Just got a HTC Evo. My questions is what the title says. I was sent a sound attachment from a blackberry phone and want to make it my ringtone. How can I do this? The file shows to be a .amr file?

It seems like the ringtone and text tones have to be the same volume, and unless I want to crank up the volume on my phone (which makes the ringtone way too loud) I can't hear when I get a text message. I've tried a number of different tones (default phone options and some I've found on Zedge) but none really work for me. I love the one I had on my old LG phone, but can't find anything like it.

I have tried going into my text message main screen - menu - notification - ringtone BUT this puts the new ringtone on and does not turn off the old ring tone. Is there a way to set it up on the DX so that if i don't read a new text after the initial ring, it will beep or play the rington like every minute. this is the only feature i miss, bc sumtimes i walk away from my phone and miss the text coming in and i wont know its there unless i check my phone. I would like to have it beep or something every minute as a reminder that you have a text waiting.

On my Eris, it appears in my music section. How do I set it as my notification sound? It is not appearing in the "sound" list for notifications.
Ive searched through the forums, and no one seems to have this exact question. When everyone other than my girlfriend texts me, my phone vibrates and plays the notification sound. Now, when my girlfriend texts me, I get no vibration, AND no sound. The only thing I could think of is that I gave my girlfriend a custom ringtone I made with ringdroid, but that wouldn't make any sense since its for a call, not a text. The software is all up to date, ive reset the alert tone in the notification settings, and im afraid thats all my knowledge used up. Ringtone sound is fine and it also vibrates for that.

Used to happen every once in a while, now doing it multiple times a day. I use Handcent but I doubt that is the problem because the messages dont show up in the regular messaging either. Just want to see if i am alone with this problem.

i have even changed all the notification tones, but the default tone keeps randomly playing.i think it is because when the tone comes a little R comes next to the signal bar? what dose this mean?
I looked around and I saw that other people were having an issue similar to this on other phones but mine is slightly different. Originally when I got the phone Google Talk played a sound every time i got a new message regardless if it was from a new person or someone i was already having a conversation with...I then turned on the vibrate option as well and ever since I did that the notifications even with a new message from a new conversation wont play or vibrate...any suggestions? Its even a bigger problem when my phone is plugged in b/c then I cant see the led flashing when i get a new message.
