Android :: View On Press Onpress - Change Background Color On Press - How Do Show That The View Is Being Pressed
Jan 5, 2010I have, for the time being, a custom view with a 9-patch image as a border.
That custom view is placed three times in a LinearLayout, so it looks like this:

I have attached a click event listener to the View, so it is clickable. But then I click it, I cant see that I am clicking it - there is no change in color.
So, Im thought that I'd attach a "onPress" listener, and then change the background of the view but I couldnt find such a listener.
So, the question is - how do I create the behaviour on the View so I can see that it is being pressed? this is normally done in Android with a green background to indicate that it is now being pressed.
Motorola Droid :: Make Stock Calendar Widget Show Today's Events
Jan 6, 2010This seems like an obvious requirement for a calendar widget, but I can't get it actually show me today's events. For a few days leading up to an event, it'll inform me when it's coming, but when it's here, nada.
So is there any way to actually make the widget show the current day's events?
Sprint HTC Hero :: Hanging Up On Call Waiting And Conference Calling
Jun 13, 2010Is there a way to hang up on one call during call waiting or conference calling? Seems that whenever I have two calls going on, I can't hang up on one caller unless they hang up. If I try pressing the end button then I hang up on both callers. I know this was a issue with 1.5 but has it been fixed with 2.1? And if so, how do you go about doiong it?

Feb 4, 2010I don't know if this has been asked before, sorry if its a repeat questions. I'm trying to help out my co-worker, he had a palm treo and now has a Moto Droid. His palm treo would anounce the person's name that was calling, he liked this for when he didnt have his phone near him, he would know who was calling and knew if to rush and get it or not. I'm not a android user YET, I have a Curve and waiting for the Nexus one to go on vzw to do the switch, so I have no idea if this option he's looking for is available for his Droid.

Nov 14, 2009i've got the european gsm htc hero running on tmobile usa pre-paid minutes. Is there a way I can know when I have new voicemail? on my iphone I had a dedicated voicemail button and it would have a red dot on it if I had new voicemail, I'm wondering if I could get something like this on the hero? The way it is now is I have to call the voicemail contact, and check for voicemail that way.

Oct 8, 2009my g2/hero is currently rooted i did this as i couldnt wait for tmobile to release the latest rom update as ive been trying to fix my signal issues, 2 bar is the norm 3 bars is rare and 4 bars well that would be a miracle as in the 2 months of ownership ive only had 4 bars once. but my question is even though my hero is rooted is it ok to use either the new tmobile rom or the latest htc rom on a rooted hero as at the moment im using the macado rom (excuse the spelling) i thought this might of help my signal but it has remained the same. so i thought id give the htc or tmoble rom a try but i dnt want to unroot my hero as i like being able to have my apps on the sd card.

Jul 30, 2010apologies if this has been covered before, but there are so many differing articles and threads on various websites and forums that I got fed up of trying to work things out. Having been away from my pc for a month whilst on holiday, I've not had chance to keep close tabs on Android issues, (and being on holiday I wasnt going to make special provisions anyway!) but here is the problem - Whilst I was away, I received two notifications on my HTC Hero (TMobile G2 Touch) that there was a new version of something or other, both of which which I downloaded, and both of which made my touchscreen very unresponsive at times. Presuming that this was the holy grail Android firmware update, I took it into my local TMobile store on getting back home to ask them if it was possible to remove the 'improvement'.The guy in there pointed out that there was a new Android firmware update available which when installed might resolve the issues, so he pressed a few buttons and started a download on my phone, told me to leave it running as it would take about half an hour, then restart the phone. However - the download wouldnt take effect as it needed 25mb free space to install and there was only 23mb available.After going home and wiping a few apps to leave the necessary space, I cant find this download anywhere.Has anyone got any idea where it might be?

I've searched the forum and elsewhere but can't figure out how to transfer music from my hardrive onto the phone. I have managed to synch my phone contacts/calendar (which was a job in itself).
The PC which is an XP home version, does not pick up my phone to allow me to transfer files. Can anyone offer advice in very simple terms please?
HTC Hero :: Wipe All Information And Data When ROM Update From TMobile

2. I've got a new ROM update from T-Mobile but when I run the install it says "This will wipe all your information and data". What's all that about?
3. Might be my router but when I enable WiFi and try to connect to it, it connects for a minute or so then disappears and then will come up shortly after saying "WiFi networks available" but it won't connect to the router.
4. Is it worth messing about with custom ROMs?
5. There's a battery issue, sometimes it will last ages and sometimes it won't last very long at all. I've heard Android keeps programs running after you've shut them down, so how do I close them properly?
Sprint HTC Hero :: Using Chompsms Battery Life Has Improved Significantly However Fix Stopped Working Today
Oct 24, 2009So I applied the fix for the battery life in the other thread posted here last week. Using chompsms, my battery life has improved significantly. However, the fix stopped working today.
I am not using messages and am using chompsms. However, by noon today, my battery life was at 50%, whereas normally it's at 80.
Now the weird thing is, the uptime of the phone is still very low (15%ish). However, using spare parts--> battery usage --> partial wake usage, I found that the Dialer was using an incredible amount of battery -the exact same phenomoneon in the original issue. So, it seems that the fix has stopped working and battery life is low again, but the phone still recognizes the phone as going into standby.

Nov 30, 2009When you press the 'google search button' on your Hero it takes you to the Browser.. I then turn it in landscape mode to get a bigger keyboard. As soon as I press any of the keyboard buttons the keyboard bounces up and down..thus you can't type properly..

Nov 15, 2009I tried searching for this, to no avail, but here is the situation. I was on my main Home screen and just trying to figure stuff out and when I long press the menu key it brings up the onscreen keyboard. I figured it was for contact search or something, but it did nothing when I typed...or so I thought. Now everytime I back out to the Home screen a little transparent "window" displays with letters i first typed. I cant type new letters to display or even use the backspace key to erase. Any one know what Im talking about?

Oct 3, 2009A couple of times today I have taken the Hero out of my pocket to find that it is unlocked and doing something (first time it tried to send an SMS to a black number and then it had loaded the browser) which is weird because I didn't think it would be able to use the touch screen while in my pocket.I'm guessing that it managed to unlock itself by pressing the menu button twice while in my pocket, but this does seem unlikely - anyway I activated the unlock pattern and it hasn't done it since, so my question is it possible to disable the ability to double-press menu to unlock it? (It's rooted if that makes it possible).It's always possible that I just didn't lock the phone either of those times, but that seems more unlikely. Has anyone else noticed this problem?

Nov 5, 2009From the moment I received my HTC Hero from orange several weeks ago I noticed the when I press the back arrow button on the bottom right of the phone its clicks and creaks, dont think its the button itself but its the plastic battery case that makes the sound.

Sep 2, 2010This morning I got a question to upgrade the operating system on my phone so I said YES. It went through the whole process and when it finally booted up it does not work. It now keeps booting up. I did a master reset and cleared the data but now it just keeps booting by itself and so the new operating system must be at fault. Any ideas?

Android :: Anyone Else's Phone Brick Today?
Jun 15, 2009I updated a few apps yesterday afternoon, I can't remember all of them but Open Home was one of them. I turned my phone off when I got to work and when I turned it back on it would not go past the Android loading screen. T-Mobile had me reset back to the default setting so I lost all my apps and such. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem after updating an app recently.I don't want to download the app again if its broken.
