Today for some reason my internal memory usage bumped up a whooping 17 MB! I want to track down those 17 mbs and where they got lost. However, i cant seem to understand how i browse the phone storage from the PC, is there a way to do this? am i missing something?

View 11 Replies View RelatedI have the HTC Hero with cupcake (v1.5) software. I cannot browse the net using my sim card. I have tried changing the settings to use 2G and 3G. This sim card has been used on my previous mobile phone to browse the net with, yet on my sweet little hero it doesn't want to. Is there something I need to do first? (Like root the phone) One thing I have noticed is that when I select market (for example) it comes up wanting me to sign up or log into my gmail account? Is this "normal" behaviour? One other thing I need to add is this phone was bought brand new and it was not tied to a SP contract.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have manually installed the drivers, and I am running windows 7 64-bit. The problem is that my Hero will not connect to my pc as a mass storage device. I pull down the notifications, mount, but then a couple of seconds later, the hero remounts the SD card and closes the connection. My computer will detect it and I can access the "storage device" for a couple of seconds, but then it disconnects.

Very confused as I only have 15ish~ Apps from the market installed, auto task killer is killing almost everything to up my battery life, I delete most of my emails..
Im also now experiencing a ton of lock-ups when trying to scroll through things like my application list, sometimes screens, loading the mail app etc..
This just started happening yesterday/today and before that it was running flawlessly.
I did a bit of searching on here, and definitely did my due dillegence researching online, however, I was unable to get confirmation on a few points regarding the Hero. I'm hoping someone here can provide some insight. 1. I understand that with Android (unless you mod it, which I most likely will not be doing) you cannot run applications from the SD Card. That being said, the Hero comes with 512MB internal storage, and say hypothetically, I have 350 contacts, never delete text messages or call log and have 60 apps installed (most likely, no games, which i understand take up the most room), will the storage provided suffice? What gets stored on internal memory besides apps? 2. Has visual voicemail been confirmed? I've seen Sprint documentation stating it was, however, I haven't seen it referenced or demonstrated in any of the 25 or so reviews I've read. 3. How does the calendar, mail and contact clients stack up against WinMo? I rely heavily on my calendar, as it's synced with my company's exchange server. It basically keeps my life organized on every level, so I'd really need it to be pretty solid. Again, I haven't really seen this touched on in any of the reviews. Same with mail. Contacts I guess I've seen reviewed pretty extensively because of the integration it has with all of the social networking and whatnot, so my main concern are the calendar and the mail clients.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've bought this chinese clone of the SIII, it's a MT6575. It's great except for the internal storage, which supposedly is 500MB but there seems to be an invisible SD storage which is 2GB. It's really confusing... When I go to Settings -> Storage there are 3 memories: "Internal Storage" (claims to be 4GB but it's fake, it's actually 500MB), "Phone Storage" (claims to be 16.5GB but it's probably 2GB), and finally my SD, "SD Card" (32GB).
The thing is, I'm having problems downloading big apps because apps go to "Internal Storage" which is 500MB only, and which files are stored in the "Phone Storage" (maybe internal & phone are actually the same?). However when I go to Settings -> Apps, on the "Downloaded" tab, the apps are in "Internal Storage" (500MB), and on the "On SD Card" tab, it shows that apps are in "Phone Storage" (the ones I moved to SD). This means my 32GB SD isn't being used by the system when I send apps to SD probably.
Also, my 32GB SD card is found in /mnt/sdcard2, and the /mnt/sdcard... I don't know which storage is that.
So basically all this is happening because I tried to Link2SD with my 32GB SD doing all the 2 partitions stuff and so, but Link2SD never detects the "secondary SD" which is the 32GB SD, as this fake SD card, "Phone Storage", is probably what the programs thinks to be the SD card.
i just download some applications from the Market then suddenly got warning phone storage getting low. So is there anyway to transfer the files from phone storage to SD storage ??? PLease anyone who knows about it to inform me coz i stuck with this problem.

What I mean is...when I plug my phone into my PC I only get a single popup asking to mount the phone's SD card storage, but not the internal phone storage.If I remove the SD card (or unmount the SD card using menus on the phone) and then toggle the connection type from Disk Drive, to Charge only, and then back to Disk Drive (to burp the connection), the internal phone storage will mount, but the SD card won't mount because it has been removed.When I connect my wife's incredible, my computer sees both the SD card storage and the internal storage (as expected) and gives me prompts for both. I took the SD card from the problematic phone and put it in the "good" phone and there are no issues at all (IE.. both the internal storage and SD storage mount). This of course means there is no issue with the SD card.

im shocked with how the manufacturer of my device(cherry mobile) designated their storage. the phone storage is 2gb and internal is 500 mb.
it is not a problem if i could write apps on phone storage by default but even though the 'write to phone storage' is checked, when i downloaded an app, the internal storage still losses free space.
so is it possible to extend internal storage?
My Laptop(s) no longer see my Hero.. It used to, but now all it does is charge.. I can`t browse or transfer files..
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo if I do a Factory Reset on the phone it still has some of the old photos/videos I took, which leads me to believe it doesn't fully clear the device of everything, just the settings that I changed are returned to their factory defaults (duh!).I was curious if I do the Clear Storage option, which means turning off the device and holding one of the volume toggles while holding the power button - would that mean that the entire Android OS would be removed, or does it mean it does a format of the phones entire partition and re-installs Android (similar to a reformat/recovery partition on a computer)? I use quite a lot of apps on my current Nokia, and whilst have had a very quick response on this forum to an equivalent to the one I could not live without, I find it annoying I can't really look round the android marketplace to understand the apps without having an android phone in the first place! Is there a way to browse the marketplace without having a phone first?

I've tested on Windows & Linux and there's no reason (that I can see) that it wont work from a mac.
However, this is highly experimental and somewhat tricky to set up. It's also my first ever Android app and was built from scratch in the last few hours.

So I have the nexus one with Froyo 2.2. I notice I am able to use the hotspot feature to download some small media and talk on the phone at the same time via bluetooth or regular headset, Is this a feature someone overlooked or is it just me?
View 9 Replies View RelatedCan you tell me (viz. those of you with a working hotspot!), can you still use your browser when the hotspot is active. Just turning the hotspot on on my desire cuts the (mobile data) internet connection with the browser, and anything else!
In fact even after turning off the hotspot I have to toggle mobile data on/off & toggle APN's to get mob. data back.
Also which Orange APN's/usernames/passwords do you have success with & which not?
I have tried all the posted solutions & even HTC technical!
