Is there a way to boot into my Eris Safe Mode? When trying to turn on my phone last night, I get a force close pop up telling me aHome has stopped working, "Sorry". I've been searching since midnight for a way to start Safe Mode, or a step by step of what to do in recovery mode. I have a stock Eris on 2.1 OTA, 1.47 bootloader, and I do NOT have root. Is a Factory Reset my only alternative?

I installed helix launcher home app, it was working fine. I adjusted how many screens it has down to 1 and now the phone constantly forceloses since its the home app, and I cannot get to other screens. What can I do to solve this, because currently my phone is just locked in a loop of foreclose screens.

Today my phone started continuously re-booting itself. Only gets to the HTC screen and then re-boots. I have done multiple battery pulls with no results. I cannot boot into recovery either, tried that many times as well. My only option is a screen that I have not seen before that asks if I want to clear all data and then reset the device.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've noticed my Nexus acting a bit buggy since the 2.2.1 update. Lots of force closes with the launcher. (which is exactly why I shredded and burned my old MyTouch for). After FINALLY getting a THIRD 16 gig card, after the other two got "damaged" costing me so far 25-30 gigs of content, I loading it up with movies and songs for my vacation. I go to reboot and it keeps looping the boot animation but wont boot up. Getting really close to kissing Android good bye as I've had NOTHING but bugs and damaged SD cards and an overall terrible user experience for a year and a half with two phones. I know we're only really two years into development but how much longer do we have to wait for a finished product that I don't have to keep making excuses for? More to the point WTF is going on with the boot loader on my phone and how do I fix it?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've kind of made a similar post about this before. I keep having this issue where ill be txting someone and all of a sudden ill get constant force closes on my messaging app followed by it then losing all my threaded txts.
I'm using the native app with sms pop up and a sms widget that just makes my icon look like the eclair version.
I also sometimes have an issue where ill be txting, get a force close error and it will delete whatever txt I just received without being able to read it...
I want to add home screen shortcuts to individual chat rooms, in my app.
Here's my code to do so:

When I go to add the shortcut to my home screen, I get a Force Close, not on my own process, but on com.android.acore(!). I've run the debugger and verified that my code gets executed all the way to the call to finish().
If I do this instead for the EXTRA_SHORTCUT_ICON:
intent.putExtra(Intent.EXTRA_SHORTCUT_ICON, R.drawable.icon);
It works fine and places the shortcut, and the shortcut behaves correctly -- but of course the shortcut has the stock Android icon, not mine, since this isn't the proper way to specify the icon.
When I look at the source code of other apps that have done this, and at the one example of it in the official Android reference area, my code looks identical. My icon's a standard 48x48 png that I use for the app's main icon, without problems. I've verified this problem on an emulator running stock 1.6, haven't tested other versions.
Okay so I installed aHome Lite and set it as default without even thinking, and now I'm having a force close loop. I can't do anything except pull down the notification bar. What can I do? A reset? How?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI keep getting com.htc.bg and the force close button or wait. Wait does nothing. It happens when I go to sync and I know it has to be face book because I've updated my profile pic on my pc but it shows my old one when I text.
I've changed the spare parts thing to normal and not aggressive. Is the only other option turning off face book sync? If so, seriously why did I buy a 'smart' phone? Or should I just wipe and reflash and see what happens?
I am having problems running the youtube app... Whenever it is opened it force closes itself. It was working fine, though now it isn't... I tried clearing the cache and the only thing that helps is a restart, though once Youtube is closed (ATK) then it doesn't boot up all the time. It seems to be random...

Today I installed the "new" leak, and now when I restart my phone I get an error saying, "the process com.htc.bg has to close due to an unexpected error." Then it makes me force close the process. My questions are, 1) does anyone know what this process is for? and 2) How do you suggest I fix this issue? Should I re-download from a different mirror? I have already tried re-flashing the zip that I have on my sd card.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have rooted my phone, tried to partition sd card although not to sure that it took since I could not get a reading on my computer, flashed xtra rom 3.0.3, was running Launcher pro and all was hunky dory although I could not get any find any of my apps. I ran a restore from My Back up and restored my apps which in turn also restored Launcher pro (again).I am now stuck in a force close loop of Launcher pro after rebooting. I have done a hot battery pull and still am stuck.

