I'm looking for something like the ASTRO processes manager that shows the current %CPU usage for every app running on the system. The only problem with ASTRO is that it doesn't sort by CPU usage so I have to scroll up and down looking at the % to see what is taking up CPU. A simple app that shows this information sorted by current CPU (like the top command in unix) would be great.

Is there a process manager or task viewer for android that shows how much CPU percentage each process or even each thread in a process takes up?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy idle cpu usage seems a little high and sporadic and I'd like to force them all to 0% when idle but still be able to receive background data like for instance my play store seems to use a continuous idle usage and a few others. I can freeze them with the System Tuner but I'd prefer to Globally force all apps to 0% usage so I'm getting say 1% usage at idle on occasion every hour or few hours? When I use System Monitor, I see my cpu usage kind of jumping from 0 to up to 35-40% while idling and I don't want these apps using any resources at idle. I'm trying to extend battery life a lot more.
My battery life is really good already since I have a 3600mah battery but I could get even better if I can dial in the usage at idle.
Is there application that can do that?
On another note, I can't seem to figure out why my Google Calendar won't open a "New Event" it just sits on the Loading... Screen
I'm running into this problem with skype and score mobile. Every time I start my phone up, their widget processes are running in the background, but when I go into the options of these programs, there are no options to turn them off. How do I prevent these widget processes from running all the time?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI don't use task killers or any nonsense like that, but I keep OS Monitor running so I can see if my CPU is running when it shouldn't be. While opening OS monitor and looking at my processes I noticed last night that there were like 6 flicker processes. They weren't currently using any cpu or anything, but why are there 6? And now today I noticed there are 2 running. (after re-start / battery charge)
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo lately, I've been converting some videos to mp4 so that I can watch during my travels. I'm just using the generic player and access my video files through "Photo" I sorted the files by Name, but when i go to Photo to view my videos i realise the Videos are not sorted. So it doesn't go in number like 1,2,3, instead it's a jumble. Is there a way I can sort this? Also why does it do this?

I've never used any media player software to sort or tag my music ever. I have something like 10Gigs of fairly well encoded stuff and the collection grows over time, this time last year there was probably 8Gigs in the pile.
All my music is sorted by folders and in those folders they are usually named by track number, ie:
01. Astonomy Domine - Umma Gumma - Pink Floyd.
etc. etc.
I can't seem to find the way to get this 'music' app in android to sort by folder first and the multitude of '01. next song, next album' in a row in my music list is starting to really get me down.
I don't want any nonsense to get album art for me or even to try to figure out what album this is (byte allowance on plans in AU sucks pretty hard, OK?) or what order these songs should be in.
Simple form of question: What is the name of an app that doesn't try to be clever about your music collection, just sorts and plays it by "(1) FileFolder->(2) FileName"?
Is this possible with this app that comes with Android and calls itself 'music' in the list?
I know in the Contacts app you can press the menu button to get to settings, but it looks like Motorola has removed the display options selection from the menu.
I want my contacts to be sorted by last name, but displayed as:
First Last
John Smith
So it is displaying the names correctly, but it is sorting them by first name instead of last. Is there a way to change this on the Droid X?
After loosing most of my contacts this is what I had to do - tedious! Find my old phone - copy the contacts to my desire sim - put the sim back in desire - sync with googlemail - adapt EVERY name because they changed to surname 1st - then delete some of the duplicated numbers - save - sync back to phone? Now i have done this do I need to Import to SD - Import from SD - Export to SD - or do nothing, I dont want to end up with bloody duplicates/lost numbers again.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI got my HTC Hero in January of this year, and until now, have had my pictures from my old phone in a separate folder from the photos taken on the Hero. I decided that I'd like them all combined to better organize my SD Card. I figured that if they were all renamed sequentially, the Photos app would sort them by name. (IMAG0001.jpg, IMAG0002.jpg, etc...) I used Automator on the Mac to run a workflow that sorted all my pictures by creation date, and renamed them in the sequential format stated previous. This is the format that the new photos taken on the Hero had. Once I re-opened the Photos app, all of my pictures were sorted funny. I'm quite upset about this.
I proceeded to modify creation and modification dates on the files, and still had the same sort order.
Does anyone know how the photos are sorted? How can I modify the sort order? How can I manipulate my photos so they'll sort properly?
When I start the ADB shell from the Windows command line, and type the command "ls", the list of files I get is not sorted by name. Also, if I enter "ls -r" which should reverse sort, I get the error message "no such file". If I type "busybox ls -l", I get the expected sorted list. Also, other commands like "busybox ls -la" work.
My Phone is a Samsung Captivate i897, rooted from Gingerbread with Corn Kernel v7.06 with Superuser and BusyBox installed.
How can I get the Busybox version of the shell commands to run without having to type "busybox" all the time?
I don't know if it's my phone or what but when I look up the Other Usage on my phone, it shows it "Running" more than 2/3 of the time.And on Network Usage, "Android System" and "Media" use a great deal of the phone as well.I think this might have to do with my "android.process.acore" crashing every once in a while when it's asleep. Based on everyone's feedback I might have to return the Moment for a third time.

Everytime I make a phone call or receive a phone call, the name and picture of one of my friends shows up as the last call. For instance, my dad could call me and in the phone log, it will show my dads number but my friend's name and picture. I deleted my friend's name and number from my phone and the issue still persists. If anyone has had this issue before or know how to solve this issue, please help me out!

The best solution seems to be to put the items into a file (on sdcard), one item per line, each line would have the same number of characters so that I can seek to specific line number. If the user enters something in the text field, I would binary search (via RandomAccessFile) the file and show suggestions.I want the autocomplete to be super fast (ideally under 100ms but I guess it's impossible), what optimizations I can do?

I will convert the users input to lowercase english characters (a-z) with spaces. So 'A/b' would be converted to 'a b' and then searched.

My contacts are all sorted by first name. i cant seem to find how to change the sort order so the complete contact list is sorted by last name?

I am using the Y5 app and my phone connects to my router when I am home. I just checked the battery usage and Wifi was showing 22%. My up time is right around 27 hours. Does 22% sound a little high or is that good?

Battery was at 24%. Talked for 10 Minutes. Now 18%. Really? 6 %. By that rate you can get 166.6 minutes of talk time. Does this sound right? No apps were running in the backround.

View 35 Replies View RelatedNew DINC owner here, I am somewhat questing if my battery is anygood on my new phone. I unplugged my phone with a 100% charge and the green light on. I made one 4 minute phone call and viewed 4 emails and in that 10 minutes my battery went from 100% to 90%.
Stats are:
Unplugged for 10m 22s
android system 92%
voice calls 4%
cell standby 2%
WiFi 2%
Just viewing the battery use screen brought my phone down to 88%. Is this draining to fast? I also noticed last night at work I walked in with a 100% charge, I played around online a good amount and looked at some apps. Within an hour my battery life was down to about 60%. I realize these phones use a lot of battery but this one seems to be losing it's charge in a real hurry, my Blackberry was no where near this bad.
I checked my battery usage and 33% is being used while Phone Idle and 36 while cell standby. Anyone know if this is normal or is my draining too much battery? BTW my Fiancee DL a Ping Pong app and played it once. I checked my battery to see what was using it, the ping pong app had drained 90%.
