Any Chance we could see aftermarket back plates for the DI any time soon?I'd love to see a carbon fiber back plate and with that red around the camera lens sticking out.Now that's Race Car Inspired!C'mon Manufactures get to it.I'll order a couple.

Is there any info floating around about an aftermarket smooth backplate?I am really looking forward to the phone but I am not sure about that stepped off backplate.I would prefer a smoother one.Anybody know where to look for that kind of thing?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI just ordered two new Motorola Droid's on sunday, they're due to get here on wednesday so i've been killing time looking at accessories. Just had a couple of quick questions. Keep in mind we're looking for the *gel* cases for the droid.I know that OEM skins/cases will cost more than the bargain skins/cases on ebay I'm guessing that some of the gel cases that cost more have had some more thought put into them and are probably higher quality (get what you pay for maybe?). I'm basically looking for personal recommendations for a brand or a website that sells GOOD QUALITY gel cases.I'm trying to avoid having to return something because it turns out that the gel case covers up the flash, the keys on the slide out keyboard, or wont allow the phone to be used in the car dock.. That kind of thing. Anyone have any success stories they can share?

Instead of trying to grab the notification bar and swiping it down, simply start ABOVE the screen and swipe down. Fast or slow makes no difference.
You can swipe it back up, or simply hit the back button.
This is my first android device and i'm loving it... but one thing that irks me is the use, or lack thereof, of the back button.
As I am navigating menus and options in the Settings, I cannot simply go back one menu using the back key. For example, if I go to Settings->Battery Manager->Battery Profile Options and want to go back to the Settings screen, I cannot.
Pushing the back button does nothing and I can only go back to the Settings menu by going Home, then re-entering.
Another quirk regarding the back button is when reading emails. Using a regular email account such as Hotmail, I cannot simply read an email and go back to the inbox using the button.
It makes navigating the phone very tedious.
How can you put s-on back?

In general its just a pain for me. I want to go back to 2.1. I have a backup but I wanted to make sure I wouldn't be breaking anything by flashing to it.

I realize you can tap where you want the cursor to go, but that is very imprecise when you want to go back to a space in between letters and make a correction. Especially with fat fingers.

View 25 Replies View RelatedI'm sure the engineers who build these phones are quite brilliant individuals, and certainly, at least one of them has figured out by now that, "Hey, if we put the speaker on the back of the phone, the sound is going to be muffled when the phone rings!"So I'm just curious if there is some logistical/technical reason why this is done? I figure it would be much better design-wise to put the speaker on the front, or maybe even on the bottom. Other than not being able to see the screen in direct sunlight, this is the only real gripe I have about the phone thus far.Also, do you guys lay the phone face down when not using it, assuming you'd otherwise sleep right through the phone ringing when sitting on its back?
View 35 Replies View RelatedThe back of mine doesn't seem to go on as snugly as it used to. I've swapped the battery a few times since getting mine on launch day. Probably 10 or so times. If i press lightly with my thumb on the center of the bottom part of the back, it makes a squeaky noise and definitely gives. I'm used to backs that are made to come off the phone a bit more easily (blackberry's, moto droid), so I've always found the plastic tabs on the inc kind of suboptimal. I guess that's one of the sacrifices you make for a super slim and light phone. I ordered a new back cover from ebay, hopefully that will give me back that tight-as-a-drum new phone feel.
View 17 Replies View RelatedI'm so frustrated with MMS.I can't get them to send using Handcent or ChompSMS without numerous forwarding attempts. I can receive them immediately with no problems from other people even on differenct carriers, but they won't send.I finally got my SMS to stop crashing/force closing and deleting all my messages by uninstalling the Antivirus app. Im on day two (since the uninstall) without a force close.I had no problem sending MMS until I installed Handcent. I even uninstalled Handcent.Rebooted and re-installed. No outgoing MMS without 2 or 3 message forwards. I tried the Airplane Mode trick. No change. After uninstallling Handcent again, I chose ChompSMS to see if that works. Same thing.it's a no go for sending out. The stock messaging app is the only one that works, but it's so BORING.

So far I've copied the whole nandroid and titanium backup folders to my computer and right now rom manager is backing up my rom. What else should i do? do i need to move the rom manager backup folder to my computer as well?
