Recently I noticed that my contact icons in the messaging app have disappeared and just changed into the regular "no contact picture" icon. The contact pictures are still intact in my contacts and call log though. I tried handcent, but the pictures are missing there too.
Anyone have any ideas?

Since I started installing custom ROMs on my Desire, the contact pictures have been missing in the HTC Messages app. They show up fine everywhere else, just in Messages I see the default grey contact icon all the time.I initially thought it could be a bug specific to one of the ROMs I installed but it's happened with AdamG's 'official' Froyo Sense ROM and Paul's MCR Custom ROM r5 which I'm currently running (actually, I've installed 2 slightly different 'bakes' of this and the problem is there in both).I've tried asking about this on XDA and MoDaCo in the relevant ROM threads but not had any luck. Just wondered if anyone had any idea at all what could be causing this and how to fix it, or at least find out why it's happening.As I said, its literally just in the Messages app that it's happening - everywhere else contact pics show up just fine.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an issue where someone in my favorites group of contacts and is not showing up when I got to "People" and select "ALL".This is the second time this has happened to me and the only way I know how to fix it is to delete the contact and then add them back. Anybody else run into this isssue and know a better way to fix it?I'm on stock 2.2 but this happened in stock 2.1 also.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am on Virtuous 2.6 ROM and noticed a curious thing going on with my contact images. I have used Handcent since day one with my Incredible and about a week ago the contact images stopped showing for my most often used texting contacts. I have found that new contacts that text me, or some that havent texted much have images showing, but my family (most used) don't. I have tried everything I can think of. I don't think it is the ROM, I have uninstalled Handcent, deleted cache, reinstalled, deleted all conversations, and even tried Chomp....same results.

I notice that when I try to compose an sms message, the contact search list contains ALL of my contacts (phone + Google). This is super annoying, as I literally have thousands of Google contacts and some people have numerous accounts, so it's incredibly difficult to sort through and is honestly the first thing I have seen the phone start to choke on. The 'People' widget has a 'View' setting that allows me to limit by just phone contacts, but I can't seem to find any sort of filter in the search when I'm composing a message. I can type each name individually and select, but having a big list would be nice. Again, I'd like to be able to select message recipients from a list containing only phone contacts.

So if they have a work, home and mobile it also gives me the ability to send messages to all 3 of those numbers, why? If I send a text I only want it going to their mobile....is everyones contacts set up like this?

I've read that it just doesn't work for some towns but does the auto-location not work either? What format do you use for the UK location? Town, county, country ?

Not showing icons/images on website unless I deleted the cache/history/restart the phone. I also lost pinch to zoom until I restarted the phone. It has done the icon thing twice. A couple of minutes ago, it restarted itself. I'm concerned but so far it's not enough to justify a trip to the store. I would return it and get another one but the store would charge me $35.

View 2 Replies View RelatedOk I've got a lot of contacts without photos, when putting them in a favorite widget they all look the same. In my old Palm Century I could assign not just pictures, but Icons to people from various icon packs... there by making each person distinguished.
I wondered if anyone saw such an app for Android, or knows of a collection of basic HeadShot graphics I can use as JPEGs and throw on the SD card.
I can do this myself if I really want to hunt down an icon pack and extract everything.. but figured I'd ask if someone's seen something like this already first.
Its not a huge issue but its a little annoying because it made it easier to see which one was which in the thread. The contact icon is missing once you go into messaging but its visible everywhere else: people, widgets etc. The contact even has a local contact picture that is different from the facebook one and its still not showing up.
If I unlink the contact from everything else its displays the local contact icon but I like having them linked to facebook. Once I link them back again its blank.
Its a google contact synced with facebook and the icon is coming from facebook. Its a rooted Evo on the most recent stock ROM.
I'm trying to customize the contact icons in the app 'Folder Organizer' and seem to be having trouble. Is it even possible to create contact icons in that app? I don't want to see the default blue & white icons, but either the Facebook icons in my address book or simply ones I choose myself.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm setting up my wife's Samsung Intercept. Installed Juice Defender, Handcent, and free version of Launcher Pro. So far everything is working well. She wants a very quick way to access calling/texting her favorites. Is there a Contact Manger program that could have individual icons for each person that I could place on an empty home screen? So, wouldn't have to open the app, just go to the home screen where there would be multiple favorite people icons. I wonder if Launcher Pro Plus has this feature? I'm going to try Contapps as this looks like it might work. Not sure if I have to first open the app and then select favorites. She's trying to minimize the number of hits before dialing/texting.

