how to get my phone (which won't boot into anything other than fastboot and recovery) to connect to adb so I can wipe some files? Will the phone have to be rooted to do this? (It isn't).
Do I have any other options other than a factory reset?
How can i have ran out of space?. i went to go update my apps and theres no space left it says? to begin with i dont even have that many apps and i have also moved some to my sd card. so what else can be taking up space on the actual phone itself?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIm totally new to the smartphone/android topic and very happy that i managed to partition/debrand/root my Desire and flashed LeDroids Rom on it! ^^ ( im a windows XP user )But i have some questions about my partition and filesystem: I have a 4 GB SDCARD and a 512MB Partition on it for the apps. So i figured out there is a mnt folder that seems to be like an exact copy of my SDCARD folder.
How do i know what my partition is ?
And how do i know how much space is left there for Apps?
When i plug in my Phone via micro usb and browse my SD card i dont see a MNT folder. Does that mean the MNT folder is the main partition (3,5bg?) ? Because when i download a youtube video via jetVD (i was prompted to use a download folder on my SDCARD) it saves the videos under: mntsdcardmovies (also my player shows the path to that directory)but the movie files are also available under: sdcardmovies
Could somebody explain that. btw: i use the app SUFBS to browse the SDCARD on my Desire.
[GUIDE] How to Root Sprint 2.1 Release for CDMA Hero - xda-developers i am using the above instructions to root. i got to the super permissions and went to flash the recovery image <step 9> and i get this error on my command prompt: error writing recovery: no space left on device# i have stopped and am not going any further. i got the superpermissions app and i clicked allow on the next prompt. idk what to do from here.
View 7 Replies View Relatedi got the nexus 4. I dont know why everytime i update or install an app and when completed, i got a popup in front bottom that says internal storagespace left: 2gb, 3gb..

Even though I have a 100gb of free space.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am trying to edit the hosts file to access rest services in my local network. Using adb pull I am able to get the hosts file for the emulator and edit it. However I get the error "No space left on device" when I do an adb push.
Does anyone know how to resolve this issue? Can we increase the space for /system? If so how? Are there any other easier ways to access local area network (without creating a DNS server).
Just wondering, really. I have 157MB left, but I like to have minimal apps! I only get the ones I know I'm going to use alot.
View 7 Replies View RelatedJust curious, but my phone is saying I have 9-13% of RAM left. Yet I have only downloaded maybe 12 apps. Any ideas or suggestions, anyone else have similar issues. I have cleared as many caches as I can find. Thanks in advance for any input.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI flashed velocity .3 on my wifes ally, and she only has about 30mb free memory left after only about 20 or so apps. She keeps getting notifications about not having enough memory. Is this rom that heavy?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI've just decided to tell my Exchange active sync to pull ALL my mail down (not just the last 3 days or whatever).
Now I don't know what my available memory looked like before I did this, but i've now got 115MB left on the phone.
Is that going to cause me problems?
Is there any way of undoing the exchange full sync, short of deleting the account and starting again?
Yesterday I had 70 Mb of internal memory left, today it's only 55! I haven't installed any apps, and even if I have, not 15 Mb!
So where's the memory being used up? I have seen that if you go into a contact's card, you are able to see his facebook photos in one of the tabs. These are downloaded to the internal memory then?
Does android automatically clear these things?
There any way to do a full Nandroid Backup on my Galaxy S3 with low memory left on SD card as well as internal? Roughly only 1gb available on each of them.

So recently I have had my EVO tell me that I am running out of disk space (Internally), so is there an App or a way I can view my internal files and delete them off. I know I can use the Market to delete Apps and I can use the stock Froyo Manage Applications to remove Apps, but I feel that files I download to my phone are going to my internal memory rather then my SD memory. all the help!
View 8 Replies View RelatedNoob that's had the EVO just a couple weeks and used it to take pics mostly. Got the storage space warning so I offloaded all the pics to my laptop but phone still showing storage space warning and internal memory shows 24.00KB No apps have been installed yet, stock Sprint EVO phone. I'm getting 3 email accounts to the phone and the memory shows email is at 336 megs. Is that what is swamping the memory on this phone? I turned off the emails but the phone won't let me delete all the emails now, I get an error or email has stopped and have to force close the app.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHowever after getting a bunch of apps from the android market i am getting a warning saying my internal memory card is getting full.when I check under settings, i still have about 20mb left. At what size do i start getting this warning? Its it possible to save apps onto the sd card instead of the internal memory? Also is there a size limit for the number of text messages, i starting getting warning messages for those as well.
View 1 Replies View RelatedJust got myself a desire (unlocked and unbranded). I check today for updates and a message came on the screen saying the 2.2 update was available. I only have 36MB of space left on the phone (installed quite a few apps)yet the update is a massive 91MB. Will I need to uninstall apps to install the update?
View 20 Replies View RelatedI am using a Desire. Was wondering why is there such a low space in the phone memory? I cannot hold more than 5 applications and the phone says i am running low on space...Is there any specific files I can delete without damaging my operating system?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with my Android phone. I already select an option to install apps into SD card but each installed apps still consume some free space in internal memory. Example: an app size 20 would take 2-5mb in internal memory. Unfortunately, my internal memory is only 222mb.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a list view that display about 25 images with size 60x60 pixels. I dowload this images from internet and I store in an arraylist as Bitmap. I need to save it in a arraylist because a listview will recycle views and so I need, wenn the user scroll, to display the image in the new view WITHOUT downloading again from internet
But after some time I got
java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: bitmap size exceeds VM budget
It seams that I got this exception about after loading 20 images ...
Reading in forum I have read about memory heap.
I try to check the memory heap usage with: Debug.getNativeHeapAllocatedSize and Debug.getNativeHeapSize()
When the exception occours both are about 4M.
But android has more than 4M?
When the application start the values are a little less to 4M so it seams is not a big memory usage or memory leak.
To be sure I want to call : ActivityManager.getMemoryClass() but this method is and instance method and I can't find the object to invoke!
But this method say, that al min should an application have 16M!
Any help? I have seen many topics in google ... but all speak about recycle. But if I recycle a bitmat ... then should I download again from internet?
Should I store the image on flash memory or sd card instead an arraylist in memory?
Low on space icon is up top the phone but I have a 16gb sd and says 15,268mb available but phone memory only 12mb available. Why isn't phone using the SD or do I have to enable something to make it use the card.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter fighting the silent bug for a while - I asked for a replacement that I received today. (The box said "Like-new Certified".) It came with 2.1, PCD: 06/28/2010, So I did not do Factory reset. I synced with google, I got all my contacts, with icons, e-mails and calendar back.
I reinstalled googe voice, AK notepad and swype beta.
Most important difference: The Available space (memory) is 131Mb now, whereas on the old phone it was 91 Mb. It seems I have one more bars, but I could be mistaken. (I wish I wrote down what I had before...) How do I check for the 50% bug? I will keep an eye of the silent bug shows up.
1) After install application, message appear " low memory space" my question is why is to so...how to install application and save to sd card.
2) How to change a song for incoming call and sms using a music. because original song in the phone is so bored.
