HTC Hero :: Link Calendar Address To Google Maps?
Dec 16, 2009Is there a way to link an address in the calendar to Google Maps? I type an address in the "Where" field in the calendar entry and want to tap it to open Google maps.

Motorola CLIQ :: Getting Address From Calendar Into Google Maps?
Dec 11, 2009I use the Google calendar on my Cliq, and what I want to be able to do is pull the address from an appointment in my calendar, and have it plug right into Google maps to show me the directions, rather than me having to retype it. Anyone know of an app that will let me do this? Either just click on the address and have it pop up in Google maps, or copy the address and paste it into Google maps?

For instance, if I have a meeting at Joe Bob's office, I'd like to be able to type in Joe Bob's name in the event location field on the calendar and have it insert the address for me, instead of having to switch to contacts, find Joe Bob, copy Joe Bob's address, switch back to calendar, and paste the address.

Aug 27, 2010I would like to create a search in my app which acts like the map search in the Google Maps app. I have creates an an auto complete text view which updates dynamically based on the results of the Geocoder.GetLocationByName() Method. However the results retrieved from this function are really bad and not at all consistent with the text I pass to it. Is there a better method of doing this to achieve accurate results?

Jan 10, 2010I have my hero using built in calendar app.I have a google calendar and a Exchange calendar, I also have My calendar, not sure what that is. I would like to have all the calendars sync using the phone as the main source. So for example if I create a meeting on my phone it also shows on my exchange calendar and my google calendar. At the moment I have to add a calendar entry under the calendar I want the entry to show up on.So If I add an entry to my exchange calendar it doesn't show in google calendar. Can anyone suggest a sync method, without using PC, just phone.

I have seen a post on here where someone has deleted account details from phone - as I believe i have 2 accounts on my phone. Does anyone know how to delete acc data ( i think it clears all apps as well) When i first got my hero i already had a gmail acc but the phone made me set up a new one - I think this is part of the problem, thats why i want to delete all accs and start again

May 13, 2010I wanted to change the Google account that my phone was linked to, so I cleared the google app. Now when I try to sign in using my google account to link the phone with the phone (the new one or the old one) it asks for my login info, then says Signing in and says it may take up to 5 minutes. Then it gives me a message that says: "Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server. This could be a temporary problem or your SIM card may not be provisioned for data services. If it continues, call Customer Care." I have called customer care and they can't figure it out. They told me I need to go to a Sprint Store that does service, but there isn't one very close to me, so I'd rather not take half a day to drive there if I don't have to.
I have full bars and everything else works great. I can get my email, use the internet and do everything else that doesn't require the use of the google account. But I can't use the google mail feature or go to the Marketplace. I'm using 1.56.651.2 and haven't really done anything else to the phone as far as changing settings or rooting or anything.

This is a very neat option, my question is when I link a profile from facebook to a contact does this decrease battery life, or can I change some setting so facebook wont update but maybe once a day?

Sep 26, 2010Just got my wildfire, running android 2.1 and cannot obtain an IP address from my TP Link TD W8920G router. log in the password etc and it just keeps getting stuck in a loop saying 'obtaining IP address', then unsuccessful.
I've tried manually adding the phone's MAC address to the router configure, and have assigned an IP address to the phone, following advice on other forums. I've upgraded the router's firmware, and I've rebooted the router. I've attempted to 'use static IP' but truth be told i don't really know what that means.
HTC Hero : Can't Get New Google Maps
Dec 8, 2009I don't know if this is because I'm running a custom ROM or that we are still on 1.5 but this is the latest app to go AWOL from the market. This is a real pain as it has some great new features and really tests my patience if this is only for 1.6 and above. Does anyone have a link to the .apk?

Aug 18, 2009When I try and use this the maps often don't appear even when outside, just get left with the grid. Should I do a reset ? (& bearing in mind I still can't get HTC Sync to install on my pc) or is it more likely to be related to the network ? I have both wireless and gps enabled and the latest version of google maps. Sky map seems to work fine (so uses the compass) but not google maps so can't get a map most of the time let alone streetview.

Apr 22, 2010I just recieved my HTC Hero today (second hand) and under build number it has MoDaCo Custom ROM 3.1 Core.
So i assume this means it is running a rooted ROM. Problem is there is no google maps on my phone and i cant seem to get it from the market, nor the google maps website. I did a factory reset before i used the phone.

Dec 21, 2009I used Google Maps as I had some running around to do. I was not using GPS, I have it turned off and have full HSPA (H) showing on phone. Anyways, I put in my first stop and GMaps gave me the directions right away... so no problem.After I was done at the first place, I put in my second stop. GMaps showed exactly the same directions . I've been home now for about 1/2 and still, the exact same directions no matter what I put in.I have not turned the phone off/on or anything like that, because quite frankly, I shouldn't have to!Anyone get this happening with GMaps?

Sprint HTC Hero :: Can Google Maps Keep Awake?
Mar 11, 2010I would like Google Maps to over-ride the sleep timer on my phone and always stay on. I downloaded the app "Trapster", which is a police notification overlay on top of Google Maps. It has the feature of over-riding the sleep timer and keeps the display always on. Disabling the sleep timer is not an option. I would like Google Maps to have the same functionality a 3rd party overlay app is giving me.

Being on the Hero, GM is pre-loaded and I don't know how to update it to the new version (since it's not listed in my Market downloaded, being that it was pre-loaded on the phone).Does it automatically do it, or do I have to uninstall and grab the new version from the Market? Dec 16, 2009When i used google maps with my N96 it used to load up first and show my approximate location, so it would guess where I was to the nearest 100metres or something like that, and then when the GPS loaded up it pinpointed my exact location. Is it possible to do that with google maps for the hero?
It would make using things like "places directory" and generally getting directions with google maps a lot easier if you could check out something indoors, then it would lock down your location when you went outside and found your gps.

Oct 28, 2010Just found Google Maps 4.6 on Market. But tried several times and all failed on installation with just the notification "Installation unsuccessful". Download seems completed and the message was prompted a while after installation started. I'm using VR12.

Jan 13, 2010I updated the firmware on my HTC Hero some time ago from Modaco to Firmware 1.5.I just got an N1, so I restored the Hero to give to my wife, and the next thing I noticed is there was no Google Maps. I went in to the Market and again...I couldn't even pull it in a search even though I pulled it in searches on my N1.
Does anyone know what's up here? Do I need to upgrade my firmware? If so, does anyone have a link to the install?
Sprint HTC Hero :: Keep Screen On When Using Google Maps?
Nov 24, 2009Anyone know how to keep the screen on while in google maps? Especially while plugged into the car charger. I get annoyed of having to turn the phone on and then unlocking it.... then having gmaps reload to my location while I'm driving.
In my previous TPro, there was a setting where I could just keep the screen on if my phone was plugged in.
HTC Hero :: Google Maps App Keeps Minimizing / Stop It To Do So?
Jan 15, 2010Just got my new HTC hero. Everything's fine, been installing apps like crazy, sorted out videos, but not for the satnav.. For some reason, when I go on Google Maps, it minimizes right out of it to the home screen where my clock is.
If I hold the house button, it's still open, and if I go back to it again, it will just minimize again after a short while. I got it to stay open once, but now it's just messed up
Any fixes or alternative Sat Navs I can use?
