HTC Incredible :: Easiest Way To Remove Crapware?
Sep 9, 2010
So my phone is running 2.2 and is rooted. I'm a bit of a newb when it comes to this; what's the simplest way to remove the crapware, now that I can. Is there an app, or is it a more messy hands-on process? Either way, I can't wait to flush VZnav and City ID down the toilet they clawed their way out.

My phone is currently rooted and it was done using unrEVOked. I did not apply any custom ROMS; the only change I made was moving the Amazon and VZ Navigator apps. I selected the option to reboot and install the update when I was prompted to do so, but it just became stuck at a screen that said "Rebooting..." and it never changed. I powered it off and then back on, but the update never applied. I have not been prompted to install the update since then. I would like to apply the November update using the easiest method. If I have to unroot it, I don't care because root access isn't that important to me. I have read these instructions, but they're incomplete as they don't show you how to actually perform the steps listed, specifically step #1

ihtfp69 released a patch for his Sense and Vanilla ROMs on his Twitter a few days ago to disable these updates. Just flash the zip folder in recovery and you're set! Works perfectly. Here's the link: http://twitter.com/#!/skyraider37/status/4495189380956160

Does anyone know if it's safe to uninstall AT&T apps using titanium backup? Under the backup/restore tab if you tap an application it gives you the option to delete the app. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything before I went and started deleting stuff.

I'm interested in getting an android based phone but so many carriers put their own layer on top of android: weird proprietary interfaces, apps that can't be deleted, possibly crippled features.Which phone/carrier has the least modifications from a pure android experience?

I went to best buy to exchange my evo cause of some minor issues. It had the new ota update installed so I thought it was a pain in the butt to root it. So I got the new evo and I checked the software number and I have 1.32.651.6. Is it easier to update this phone to the new ota and use the simple root method over in xda or do it manually using the 1.32.651.6?

I'm looking for advice on the simplest and easiest way to root. I know theres something that wipes the phone, rolls back to 2.1 and then roots it. I just got my second eEo because my first overheats. It came with 2.2, is that an issue? What do I need to know about ROMs? I hear fresh evo is a good one. I don't mind losing all the sprint stuff as well as HTC. I prefer launcher pro so any widget loss doesn't bother me. I heard about the method to rollback 2.2, root it then whatever, but everywhere I found today from that day says that a simpler method should be out in a couple weeks. It has been a month, is there a simple point and click method yet?

So I have an iPod and, as such, all of my music is in iTunes. But I'm wondering what the easiest way to transfer music to my Evo is. When I connected my phone to my desktop and looked around in the Music folder, I noticed that all the sample songs were organized as such:
SD Card>Music>Name of Artist>Name of Song
Now, if iTunes organized all it's music that way, this would be as simple as ctrl+c and ctrl+v. But it doesn't. It's all like:
Music>Artist>Album>Song
The Evo doesn't recognize songs organized that way. So, without making new folders for every artist and copy pasting each song into them, what's the easiest way to transfer music to the phone?
Sorry, didn't realize I was in the Support and Troubleshooting forum. I guess it still kinda fits, though.

have leak #3 and I got the OTA update a few days ago.I would like to go to ROOT.using EvilEris 3.0 I'm seeing all sorts of ways to do this..and looking for the simpilist fastest way.I'm familiar with the "put a file in the root of the SD card" and re-boot method. Is that the easiest way to get going? If so - what file do I need? "EvilEris3.0.zip" or "PB00IMG.zip" (and if so - do I need a "latest" one)?

I have an application A and a application B that both have an activity. Now i want to send Data from activity A1 to activity B1 and back. Whats the easiest way to to dis? I tried to use Remote Service via AIDL, but this doesn't work very well in both directions because I only can pass the primitives data types and not every object i like (ok i would have to implement parceable but this is not really practicle). Then i read this post by Dianne Hackborn.

This is probably pretty basic, but the only way I see that I can activate voice dial from the N1 is to touch the micophone button (top right on the home screen). The problem I'm having is the button is too small. When I'm driving, I have to concentrate too hard to find the little micophone button in the top right corner to activate voice dial. I realize I can create a shortcut with direct dial, but don't want too many buttons clogging up my home screen.
Surely there is any easier way to activate voice dial. Anyone know?

Well, upon attempting to read as much as possible before taking the plunge, I've run across a few methods to accomplish the same thing. I'm currently running 2.1 OTA(stock) and wanted the most basic way to root with the least chance of bricking.
I've gone through the guides, but have also run into DroidMod's guide on flashing 2.1 with recovery.
RSD is a little intimidating to me and I'm afraid if I breathe wrong on the phone, it will become a paperweight.
Is using RSD the only/easiest way to gain root? Sorry for the redundant question, however there are a few threads on this topic and dated within a few months of one another and I'm which route to take.

Just plucked up the courage to root my Desire. And now want to have a go at installing Froyo and looking for the easiest way. I've looked at ROM Manager and was wondering if its worth getting the paid version as it says you can get all the popular ROMs downloaded to your phone. Was wondering how good this app is and if anyone has had problems with getting the ROMs.

If this has been asked I cannot find it. What is the easiest, quickest method for root right now? There seems to be a new method being developed every week. I know there are basebands available to load that will help with the signal issues. Are there fixes with root that will resolve the audio issue with Pandora?