View 3 Replies View RelatedSometimes, after the phone has been in sleep mode for awhile, when I hit the power button to wake it back up and then the menu button (or swipe) to open the screen, I get that circular bar pattern followed by what look like the browser trying to launch. The screen is white, with a white address bar area, too. Then that screen goes back to the circular bar pattern, followed by the white browser screen again, after which it just closes. Very odd. Doesn't do it all the time. Seems to be random. And after a hard reset, sometimes the first time or two I use the browser, it just force closes on me. Again, doesn't do it all the time. (At first I thought I accidentally hit the home button, or something, but I didn't.)

So I went onto super controls and gave I access. Now whenever I run setcpu I'm. Able to move the slider only one time then it freezes everything so bad I have to pull battery.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI keep trying to attach pictures using Handcent. Keeps telling me pictures are too large and resizing. Then it always force closes handcent. I increased maximum MMS size to 1M. Never had this problem til after the update. Have done a factory reset. Only thing I have not done is uninstall Handcent and reinstall. View 6 Replies View RelatedAnyone else having issues with the phone and a system error message with something about com.htc.provider and it only gives you the option of a "force close" button. Sometimes that is all that happens and once you hit the force close the message goes away, at least for a while. Other times when this happens it deletes all of your text strings. I have 2 lines and 2 droids, both were having the same issue, did the factory resets, went to the store with both and finally gave in and took 2 refurbished phones to try and fix issue, both refurbished phones started doing the same thing immediately. I am in process of arguing with verizon about not wanting another eris to replace these.
View 4 Replies View RelatedNo not the OTA. My Helix Launcher decided to force close ALOT. Back to back. I rebooted my phone to no avail. I pulled the battery and nothing was fixed. I tried to pull the app drawer and select the Uninstaller app, but it would force closed before I could open it.
Then I had a revelation: I have the Market as one of my shortcut apps on my Helix dock. I opened it up and went to my downloads, and opened the Uninstaller app. Uninstalled Helix, and now I am good to go.
I tried to switch from 5 screens down to 3 and it all started.
I keep getting this message, "The process com.htc.provider has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." followed by a box to 'force close.'
I seem to remember it wanted to update about a week ago, so I hit ok and then the update failed. It has not asked to try and update again since then....
The phone will display this message upon start up and also will occur at other seemingly random times.
The phone works fine after pressing force close but does anyone know how to stop this annoyance?
Since the OTA I can't close the home screen and make the phone sleep..
View 5 Replies View RelatedI tried flashing back to an older rom I used before, but this time it said there was an error and wouldn't work. I tryed doing a restore and that didnt work either. Now when i try to reboot, it just gets stuck on the 3 skateboarders. And when i try to go into recovery it just shows the triangle with an exclamation point, instead of the old menu I used to have. Is it fixable or did I brick it?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI have an eris flashed with PB00IMG and I believe I have root access. I am able to remove apps through terminal. I cannot get the google maps to update. I have removed maps.apk, htcnavi.apk and com.google.android.maps.jar. I have removed these separately and all together. I have been able to get it to update before, but I reflashed the PB00IMG because I could not get youtube videos to play without the stock browser. I got the youtube videos working again but cannot remember how to get the maps to update again. I wanted to try flashing different roms. I have downloaded a couple, placed them on the sdcard, and booted but I cannot get them to boot.

I bought an extra 2gb Sandisk micro SD card and I tried to use it to update my friends phone to 2.1 v3 and it didn't ever load the image when in boot. I finally had to take my card out of my phone and use it. A pain, but it worked. I'm just wondering if I got the wrong card?

I used this method:
Use terminal, since ADB doesn't work.
su
cp system/framework/framework-res.apk /sdcard
(edit files on your computer opening the framework as an archive using 7zip. put the file on the sd card)
assuming that you aren't in SU anymore..

cp /sdcard/framework-res.apk system/framework
chmod 644 system/framework/framework-res.apk
sync
reboot

They are not the .9 png files, and the icons changed without problem, but immediately after a reboot almost every program on my phone is force closing.

And I have the Modaco mod, and I know it said there was a chance it could go wrong. But I tried nandroid restore and it didn't work, now I'm still in a boot loop, what should I do?
