HTC Incredible :: Bluetooth Audio Distortion (Crackles)?
May 10, 2010
I am experiencing audio distortion (crackling crackle) when using my HTC Incredible paired with my car stereo via bluetooth. Slacker is most distorted. So I tried Pandora with the High Audio Quality setting, but am still experiencing distortion especially with songs that have a lot of bass. I just installed last.fm and will be testing that out.
Just as a side note I did a brief test with some mp3s copied to my phone and they seemed to play distortion free.
I tried lowering the volume on the phone.
I tried messing with the car stereo equalizer.
I love the phone but this really puts a damper on things because this is one of the main things I want to use the phone for. I really hope this is only a software issue.

Anyone else struggling with the thump of a kick drum distorting through external speakers regardless of volume? And I swear I hear it distorting through my bluetooth headphones too.Every time a heavy kick drum comes it I hear a sound that's reminiscent of a blown speaker cone. A sort of muffled flapping. It's not the speakers or the cable. It's the phone. Tested in multiple places. Had the issue with 1.5, and now still having it with 2.1.

I'm attaching a picture I just took in low light. Basically the image looks fine on the OLED screen *until* I focus and then snap the photo. When I focus, the image is overlaid with a bunch of lines which distort the image and these are visible in the saved photo. I notice that this happens in low light nearly all the time, and also in medium light pretty often. Today I took photos outside on an overcast day and it was doing this as well. Is there something wrong with the camera and/or software? Anyone else experience this type of problem?

I just got a 2011 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport. One of the features it has is hands free calling with controls built in to the steering wheel. Another feature is bluetooth streaming audio. One of the first things I did when the car finally came in was to pair through the stereo so I could listen to pandora without having to use the AUX jack.To use the hands free phone system, there seems to be a separate pairing process activated through the steering wheel controls. It mostly walks you through the process, but once it gets to the actual process of pairing it continually says "searching..." until it times out. This is all slightly frustrating as the audio part seemed to work without a hitch. Even more frustrating, I've gotten responses from subaru forums saying that people with the EVO 4G didn't seem to have an issue getting either to work.
One thing I will note is that the icon next to the entry for the car in my bluetooth paired device listing appears to just be the earphones. When I plug in headphones with a microphone, I get an icon that reflects that. Here are the things I'm going to try next:start over and pair the phone first delete entry on my DINC for my jawbone headset (probably won't need that anymore anyways)

I can't figure it out. At first I thought I had a blown speaker (specifically the front left speaker) because it makes popping/cracking noises VERY bad when playing music. After some experimentation, however, I found that it's only when using Pandora. If I play music from my phone off last.fm or internal memory, or non-phone sources like my other MP3 player or FM radio, there is no crackling no matter how loud I go (and for reference it happens more noticeably at low volumes, I can crank it up and drown out the popping mostly).
What gives? If I listen to pandora with headphones there is almost no problem, although on some songs I can kinda-sorta hear the popping.
I'm using the motorola droid if it's relevant (although I don't think that has anything to do with the problem).

Am trying to play music on HTC Magic via bluetooth over the car stereo. I am able to control the phone's music player via the car stereo but no sound. Call control works fine over the car stereo via bluetooth. I have tried my wife's Nokia and it plays music with sound via the bluetooth over the car stereo. I have checked and HTC Magic does show the bluetooth is connected with phone and music.

I can't seem to get my Desire to stream audio on my Parrot MK600 car hands free kit. It pairs and connects, I can make calls over the hands free and it downloads the contact but when I play music from the stock Music app it still comes out over the handset.

let me start out by saying that I totally expected this to flop, and not even come close to working.I have a Kenwood DNX6140 installed in my car.So on the way home tonight for some reason I decided to try an experiment.I live in southern california. I ran the A-Online-Radio app, and searched for a radio station I loved in Rochester, NY when I was going to school there. Low and behold, it shows up in the list. So, I turn on the bluetooth on the phone, and connect to the kenwood. I switch the kenwood to the bluetooth input, it says "connected to Droid" (didn't even expect to get this far lol), and hit play on the A-Online-Radio.
And poof, the audio starts playing through the kenwood and out my car speakers. That is so freaking awesome, I still can't believe it.The last time I was able to do this was with my VZ XV6700. I would use internet explorer on the WM device, and connect to the web page, and start the streaming, which would come out of the phones speakers. Then I'd connect an FM transmitter to the phone, so I could hear it on the stereo in the car. That sucked, was a pain in the butt, but it worked.

Has anyone else starting experience issues with bluetooth audio since the 2.2 firmware update? I have never had any issues with the bluetooth audio connection with Microsoft Sync in my car but since the update I can't get through a track without drops all over the place. I am forced to connect via the audio cable; then everything is fine. Like I said, I very occasional hiccup before the update; now it is all the time.

I have a weird issue with my Desire and my Ford Mondeo Bluetooth audio system. The Phone bonds with the car audio system no problem, receives calls etc., exactly as expected - and after a recent (unexpected), update to my cars radio firmware I can use the bluetooth audio feature which controls my media player in the handset from the steering wheel controls! No problems, Except! Even when I'm not using the bluetooth audio feature - i.e. listening to the cars radio or ipod etc., the audio from the desire still gets routed to the car audio system, effectively muting the phone. So when I use the navigation within the phone I get no audible routing directions, even if I switch the cars radio to play the bluetooth audio I still can't really hear the navigation because the inbuilt htc audio player refuses to stop playing (the car keeps unpausing the device). It would be nice to disable the bluetooth audio and leave only the phone connection but can't seem to figure out if that's even possible.

