HTC Incredible :: Best Buy - Credit For Porting Your Number
Apr 28, 2010
I thought I read this somewhere but cannot find it now, it could have been a dream too. But I thought I read that if you did the pre-order on the Incredible with Best Buy, and then ported your number to Verizon when you picked it up, you would get $50 off the cost of the phone that day. Since I cannot find this, it is starting to look like the SMART30 promo code on VZW's site would be better since you get $30 off the price.

It's been a day and a half since we brought home our Epic and the number is still porting over from Verizon. I've called sprint twice and they said they couldn't do anything. When I ported my number to my Evo from ATT, it only took like 10 minutes.
Anyone having issues like that?

My girlfriend is getting a smartphone from work, and wanted to get rid of her personal line. She wants to port her personal number to Google Voice, so that she doesn't have to tell everyone her work number. Will porting automatically cancel that line from AT&T or should she call first? If she ported the number and for whatever reason decided she wanted to use it for a personal line again, could she port that number back back to a carrier?
Also, does Google Voice work the same on iPhone?

Not really a "problem" per se, but an annoyance.I ported my number across to Orange from Voda but in the Phone Status the MSISDN field is still displaying the old number. It's not that I can't remember my number (it's a memorable no. which is why I wanted to keep it), but it's annoying me as I can't seem to get this field to reflect the change.I've tried rebooting it after leaving the SIM out but no difference. Is this just a "bug" or is it something Orange will have to fix/update for me by sending a request to my SIM or something?

I've experienced two problems with Google Voice that are causing me to get charged minutes I wouldn't usually get charged. If I can't solve them, I'll have to go back to using my Verizon number. First, let me say that I'm using a new Google Voice number that isn't Verizon cell phone number or any other preexisting number. Second, my girlfriend is on my family plan, but she doesn't have GV yet. We're using the 700-minute plan, so we don't have a friends circle.
Problem 1: When I call my girlfriend's Verizon wireless phone using the GV on my Verizon phone, I get charged, and when she calls my GV number on my Verizon Wireless phone from her Verizon wireless phone, she gets charged. We don't cash in on our free in-network calling. I know, this should have been obvious, but it just never occurred to me until after I looked at the bill. I'd be able to work with that, though, and just select "Call without using Google Voice" or whatever when calling her if it weren't for the second problem. When people call my Google Voice number, I get charged when I don't answer. Usually, it's just a one-minute charge, but sometimes it's two or three minutes (don't know why). With anything less than an unlimited plan, minutes count. Not good.

I received a letter from Verizon a month ago offering me an extra $50 credit for my NE2 upgrade to make a total of $150 - the catch was the offer expired April 15. Right then I knew the Incredible would be released after 4/15!
My question is - is there any hope of convincing vzw online sales or a store to extend the expiration date of the credit? I asked one online sales person and they said "no we can't do that for an online sale, but call a store, and they might be able to". So I called a store and they said "no when it comes in we won't be able to do that, but maybe online sales can". So is this a futile attempt? Should I wait until they are in stores on 4/29 and go in and talk to a manager? Or give up and pre-order now?

I'm selling my house, and my old phone number (which is still active), is on the advertisment signs and MLS. So, I'm going to keep paying my bill month to month for that account until I sell the house.
However, I'd rather not carry around 2 different phones. I did not port my number to my new service as my old number was not "local" to where I live now.
So, I have service with T-mobile and now Verizon with two different numbers. Can I set-up something where anyone who calls my T-mobile number, will ring through to my my Verizon phone/number?

Reviewing your credit score is taking longer than expected. As part of processing your credit application, one of our representatives will contact you for additional information required to complete your order. Based on your credit history, a refundable service deposit may be required to activate your phone.

Just got off with CS chat where I expressed my displeasure in the 4 1/2 hour wait I had in order to purchase and activate my Evo. I asked for a service credit and they offered to credit me the $18 activation fee and associated sales tax.

I'm not a great mobile phone user and until recently used to get by with an old Nokia pay-as-you go. My iPod Touch recently got stolen, so I was looking for a replacement and thought if I got myself an Android phone (although I had no experience with Android), I could still listen to music and even have a camera, whilst having less in my pocket.
So I bought myself a Vodaphone 845 pay-as-you-go running Android 2.1 the other day and popped my old SIM card in it. The day after I bought the phone, it started beeping at me at regular intervals because it was sending me lots of text messages telling me all my credit was gone. I topped it up with € 10 wondering why I suddenly had no more credit - although there was not much in the first place. To be on the safe side, I turned off a couple of running applications and checked the credit again at the end of the day to find that it had not been reduced.
That night I turned the phone off, but when I turned it back on again, I noticed that the credit was steadily going down. This time I can't seem to stop it. I also discovered that all the services/applications I previously turned off were now running again after the phone had been rebooted.
I can't say I understand the technology (yet), but I assume something in/on the phone is trying to call home (via the SIM card?). But what? I have now also turned off the WiFi and the location finding settings, but the credit is still going down.
The applications I have installed so far ar Market, Google Navigator, and My Tracks.

I'm sure most people knew this but what with the premium add on charge of $10, I wanted to be sure. Since I am going through a refi on my mortgage, I didn't want another credit check. Sprint confirmed for me, in writing, that a new check is not required if you are going through an upgrade...only at "original" activation.

I'm having a very frustrating problem with my phone. I've been noticing a large number of random reboots lately. It primarily happens while I'm listing to music through my bluetooth headphones or my car stereo (connected via bluetooth). When the phone restarts it can't start the bluetooth and I get a force close of a system process. I have to pull the battery and cold boot it to get bluetooth back. Bad hardware?

This is my first Android phone after owning WinMobile phones for the last 5 years or so. Experiencing a frustrating issue with dialing phone numbers from my address book or Exchange GAL that contain extensions - typically preceeded by an "X" or "ext" or "-". Android ignores these delimeters and simply appends the extension to the main number, which then gets interpreted as an international number and the first 3 digits are assumed to be the country code. This renders all phone numbers with extensions unusable. Since I don't have edit capabilities of my company's GAL I can't just go make changes. What character are people using to separate extensions from the main number?

As a Droid Incredible owner I must that the Droid 2 screen is VERY sharp and makes mine look soft. My wife is very happy with the phone and the battery is impressive. I got her the desk dock tonight and she loves it too. Would I trade my phone for it? No, I'm waiting for a 4g Windows Phone 7 device with front facing camera to show up on vzw.

"Credit card" is greyed out so all I can do is hit "Cancel" and go back round in the circle. This is the first time I've tried to buy an app.Can anyone tell me what to do next ? I've tried to help myself but a good hour going round the Android and Google troubleshooters and whatever else they are called has been unsuccessful.