But the contacts when added as a google contact only show up under "all contacts" in google and not on the phone itself.
At first, I worked around this by logging into google to manually switch the contacts to "my contacts" and it then showed up on the phone.
Now, I figured out that when adding the contact on the phone, I have to choose "null" as a group label for the contact to show up on the phone.
Hope someone can help me out with this one.I can't seem to get Handcent to display contact pictures. it did show the ones with Facebook contacts, but I rebooted my Hero, and selected 'fix uid mismatches' which I read would fix this, and now it doesn't show any pictures.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI need help finding the right email app.The default one is horrible. The problem I am having is that it doesn't differentiate new emails from old. Every time I open the inbox in any of my email accounts, it always shows all emails as new. I don't know which one's I read or not. It's not bad if it takes me directly to the email, but when I have emails for multiple inboxes, I don't know which ones have the new email. I called tmobile tech support and was told that unless I delete the read emails from the server, the phone will keep reloading them as new. On my old phone, the messages I read where marked as read and stayed that way. When I got a new email, it was clear which one it was because it was highlighted.
Also, I've just switched to the g1 from a business phone, so I'm really new to this still. The couple things that I would like to figure out how to do is, first, I would like to know how I can search my contacts both by name or business. I've transfered the contact info from outlook to the g1 and so I have both name and business information. However, when I search using the keyboard, I can only search by name. If I put in the name of the company, it doesn't show up. Also, is it possible to have both shown. On my old phone when searched for either the person name or business name, the result showed both. For example, if I searched for lauren or Unico, it would show up as Lauren with Unico below it. Also, this way if I have more than one lauren, I can distinguish between them without having to click through each one.
Secondly, is it possible to set up "speed dial" function. Basically, if I pull up the dialer and press 2 for like 2 seconds it will. Third, I used to have my phone setup that I would have what ever my next appointment was, it would show on the home screen. Is that possible with this phone. Is it possible to allocate certain space on the home screen to preview upcoming appointments.
This has been going on for a week or two. GMail keeps loosing connection and I have messages in my outbox that still show sending. They haven't been sent. I checked my email account on the web.
View 3 Replies View RelatedEver since I got my phone (January of this year) my contact icons will disappear randomly. I think it has to do with the facebook sync because all the other icons that I took pictures for are fine. My "People" list is just messed up in general - the update status shows up under the wrong contact icon, it never loads properly, really laggy, and the contacts who are facebook linked randomly show up and disappear. My phone is completely optimized for speed and performance. Its been almost one year and I still cant figure it out.
View 4 Replies View RelatedEvery time I try to add a contact icon (from a saved image on my phone), my Magic saves a low-resolution version of the crop I make.
When I dial the contact, the picture looks HORRIBLE (it seems like the resolution is about 50x50px or something). I tried making contact icons from photos made with the phone or from high-res images that I transferred from my PC, but the outcome is always the same: the resolution of the icon is too small.
Is there a way to solve this problem? There's no point having a low-res image in a high-resolution image placeholder.
I woke up to find I had received a text message on my Galaxy S. So, I looked in the notification bar and it said the message was from my brother. I opened my 'Messages' inbox by clicking the Messages icon. At the top of the screen it showed that the message was from my mate Doug, not my brother. So, I opened the actual message by selecting it from my message inbox and it showed that it was actually from my mate Charlie
View 4 Replies View Relatedcould not locate an important phone number which I personally entered on her Gmail contacts on her desktop. I checked her 4G contacts (view contacts boxes are all checked) and that specific contact is still missing while showing up on her desktop contacts. Out of curiousity, we checked both of our phones. Just from A-C alone, she is missing 23 contacts and I am missing 41 contacts. The contacts are there on our desktop contacts, but not on the 4G. I feel guilty since I was the one who talked her into changing from Blackberry. Her Head Nurse warned that she will have no tolerance for screw ups due to android phones. Apparently, she has same issues before with one of her RNs.

The issue I have is that my sister has our home number listed on her Facebook profile as a contact number. I have linked this profile to her contact.
I have also set up 'Home' as a person on the phone. But when the home number calls me, it shows it as being my sister calling rather than home.
Is there anyway to remove the home number from my sister's contact details without de-syncing her Facebook profile?