I have a Plantronics Voyager 510 (LOVE IT!!) and I can only seem to get the phone to send calls through to it. It works perfect, but how can I send audio from the Music Player or from when I am playing a movie? Do I need an App to do it or is there a setting that I am missing somewhere? I am using the Samsung Moment with 2.1

I met a problem of bluetooth headset. I want to switch audio playing to bluetooth headset when bluetooth headset is paired. I found BluetoothDevice in android sources which can control bluetooth. However it is not contained in android.jar. So I used AudioManager.setBluetoothScoOn(true)
But it still can't work.

I'm wondering what the current state of streaming online audio through bluetooth stereo is, post cupcake. I think the consensus is that it's not currently possible, but I feel like it should be. In fact, it does ALMOST work. Using StreamFurious or Dizzler, it will start to play and stutter a few seconds, then cut out totally. I can hear a song begin to play, but the audio is choppy and then goes out. So, bluetooth seems to be making, but not maintaining a connection to the audio stream. How to remedy this? I want my streaming SOMAFM.COM.

I recently aquired a HTC Desire froom T-Mobile UK and one of the first things i did was to pair the headset with phone. All went well up to the point of using it to liten to music and video(a2dp), alas that did not work.
Making phone calls work, and strangely enough controling playback of media via the headset (avrcp), but no other audio routed through the headset. I tried a second a2dp headset and it was the same issue. They work perfectly on my other phones for years, the Desire is the first to have this problem.
- So could it be T-Mobile or HTC forgot/screwed-up the a2dp profile?
- Do i have a faulty handset? everything works well.
- Am I doing something wrong somewhere? I went throught the user guide a few times just to be sure.

I've got a conundrum that I can't seem to work out from Googling. I suppose I will give the background then my question.
I use my xperia z2 tablet at the gym to watch TV shows because the treadmill is even more uninteresting than the landscape around my place. I don't like to be hooked up to it via headphones because I don't want to accidentally pull it over. So - I use a bluetooth audio receiver I plug my headphones into, and they receive the audio from the tablet (which is paired with the receiver).
I would prefer to just use my phone in place of the receiver, because the receiver is cheap and doesn't work so well (and i cant believe it can't be done).
I thought two options could be:
1 using the phone as a bluetooth receiver, or
2 somehow using the wifi hotspot on the phone to enable the audio from the tablet to play through the phone.
Does something already exist or is it even possible?

I've just bought a great Bluetooth Speaker to use with my Nexus 4 and it works great. Because it was fairly cheap I went and got another in the hopes that I could connect both speakers to my N4 and output audio simultaneously to both speakers at the same time. I quickly discovered this isn't currently "working" or even possible.
After a lot of Googling, I found an app on the Play store that supposedly let me connect both at the same time but it doesn't output audio to both speakers (I get "static" from the second one). There are also conflicting opinions about whether this is even possible with the current Bluetooth spec although it does mention multicast support and all I could find are various workarounds that involved using a secondary bluetooth transmitter etc.
Any software/hack (root needed or otherwise) that would allow configuring audio to be streamed/output to two connected bluetooth speakers simultaneously? Others have suggested it for use with bluetooth headsets.

how can I route audio to bluetooth ear when a bluetooth ear piece is paired? I have set my audio manager to be MODE_IN_CALL. audioManager.setMode(AudioManager.MODE_IN_CALL); I am not sure if that apply to my case, since it refers to some deprecated methods. Plus, doesn't android detects if there bluetooth ear piece is paired and routed to ear piece on phone or bluetooth ear piece automatically?

How is Bluetooth audio quality with your Evo? I'm using a Jabra Extreme earpiece and am experiencing poor audio quality. One person with whom I was speaking said that I sounded like I was running or was in a windy location (I was calling from a quiet hotel room). On my end there was noticeable static. As a test, I hung up and paired the Jabra with my Blackberry 8830, and the person with whom I was speaking said that I sounded a little distant, but otherwise clear. On my end, the audio quality was good.

Just taken delivery of a UK edition Samsung Galaxy S. Connecting it to my car audio via bluetooth no problems but it drops the 3G/H network connection as soon as it connects to the car. Disconnect the Bluetooth and I get the data connection back. Is this deliberate or a bug? It means I can't receive emails etc whilst in my car unless I turn off Bluetooth.

I got myself a bluetooth FM transmitter for my work van and tested it out today. For receiving and making calls it worked fine with the audio coming out through the car's speakers. But if I play music or my navigation the audio is coming out through the phones speaker (the one on the back) rather than through the cars speakers. I don't know what setting I've got wrong.

My X10i has really low audio volume when using my bluetooth headset. The same headset when paired with my old trusty Sony Ericsson K610i worked fine. I have also tried with a Sony Ericsson Elm and that was ok. Is there anyway to increase the volume on the X10i? Any SW patches, apps or tweaks?

I really struggle when using my phone with my bluetooth headset as the audio level is so much lower than all my previous Sony Ericsson phones. I have made sure all the volume levels are at max on the X10 itself, and on the headset itself, but still the audio level is very low. The transmitted audio is fine, and the person I am speaking to never has a problem hearing me, but I really struggle to hear them. Is this a known problem that Sony Ericsson are aware of? Are there any fixes I can apply? I have downloaded a number of different volume apps from the market place, but not found any that seem to be able to increase the volume.
